Re: Keep All Events in LOUISIANA!!!!
I was making a comparitive study, on a real small scale. I hear people say there is nothing to do in Shreveport so I decided to ask what it is they do in New Orleans. But to be perfectly honest with you. This is the same thing that can be done in Shreveport. There are many people who have never been to Shreveport for an event or haven't been there in a long time. Things have changed some for the good and for the bad. (I believe Shreveport was the 3rd or 4th largest city in Louisiana) It won't be the same as New Orleans, everyone knows that. But some how we seem to forget that people have been getting killed, robbed, arrested, drunk, car jacked, over charged in New Orleans for the past 31 years. I am sure with what has happened in the gulf region that Shreveport will be looked to handle the bulk of the tourism and events. (The Bayou Classic, Sugar Bowl, Mardi Gras, Essence festival, Saints, Hornets, Voodoo, and Louisiana based conventions, etc..) Should they all leave too.????
TRU2GSU said:MACH, since this thread is about the "city of SHREVEPORT". Also because it is you who asked, I will tell you.
Friday upon arrival, I check in. Then it is on the "We Never Close" in slidell. Meet with family (I have a uncle that speaks at the job fair every year).
Friday night battle of the bands, and afterward go to the Hilton to visit family, friends and hang. Stop doing the club scene along time ago. So me and my wife walk through the down town streets of N.O. looking for new GSU that I don't already have and tasting food. I always pass on the pagent have access to tickets if need be though, still enjoy the battle of bands. As far as the celeb parties. Access is not an issue there either. I have a good friend that is in the radio business so as soon as we touch down in N.O. he is on the phone with "wild wayne" and other A & R lining things up if we choose to go. A lot of times we don't go because we have such a good time among friends that we have not seen in a while. We actually turn down mo siht to do than a little bit.
Saturday is game day. Go to the game, side lines passes(NBC field jacket) if I want them. I have not used them in about 5 yrs, I had two sitting in my lap as I watched the game last year. After the game shop and eat. N.O. access is not a issue for me. Not to mention I have good good drank in my room alone with a siht load of room service kicking it with friends and kicking aZZ on the play station. When my POPs was alive it was worst than that so I have had my fair share of fun in N.O.
Not to mention one of my Best friends wife is from N.O. so that is ALWAYS an invite over for some real cajun cooking when they are in town for the game!
Early Sunday Morning I head back to Shreveport tell my family bye and head back I-20 west!
Ray in short, there is not enough time during that weekend for me to do ALL the things that I can do. This is short version.
