In Search Of The Face Of SWAC Football

Last year it was KJ who actually won a title and made history unlike Casey but one season is not a "face"........

A face is someone who broke multiple records and became a household name in all households and has legitimate pro potential

McNair had a national following back in the days when having a modem was a luxury...sports illustrated, etc......that's a "face"....we have not had a QB with that type of national appeal since..he sold stadiums out, made Alcorn give up home games to play in Jackson just to promote him. Even put the SWAC on ESPN2 when no TV deals existed.

That's the standard for a "face"

KJ Black? Wow...ok everybody just name ANYBODY on their team in the last 10 years. KjBlack had no potential to do anything but be a qb for a school like PV. This is getting ridiculous.

Kenn....GR knows you started this thread to gloss AshyDoug but in the future please include some parameters for guidance .

Of course, GR will prop up any and everything Jsu, so of course, he's harping on Casey, but...

...that line is funny as L. Sorry Kenn.
:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

All, ya'll wrong...

THE FACE OF THE SWAC IS:

DUER SHARP... He most vividly represents the current mediocrity and lack of direction that is this conference.

...SU, The Team Steve McNair Broke The NCAA Record On.
...SU, The Team that almost had Perfection in 2003 but had it slapped away by...ALCORN.
...SU, The Team that let JOHNNY THOMAS and TONY HOBSON come into Mumford and blow them out 38-16.
...SU, The Team that is going back to the days before Pete.

Ass-whippings can make you forget about certain schools because they beat you to sleep.

stop bruh

This is proof that some post just to see the pretty lines come together to make a word. Casey made post season and preseason All-American list and he made the list for the WalterPayton award.

Sheeeesh. You guys need to start putting your biases aside and get behind the next big thing from the SWAC. This kid is our chance to regain the national spotlight on the NCAA level and on the professional level in the near future.

After Casey drops 50 collective TDs on the SWAC this year and then he is fortunate enough to be successful on the next level, its gone' be some mad Negros on this board ...yall need to lighten up. Sheeeesh

lol really bruh

In all reality.........FCS football gets laughed at by the masses. Just listen to the national talking heads in sports. Everybody is so enamored with FBS ball it aint even funny. I will still say Doug gets more run than anybody in the SWAC. When he went back to Grambling......it was a Sportscenter story. The rest of our schools could change coaches and it may make the scroller on the bottom. So he is the face of the SWAC when it comes to who is known. And Grambling football still has the biggest name in the SWAC. Even though the SWAC is down compared to the glory years. Folks aint laughing at Gram like talking about when discussing football current or past. I have had too many discussions with them other folks and they know who Grambling is. But like I said.......everyone in FCS is looked down upon. Unless you are a FCS grad. We know most of these college fans aint been to no one's college so they all follow the big boys. You can't get into any discussions with normal folks about FCS ball. They think we are all D-2. LOL. Folks think Romo came from a D2 school and not FCS. Go to the chat boards and look at the comments sometimes. That let's me know FCS ball aint really isht in the grand scheme of things. That's why I always agree with TP on that we should have moved up when we had a better infrastructure. Every good FCS school with any means is trying to bounce up.

I know that JR. I'm talking to these to smackers on the thread.
I really want to know their choices cause I can't think of one from their school that would warrent it either.

Hands down it's Doug Williams, some are just allowing their alliance with their school to permit them from saying it but, truth is only truth. Dude at JSU is good but he's far from the face of the SWAC.

neither is Doug at this point and time.
Doug ain't dong shat that would warrent this title as far as present day SWAC employees...............Just the truth.

I see DOUG and the only thing I think about is an advertisement for Chapstick.

Now that isht was funny too.........Between you and GR yall done got a couple of good ones in on Doug.

I guess I should say Doug is the most nationally recognized face that currently is a SWAC coach or player. Now we can all leave it at that. LOL.

There is NO "Face" of the SWAC. Casey may be the closest, but hell, even his team didn't get to the end last year and won't be there this year.

The "face" is someone who changes the landscape of the conference. Casey didn't do that .... Jacoby, Kornblough, the kid at Bama State all had "some" measure of success before him.

In truth, Bruce was the closest to doing so, but Grambling did little with him OUTSIDE of the conference to push him as the FACE.

Even though B123 is definitely on some syrup with his Alcorn rants, he has the last true FACE of the conference ... Steve McNair.

He was the last true one to make other conferences, FBS and FCS, stop and take notice of what was happening in the SWAC. None, including Casey, have done that even with getting on the all-everything lists.

Year in and year out for more than five decades you knew Robinson would be there and his Tigers would be on the prowl for another league and Black National Championship run.

Robinson helped shape and mold the identity of the SWAC.

He was respected and revered like no other figure in the history of the 10-team conglomerate.

As we head into yet another SWAC media extravaganza this week, the question needs to be asked: who is the face of the SWAC now? What player or coach can fill the role that Robinson once held?

like his book was titled "Never Before,Never Again.
