In Search Of The Face Of SWAC Football

Year in and year out for more than five decades you knew Robinson would be there and his Tigers would be on the prowl for another league and Black National Championship run.

Robinson helped shape and mold the identity of the SWAC.

He was respected and revered like no other figure in the history of the 10-team conglomerate.

As we head into yet another SWAC media extravaganza this week, the question needs to be asked: who is the face of the SWAC now? What player or coach can fill the role that Robinson once held?

Casey is obviously the face of the SWAC
We are mot smart enough to take advantage of him his story and his athletic dominance.
Casey and Donovan Robinson should be promoted on all SWAC material

Doug Williams. He is the most known person currently in the SWAC. He is a national hero to African Americans and is well known to the majority population.

Casey is the face of JSU. One season doesn't dictate a face of the SWAC, some of you peeps and your foolish pride. Hell it took Eddie Robinson more than one year. I laugh at some of you lmao.

Man don't say that, some people's blood pressure will rise and they will have a stroke but Doug is definitely the most popular person presently in the SWAC, hands down and it even took him longer than one damn season when he played football to build his name.

I agree. Doug is the biggest name in the SWAC currently. A SB MVP and the only black to win the big game as the starting Qb and he played on some of those legendary Rob teams. Lastly he has won titles as a coach at Gram during his first stint.

Come on GR. Stop letting your man crush on Casey cloud your thinking. While he should be promoted for individual recognition this year. He is not the face of the SWAC so to speak. Casey is not a 4 year or even 3 year starter. To me in any conference you have to do it for awhile. Kind of how Peyton Manning and Tebow did in the SEC. For a player to be the face of a conference, he can't be a johnny come lately transfer or have just one year of glory. McNair was the face of the conference when he played. Bruce Eugene probably was the last face of the conference. Guys who have some time and dues paid in the conference and have performed at a high level year in and year out.

True................But there is still no "face of the SWAC." He ain't the face of the SWAC.
Not even close to what ya'll asking.

Just saying.

maybe Walter Payton... but it's too many great players to come outta the Swac...as I was thinking back of the great players..I would say Jerry Rice...but then there's us youngsters who doesn't remember how dominant dude was...or even Micheal Stranhan..it's too many people to pick from to say one face to represent the conference.

I think they are talking present day.

Currently, it's Doug Williams (coaching staff).

OPOTY: Casey T (QB JSU)
DPOTY: J-Harris (LBer UAPB)

Athletic staff: AAMU. :read:

Lmao again...why yall JSers keep slapping that dude name up there... lmao
Now, if you're using this season coming, Casey is the easy choice. And P88 is a PV alum.

As for a historical face, I can't see any one person being it. Has to be a select group.

I guarantee when someone thinks SWAC, Casey isn't the first person they think of. Are some that naive?:emlaugh:

The SWAC will never, NEVER, NNNNNNNNEEEEEEEEEEEVVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR, have another Face of the SWAC. The Last Face of the SWAC was McNair with Bruce Eugene making somewhat of push but NOWHERE near McNair's Magnitude. Pete had a chance for a PERFECT TEAM to be the face of the SWAC in 2003 but we all know how that story ended....:D. Matter of fact, Alcorn vs. SU hasn't turned out well for SU.

Back to the Topic, McNair was and always will be the Last Face of the SWAC. The SWAC doesn't possess that magnitude anymore. Sorry, just facts.
