What a sad statement from a student at an HBCU.Originally posted by DAHILL
You cant tell me that I should lower my standards just because the school is an HBCU.

It must be a young thing if you don't see anything wrong with these guys selling themselves to whatever school can "slide you so much money under the table" or give you a "brand new SUV" or let you "stay in top of the line hotels."Originally posted by DAHILL
EXACTLY...
I dont know why people hate on black athletes for going to white colleges. If I was an All American in any sport, I would do the same thing. Some say, white colleges USE Black athletes, when black colleges do the same damn thing. White schools slide you so much money under the table. I just look at the players that went from high school that went to SEC Schools, all of them are driving brand new SUV'S. Wayne Madkin has brand new Explorer, Rashaad Moore (Tennessee) has a brand new Yukon. White schools FLY instead of riding buses. They stay in top of the line hotels instead of Holiday Inns. It isnt a hard decision. Plus you have alumni slippin you money under the table.

DaHill,
So why did you lower your standards to attend A&M, I know that Alabama and Auburn have better everything.

What for.... you act like I am some black dude trying to be a white boy. Anybody that knows me knows that I dont like white people for real. I have never went to a white school. I am the type of student that will use them instead of letting them use me. I have good grades, I wouldnt be what you call the "border line students"
I don't think that anyone is saying that you are trying to act white(whatever that is)but many are concerned with your apparent justification of selling one's sole just to say that I played football here. The SEC and Big 12 are notorious for having low graduation rates ranging from 29-34%.What happens to 2/3 of the players that don't make it or wash out of the NFL in their first 2 years?Steve Wilson may have lost his football mind but many of hs players went on and became very successful after football with their degree in hand as accountants, engineers, teachers, physical therapists etc....What are the former football players from UTK,AU,UAL,UGA,OU,etc... doing?Sadly the for too many the answer is nothing. You chose an HBCU because you saw the best chance for personal growth on a social and intellectual level.
The first woman ever to win gold medals in the 4 by 100-meter and 4 by 400-meter relays. She also won a silver medal in the 400-meter dash, finishing second to teammate Valerie Brisco-Hooks. Cheeseborough had won the Olympic Trials in an American record 49.28 seconds. She won the national indoor 200-yard dash in 1979 and from 1981 through 1983. At Tennessee State, Cheeseborough was a member of national championship teams that set world indoor records of 1:08.9 in the 640-yard relay and 1:47.17 in the 880-yard sprint medley relay.
