IF GRAMBLING PLAYED RICHMOND or MONTANA?

yeah, let's cancel homecoming and the oldest classic in bcf, so we might can get sent to Turnip, Wyoming.

yeah, the alumni will love that and it'll be sooooo good for the bottom line.

:scared:
Then quit acting like you want to clown JSU while Bamma State never had the gut's to even try the playoff's once.:shame:

MH.
STR8 question.

WHEN DID ANYONE SAY CANCEL THE BAMMA STATE/SKEEGE GAME?:noidea:
bet every thread like this say move the game back a week and NOT CANCEL.

Please let that lie die.:shame:

Oh good GOD.
Could ya'll please stop this "Gram/SU give up the BC".

We have had 100 threads like this and not one person has ever said give up the Bayou Classic or Bamma St/Skeege game.
I'll lay done money that you can't find a post that say's give up the BC anywhere that was serious if it was even posted. :(

People just said MOVE THEM UP A WEEK OR 2.
Mofo's act like the world will end just for a suggestion. :shame:

Stagg I never said they should give it up or move it. My point was that why even make the argument to do anything with it. Both Schools need it and it will only be successful on the weekend after thanksgiving so it's all a mute point. Single minded thinking at it's best.

He also lost to ULM, Nevada, and Pittsburgh since at Grambling. He lost to Delta State and North Alabama at NCCU, with both times coming in the first rounds of the DII playoff.

Delta State record was 12-3 with them losing to Grand Valley State in the 2006 DII playoff.

North Alabama record was 11-3 with them losing to Northwest Missouri State in the 2005 DII playoff.

In both cases, Broadway had a better record than each team he played.

Ok... the losses to ULM, Nevada, and Pittsburgh are to be understood. We were competitive last year in the ULM (who beat Alabama shortly after beating us) and reasonably competitive against Pitt (who knocked #2 West Virginia out of the BCS championship). Nevada blew us out the water...but this year's team was too young for such a test as the season opener.

Now at NCCU, he lost to two established D2 programs. 2005 was perhaps his 3rd season at NCCU... I'm sure the playoff game was uncharted territory for them. The 2006 loss to Delta State was on a controversial call that was shown on YouTube due to the nature of the call. Can't remember the details but I do know it was a game changing play. But he didn't lose to them because they were PWC's...he just lost to better teams that were more established. That won't be a problem at Grambling... the way we dominated the conference (going undefeated is dominating) and the success we've had in recent recruiting makes me optimistic that we will continue to dominate the SWAC but also win our ooc games.

Personally, I'd like to see Gram schedule the La. Southland schools and beat them as we establish ourselves as the pre-eminent FCS school in the state.

I still say screw the playoffs if it doesn't benefit us. I liked A&M's schedule this year. We had a pretty good schedule. Unfortunately it didn't go our way, but it was a good start. You can't beat playing Tnsu, Jxs ville St, ULM and TU for OC games. We had a young squad and knew what to expect. We should keep that kind of schedul because it prepares or team to move foward.

Broadway will stay competitive but he will not go all out to win these games. He will protect his players at all cost to get ready for the Conference matchups. It came out his mouth mor than once. So apparently you guys have a different agenda than your head coach.

That was partly coach speak to keep a young team from getting too overly concerned and thinking the season was done prior to conference starting... he also de-emphasized the Alcorn / JSU game to a certain extent. With a more veteran team, I expect his comments to be very different. With them, he puts the pressure on them to win it all.

Broadway is a veteran coach... he's not gonna put that kind of pressure on a young team. He didn't say the game didn't matter, but he clearly wanted to take that pressure off his young team. Broadway is old school and a lot of his comments will be coach speak.

Back to the original question,
I don't think grambling could beat richmond or montana this year....but i don't think they would lose to all the fcs schools either.

I'll chime in now.

Just as long as Dillon is the primary and sole QB for Grambling and they played @ the level of their last 8 games, I'd like their chances vs either of the other FCS schools. :| They were really clicking and I liked what I saw. Their style of play is perfect/well suited for OOC competition. No c***n ball. They did what they were supposed to.

I give them the nod.

Stagg I never said they should give it up or move it. My point was that why even make the argument to do anything with it. Both Schools need it and it will only be successful on the weekend after thanksgiving so it's all a mute point. Single minded thinking at it's best.

Shaw........why does this have to be about SU/GSU or Bama State......oh let me add TXSU and PB?

The SCG is keeping yall out the playoffs not the BC. JSU went plenty times before then while the BC remained on the same date and the TDC went on. It aint our games.

Not to mention you folks keep acting like it held JSU back. Tell your president to stop voting with the other presidents. It is simple as that. Hold yall's president to fire and demand you move the Alcorn game back to Thanksgiving or tell him to start the plan for JSU to move into a new conference or become independent. See what he says.......you might be shocked.

This whole competing for the playoffs is killing me. All our lazy arse ADs have to do is schedule those teams in the regular season and then our coaches and players go whoop their arses. The only reason folks feel inferior or behind is because we aint won a playoff game and the fact we aint scheduling nobody. Going to the playoffs and continue to lose like we have in the past aint the answer either. Just think......we had better coaches and athletes then. So there are more things we need than just being eligible for the playoffs.

Also it aint about SU and Gram or Bama State. It is the SCG yall need to beyotch about. By the way we aint the only conference who says fugg the playoffs. The Ivy League don't go either. They can be 12-0 and will not even think about playoffs. I wonder do their conference or teams feel inferior. I wonder if a kid will say I rather go to UMass than Harvard so I can play for a National Championship. LOL.

So this single minded thing is on your damn President. Mason is guilty as the other presidents including SUs. They run the conference. Not the commish. So until folks at our schools go tell their Presidents and Chancellors they want the playoffs..........all these threads are moot. By the way.......have your checkbook ready to write out some money when you go talk to your President about it. Cause they are going to ask you to show them where it will benefit JSU, SU, Gram or whomever to take our arses to the playoffs. And they expect you to start financing some things instead of talking about it. That's exactly what they are going to do. See them white folks don't have to beg theirs for money.......they give it back freely. We sit around and beyotch and moan about why we aint this and that and aint writing not one damn check to our schools so that President can say you know what........we need to listen to these folks.

If the Ivy Alums want their schools to start being in the playoffs.........they will not only demand it.........they will have the money to back up their ideas and mouths.

The thing of it is this........only us TSPN folks talk playoffs. Ask the average SWAC fan what they want.........see what your attendence will be like when you host one of those playoff games that your own fans will think you are going to lose anyway. It is a sad commentary and I hate it is that way. But lets just be real.........the black college fan has not arrived or moved to the next level. Tn State fans hate being in that OVC for the most part. They only care about the games against other HBCUs. That is the world we live in. We like being around our own. Let me get off my soapbox.......but Shaw it is what it is and it is going to take more than moving some games around and becoming eligible for the playoffs. You got to start playing these teams in the regular season first or you will continue to get your head beat in when you do get to the playoffs. Then we got to start having better coaches, ADs , etc.....that is another big problem.

Things we need for our schools to evolve:

Passionate Alums and Friends of our programs that will open up their wallets and not just show up on game day. But show up every damn day.

Great Coaches and School Administrations that have a like vision for schools and are on the same page

Quality Facilities

Quality Student- Athletes

Sell our fanbase on the new HBCU world of sports and how we will compete. We have to get our fans to believe in what we are doing as you make the leap to play other FCS schools and not see our attendance drop.

JR is done :lecture:

For the same reasons everyone downed JSU for winning the East, I'll apply that same logic to Gram winning the SWAC. They didn't beat nobody. Winning those games would help them little in games against Richmond or Montana. I see them having a lot to Gram having a little. And they'd beat the rest of us a lot worse than that. You see what Richmond did to Armanti Edwards??? Dillon ain't nearly as mobile as Edwards.

It's not JR and you pretty much reinterated my point. We want to make money and will not change for the benifit of the conference so when we lose to all these OOC games stop bytching. We are what we want to be.

No matter how much I want our guys to compete for a National title, I know we need better coaching and players. Why is it that most coaching staffs at those levels have a diverse mix of coaches and players and for the most part our teams are riddle with one race and maybe a kicker or linemen of another race.

We need all the things you listed and we need a coaching staff that can recruit in every home. Or at least a coaching staff that can.

How can we recruit all other races in other sports but can't in football.
It's more than just the BC and the Turkey Day Classic.

JSU needs to win 11 games and win against whoever we play. That all any JSU fans wants. This only win the SWAC mess better stop going forward. Comegy want last after this recent extention if he keeps that mess up/

I like Dillon rob. If I didn't know any better, I'd think I'd left a seed w/ his mom back in the gap. lol The kid is very, very heady and plays damned well w/ passion. If he made mistakes, I hadn't seen them. :read:

Saw the FCS Championship game on Friday. Overall, I thought the game was well played.

I just began to think about Grambling being SWAC and BCF champs going up against either Richmond or Montana.

Having seen the G-men several times, I think that they could fair pretty well with Montana but probably have a very difficult time with Richmond.

Any thoughts?
I hate to say it, but Gram what get that ass kicked (along with all of the SWAC and Meac teams) by either of those two teams...hell throw in Mt.Union also

But Dillon ain't no Armanti Edwards. And it ain't Dillon that really makes Gram work. He's steering the ship, but they are capitalizing on the ineptness of the SWAC. "They" tend to be fundamentally sound.

Bid's go out on that SUNDAY..................THE WEEK BEFORE.:retard:

Ain't crying.
Just sick of negro's trying to make this out to be the best thing for ALL school's.

Heck.
I hope JSU/Alcorn do move it back to Thanksgiving Day.
We need to say FUGG the SWAC like the rest of ya'll.

But frat.......you act like it aint your President or past presidents going with this. Also it aint those games that keeps you guys out. It is the SCG that the JSU president believed in. Same for whomever was the JSU president who agreed to move the Soul Bowl to another date. Those are who you should blame. Our Presidents run the conference. Not SU or Gram or Bama State.

We were ineligible but the other conference members could go if they were ranked high enough and they did until 1999. That is on JSU and the other schools. When the Presidents got together for the SCG deal...........JSU president could have said hell no.........but they were right along with the deal. Mason can still say hell no. Also you are speaking only from your perspective and not the whole JSU fan base. Do you think the average JSU fan cares about the playoff. Not us on the board or some of the bruhs who know football. I mean the JSU alums and boosters........do they care? If they did.........they would be all over Mason to raise hell with the other SWAC presidents or at least get him to bring it to the table.

Do the JSU faithful give your president the same treatment they give Comegy when he loses. I am playing devil's advocate here bruh and not trying to stir up anything. But the blame is at the feet of your own leadership as well. You can't just point the finger at Gram, SU or Bama State. We aint doing anything different from the 80s. If JSU fans are mad that they can't compete for the playoffs.........that was the time to get WC Gorden and Walter Reed or whomever the AD was at the time plus Heffner to not move the Soul Bowl. JSU and Alcorn did it for themselves. Not for the conference. They found out they could still go if they would move their game back and yall did it. It wasn't a conference agreement that mandated it. So to say JSU and Alcorn went along with the SWAC is not true. Because the SWAC didn't ask yall to do that. If they did, then they would have forced the rest of us to move ours as well.

The sad thing is that no SWAC school since 99 has been fugged over for the playoffs by going to the SCG except Gram and SU. I don't think no one else has been ranked high enough anyway except those early 2000s Gram teams and the 2003 SU team to even merit an at large bid. The 99 SU team and the 99 JSU team may have gotten an at large berth.......MAYBE. Neither team was ranked in the top 16 that year. Well at least at the end of the year. So again the blame is at the feet of each President and Chancellor who went along with the SCG format.......I don't recall any school's prez being pissed off about it and saying he or she got railroaded into it. Those cats were looking at money and until we start writing checks........you better not call your President about the playoffs.........he gone go Jim Mora Sr on you. LOL.

I agree with your post. I just wanted folks to understand that this aint about SU or Gram or Bama St.......all our Presidents are in bed together and they run the SWAC which means if I don't like something.........I need to go voice it to our President or Chancellor.......knowing they will be like how much money do you give to SU. LOL. While I do give every year it aint enough for them to say........JR you are right. We need to move the BC and I will talk to the Gram President and then the rest of the SWAC prez's about doing away with the SCG.........I wonder how long before my Masonic brother Slaughter throws me out of his office.........LOL

.
yall have gotten an inferiority complex and we need to save yall. Hope it's not too late!
Thats why JSU couldn't win jack in the playoffs. Because most of the time they had more talent than the teams they faced. SU,Gram, and maybe Bama St. are the only schools that don't display this complex.

IMO Richmond's Defense wasn't to good but was lucky Montana insisted on passing instead of running down Richmonds throat.. Montana was picking up 4-5 yards a carry. Richmond's DB's were very SUspect though.

Dude, that's the dumbest comment out of all these posts. Jackson State had beaten several PWC schools during the time W.C. coached at JSU. Most of our playoff games were competitive as well, but our O-line was usually our weakest link with those type schools and it showed in the fourth quarter.
It had nothing to do with an inferiority complex. If you're going to type something on this page, at least let it be the truth.

Let's see what some of yall do against the likes of McNeese State and company.

I hate to say it, but Gram what get that ass kicked (along with all of the SWAC and Meac teams) by either of those two teams...hell throw in Mt.Union also

It is apparent you didn't see the South Carolina State vs Appalacian State game........

Bruh, I hope you are right about being optimistic, because as it stands, this conference is still hoping and dreaming. If SWAC schools can start winning games OOC and against PWCs, then the tables will be turn and others will be left with the excuses. Because as of now, all I'm hearing are plenty of excuses, but no real solution to the problem. And we should all know that before a problem can be solve, we have to recognize that a problem exist, which is SWAC schools are losing too many OOC games and PWCs games.
