The SWAC Championships should be about the game. If you tailgate you dont have time to do anything else. If you want to go out, Jackson has some alright spots. I always have fun.

thats true ....but Its easier to tail gate in Houston than it is New Orleans and More space to do whatever than it is in Jackson

Houston is one of those cities that will make you say F the SCG I'm just going to kick it. The city of Houston wins while the product suffers....

True that. Especially for the young crowd. Hopefully the SWAC has a plan. I know plan and SWAC in the same sentence is asking too much. LOL.

Tailgating in New Orleans is walking through the French Quarters or taking a stroll down Canal or Bourbon Streets. Too many eateries and fun things to do then to just hang out in a parking lot before or after a game, but New Orleans does have Champion Square next to dome where live entertainment is given. When Louisiana considers replacing the dome, which I think would probably be in the next 10 years, IMO the best location for the new arena would be the area just south of the Convention Center next to the river.

Are you talking about in the old warehouse district

That's not totally a bad thing. Of course we want people in the game but ecomomic impact is what cities want.

Houston don't need an economic impact, other cities in the SWAC could've benefited but what do I know. When I think of Houston I don't think about football.

Football is big in Houston. Just not SWAC football. LOL. The Texans are sold out and High School football is no joke. U of H and Rice don't count because most of the white people are A&M or UT fans no matter where they went to school. LOL.

I never said it football wasn't big in Houston. If I come to Houston a football game is the last thing I think of thats all I'm trying to say. The average SWAC fan that travel to Houston will take one look at the beautiful skyline and say man screw that game. You know that's how some SWAC fans are, after halftime they dipping lol.

You know it is interesting that I have read infinity posts about the attendance. The SWAC's look on tv is not the worse in the world. Look at all of the lower tier bowl games and how many empty seats are there. We talk about basketball, same thing about a lot of other tournaments. HELL if we quit comparing ourselves to the sec, big 10 & 12, & other conferences and just show up at the games this CRAP will not be discussed. Oh, let me back up this makes too much sense. Next thing that will be discussed is how SORRY & DUMB our coaches are because our teams didn't win. I never read about what saban should have done. In most instances what pwc coaches should have called in a game. When ESPN come to our schools where are we. HELL it may be best if we play football on Thursday, cause on Saturday most so called fans are watching the pwc schools play instead of attending our games. We need to wake up, stop downing our players, & fill up our own stadiums. The biggest insult is that we have vendor's selling non-HBCU hats & shirts at our games. Enlighten me if you see our hats & shirts sold at the PWS games. Now marketing on the other hand is a TOTALLY DIFFERENT TOPIC because it is a waste of time & breath discussing it. BTW, can someone PLEASE TELL ME HOW MUCH MONEY DOES THE SCHOOLS GET TO PLAY IN THE SCG? I feel like this game should be SCRAPPED & bring back the HERITAGE BOWL!!!!!

:sigh: Ya'll black folks kill me sometime. Where is P88? You NEED economic impact to get good hotel rates and better event sponsorship. If the city sees that we bringing 100K people to town, they won't want it to leave. With enough sponsorship money, you could fill up the stadium with HISD kids.

Now most of the things you said made sense. Black folks don't like seeing the good in the things we do. The SCG was the 4th highest attended Championship game held last season. We would have been happier if we were dead last because that is just how we are.

As for scrapping the SCG, you go back to acting like somebody black. Most people think the SCG is bad cause it ain't whiteman approved. That statement can be a thesis but that is the bottomline. IT'S OURS! Why scrap something that WE own to be in something with somebody else. Ownership is key to everything in this world. Also, if you think we should scrap it due to money, how do you think if 10 schools can't benefit financially that 22 schools could benefit financially from a HB? BTW, the SCG does make a profit. That is why our President's continue to sanction but we are not satisfied with that either. Most of our fans want it to lose money so they don't talk about it making profit.

Where you are from, do they have to pump light to it?

SU is playing UH at Reliant on August 30. It will be the first college football game at the stadium with the new scoreboards that are being built (think Cowboys Stadium...but located at both endzones.). Reliant is increasing there college football dates now that they have a removable field turf for college and high school football (Texans play on natural grass that is removed on trays). UH is playing their games at Reliant while their new stadium is being built. Sam Houston and SFA play the battle of piney woods every October at Reliant, which increased attendance every year (drew around 28,000 last year). I think the SWAC Champ. game can draw more than that game.

yea we are not good fans.. LOL but look at the CIAA. Those people don't care about the games either.. However, since our game can't get a better start time than noon, it won't be competing directly with that skyline. I will however be competing with the hangover from the night before.. LOL A 3PM kickoff would be ideal but I know for TV time, we would never get that.
