Hobson and Barlow suck!

My thing

How a sad team calls out a team that's won more games than them Lmao

Maybe I'm thinking hard on this one

Dude yall struggled against FAMU..cut it out...Lol

And what has that got to do with anything I said in the post above or in the past on the JSU leaving" subject. I said that when we was winning. I have not liked this conference since we went in to self imposed segregation. :goof:

But TP, Alcorn has been playing at the comforts of their own facility. I said a few weeks ago it would be interesting when they hit the road. Outside of the USM game. I think this Gram was their toughest road game. On the reservation they will be much tougher to beat.

Another thing, Gram is playing solid and enthused football. They buy into what their coach is saying. That sometimes is enough to get you by teams. I guess since Fobbs coached for the white folks, he ain't scared of them. LOL.

It's amazing what that will do for a team... Look how your team responded to Odums once Stump departed. Also look at how JSU players are responding to OMJ. #caseclosed!

ya'll been D2 for decades.

Jackson State just need to go OUT OF THIS CONFERENCE. I would not be mad at all so don't think it is an insult.

Frat. Getting out the SWAC will not help yall until the old heads are run away from the program and have no more say so on who gets hired. Instead of losing to PV and Valley back to back. You would be getting beat down by the PWCs in whatever conference you go to. I understand this conference aint all that. But you need to be winning that NOT ALL THAT conference on a regular to think you can leave and do better. If you can't even win a sorry conference. How you going to luck up and be competitive in a better or bigger conference? You still could not trust your folks to hire the right people to compete.

Our players are responding well to coach Jackson. They are not quitting and play hard til the end. Most of our games have come down to the last 2-3 minute .. or seconds (lol) of the game!

JR...I don't think ya'll could beat PV at the point and Grambling gonna run ya'll off the field by halftime.

I know it looks easy from the outside, but I would think that Bama State, JSU, TxSU & SU would have an more of an advantage due to their locations... Especially Jackson. In the State Capitol you guys are the only game in town. What I'm saying is your fanbase is built in and you should be able to recruit from within the city and the nearby area with great success. I think what has hurt you guys is the hirings... yall never replaced W.C. Gorden (Big Daddy was a helluva coach but he passed away shortly after getting the nod). The Sarge was a mistake in terms of being the head coach... good JSU man and good coach but at that time, I felt yall needed a more Charismatic guy that could recruit.

But this is the smack board and not a place for analysis. Later!

lawd he just called Hughes Sarge!

MB, GSU has not had JSU talent since.. ummm ever. It's been the coaches.

That is just a lame excuse for our teams to stay living in the past.

People don't want to admit that a part of the problem as to why these kids, TALENT, don't come to our schools is because of the reputation, perception, and isolation of the SWAC as a football conference. People will not admit that but I hear it from these kids all the time.

Forget the blue chippers.
Just ask a second line football player, (talent wise), about playing in the SWAC around here and they will say why? What do we play for that they are used to setting their pre-season goal at? They can go to one of these JUCO's hoping for a second recruiting chance, win NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS, and play with more talent than all our schools have combined as for 3, 4, and 5 star players from all over the country. Gulf Coast JUCO got more talent on that team than if we took the best players off our SWAC teams and made one team. FCS is a hard enough sell to these kids. FCS + SWAC is dam near impossible these days to sell unless some of their family went to one of the schools.

And even family don't matter anymore. Trey Smith, the SPEAKS kid from Callaway, etc, etc. They don't even give us a visiting nod and their fathers and brothers played here at JSU. We have basically started accepting whatever come our way and hope we can steal a FBS washout or a 3rd line talent player every 2 years or so. :smh:

Who know what any of us will do if we leave the SWAC. I know we would be getting a bigger conference share of the pie than the crumbs we get from the SWAC. I hate hearing people use that excuse about if a HBCU go to YT's conference, they will flop. Who say so besides US. We too dam scared to take a chance as a whole.

Leaving the SWAC and joining a modern conference might just be the start of a good thing.

Fobbs really is not that good either. I remember when Comegy had us at 5-1 his first year. It was NOT a sign of things to come.
Ya'll get happy over the smallest things....

Frat, we don't have the infrastructure. You don't just move. Talent don't come to MOST FCS conferences. Kids rather go FBS if they can and if they get a FBS scholly they are going.

It is deeper than family not going to play for our schools. Unless we moved to a Power 5 conference the kids you spoke of ain't interested anyway. Even if JSU was in the Sunbelt or whatever conference USM and U of H are in now. Those kids still head to the SEC if they get a chance. Just like a white kid who parents went to McNeese, NW La State etc will pass on those schools to head to LSU if they get an offer. Kids are going to go with the big dogs if they get an offer.

We have the model of what you can do in a FCS white conference. Tenn State is that model. What has it done for that school? Seriously. Even basketball it has not helped it much. Unless you are talking about making a FBS move. These kids WE USED TO GET are not coming to a FCS school. You see the NFL draft. Not many FCS school kids name called. Not even the ND State kids. You better believe they will turn down ND State if the U of Minnesota calls them or U of Iowa calls them up. Those kids play well because they are COACHED well. What we have not adjusted to is getting good coaching. The Naval Academy gets no where near the talent the other FBS schools do. But them SMART mofos are disciplined and coached well enough to compete at the FBS level. I bet USM has way better talent than USNA. But they will get beat to sleep by them because they have no damn coaching over there.

Also you guys never answer is what bigger conference wants any of our schools? What does any of us bring to the table. Forget moving to another FCS conference. What lower tier FBS conference wants us? Have they reached out to any of our schools and say come on up to play? You do realize the commitment it will take to move up. You can't be hiring no mofos like Harold Jackson or even Big Worms to be coaching our schools. Oh yeah that 269K just became at least 400K to be coaching a FBS level team. Maybe even more. You better recruit more students to enroll at JSU. 10K students ain't going to cut it at the FBS level. It's more to it than just to move on up. Schools like App State, ND State can because they have the enrollment and infrastructure to do so.

I would love to see a black school at the FBS level. But your enrollment better be 15-20K and your alums better be ready to write checks at a drop of a dime and you better be ready to pay whatever entrance fee to whatever FBS level conference you joining. If you talking joining the SLC with McNeese. Then you can go ahead. You see how well it is doing for SELA and Nicholls State's programs. Them mofos have no money.

I just get tired of us complaining we should move up or move out the SWAC. Once again, tell me what conference wants any of our schools. What do you bring to the table. You don't think McNeese is tired of their conference? Playing for FCS no money titles when their folks up the road in ULL is FBS now? Same for ULM who was 1-AA at one time. You don't think McNeese wants to be on that level? I wonder why they have not left their sad conference. You see Texas State rolled out. UTSA stayed a minute and now is FBS. We have no where to go Frat. That's the bottom line. If JSU got that kind of loot and pull, yall would have been gone. As soon as you ask them old arse BBA mofos for a few million dollars to go play with the big boys. They going to pull lent out their damn pockets and act like they don't even know what you talking about. LOL.

I know this but our problem is the majority of us don't even have a plan in place to START working towards that goal. You look at a lot of HBCU's and they are still offering the same degrees, in the same numbers that they offered 20 years ago. I know open admissions is a touchy subject, but we also have to tighten that up also to move up the academic ladder.

I say somebody need to take the leap.
Ain't like Troy State had millions and millions in surplus when they moved. They doing all-right. NOT WORLD BEATERS but they are getting a better class of athlete since the move.
