I've got better things to do than to hate on the "perfection" that is GSU ...

As I stated before this is Kenn Reshad's site and he can and always has maintain it the way he sees best fits his needs. As I stated in the post above some sites and news related sources actually go after stories by researching, following, questioning a subject, interviewing an individiual and finally writing an article...

...as well I stated that Kenn has obvious decided that he does not either have a desire, time and/or resources necessary to do this type of work so he is just a carrier of the news releases from other sources i.e. sports information directors and conference media sources whom do the decated work listed above.

Therefore if he does not receive it through these mediums it will not be published on the front page.

My point is Kenn's posting of an e-mail that was sent to his e-mail account on the sportspage in my humble opinion was not very professional. His additional repsonses on the matter where not very professional as well.

If you are going to solicit "donations" for funds to help support the operations of this page, then you should have the common courtesy to handle questions of your purpose and operations in a more professional manner.

Remember as professional business person you should be above reproach. If not, then your business will some day have to answer to your business practices.
 



I agree with Panther, and Kenn has recieved e-mails from me praising his efforts on this site (since 1997) and when I think he his out of line.

By him being the webmaster of the site and tell UAPB Fans to stop blowing up his e-mail address, tells me he doesn't want support of UAPB. I didn't e-mail him on this issue, therefore as a professional he should not have address me.

Kenn, you are right, after going back to your site index page, I did notice the logos have been removed, but there is a UAPB link there and being the UAPB is a member of the SWAC, that is enough. I guess if there is only one player in the SWAC that gets drafted and you couldn't get any info from the UAPB SID, then at least put one sentence out there based on info from any source like espn.com, nfl.com. But your stance on this issue shows me you are biased to the information you report, but AGAIN it is YOUR site and you run it LIKE you please.

I don't read the front page a lot but when I do all the news articles are from the schools and not authored by Kenn. I don't feel it is fair to say Ken should "search these things out" when a school doesn't send them. I also can agree if kenn doesn't copy article from other news sources (like other news papers and Websites) that create thier own stories. It is one thing for a user to copy and post a newspaper story on a message board but something different for a website owner to post it for his content. I can agree with Ken not doing that. Without being to negative, the bottom line is this was a story that should have been written by the UAPB SID and sent out to Ken. If he didn't post it, then you got a something to complain about.<br><br>Vinta, you done went off. My post wasn't directed at you. I agree with most of what you posted on this. It seem like you are mostly angry at your own school. A few years ago, we fired the SID we had here at Southern. Kevin has done a great job since he has come onboard under challenging conditions. <br><br>Da Sperm, I think your are going way to far. Just because Ken has a link to UAPB, doesn't mean he has to write news releases and stories for yall. I guess you are saying anyone that put a link to your school on thier site should write stories that go with it. Come on, that is not real. That is your SID's job. We should be able to click on that UAPB link and get all the stories we want about UAPB.

Ken does support your school, first he has a link to your school's site (drives traffic there, that's how I first visited your school site and that comprehesive athletic web site), he has a private forum for Pine Bluff, has a Pine Bluff alumni as a moderator
so that is not a fair or accurate statement. It is not in what kenn should doing going to site like you mentioned trying to find and copy news.

Yes, Lewis, you are exactly right. I am highly irritated with our athletic department, and how information gets out. I have been very vocal about my displeasure since BEFORE I was an alumnus. I just keep fussing. Eventually, I guess, someone will start raising hell with L.A. Davis (as opposed to Kenn Rashad), and he'll think I have legitimate complaints, as opposed to excuses to come to his house and raid his refrigerator!

And Get Ready? I'm gonna go out on a limb and give my answer to your question as YES. Why? Because by the time that happens, TSPN will be in its forty dozenth reincarnation, the year will no doubt be 2167. Hopefully by then, we'll have an SID who does more than assume giving info to two papers is doing enough.
 
Vinta, Good post, I hope things get better. My school also has a way to go to get to where we need to be. But we all have to keep it real. If it will help, I will send a message to your peeps to jump start the situation.<br><br>BTW, looking at your sig., since I am a Alpha and my last 4 significant others have been deltas, you are probably trouble for me (smile). For a person who runs a website of his own that attempts to go head to head with this website, I could give a rats ass about your humble opinion. In the professional sense, you are a competitor of this site (for what that is worth). If you want to stress professionalism, why would your ass come here trying to tell me how to run my operation? That not very professional. In fact, its pure stupidity. You should put your website in a position to capitalize off the weaknesses of this site, instead of *****in' and moanin' to me.

I am not trying to be above or beyond reproach with it comes to this website, its just not my style and it is never my intention. This is a message board. A place where people (including myself) come to express/exchange ideas and opinons. I felt the need to express my thoughts on this subject and I stand by it.

And for a person who hasn't given me one gott dayum penny to to run this site, who are you to tell me what to do about anything I do on this site.
 
Damn Ken, don't hold anything back, now tell him how you really feel. You kinda used a sledge hammer to kill an ant, but I guess it worked.
 
It's sad that some of us expect Kenn to take criticism without giving a rebuttal. I can't speak for Kenn but I don't think his initial post was intended to be taken so seriously. Ok so he singled out UAPB, maybe he felt "close" enuff to most of you longtime UAPB folk to handle it this way. Apparently, he made an error in judgment in that regard as well.

I can understand how some of you feel slighted because GSU, SU and JSU gets more ink and media coverage than the rest (even outside TSPN). However, I've noticed that a lot of the headlines about these schools appear whether they are negative or positive. In other words, as it is presented is how it's given.

Everyone has a right to an opinion and far be it from me to silence anyone's voice. Criticism with the intent to make something better is one thing, but criticism fueled by petty jealousness and competiveness is what I find unprofessional!

The people I'm talking about are not with the media and they pass the info on to people here on the board. I know some info is suspect so you may not want to print that on the news page, but some info is factual. Like Kenn said he don't get info from some SID's but it is still out there to be printed on the news page, because it is news. To me there is more news found about the Swac here than on their on website (sorry Swac PR Man, but you know the deal). Although this site is not officially affilliated with the conferance, everyone knows about it and know they can get info here.

You are right, I don't expect every little bit of news about UAPB to hit this site. But if anyone in the country wanted to know what SWAC players were drafted, they sure couldn't come to this site to find out, AND THAT IS SAD. If it was a story on spring practice or something on a golf recruit, I could understand, but not the only player from the SWAC to get drafted.

Call me blind, but I can't see it.

From the CFA Rulebook, 2001 edition......Release of Offiicial Information Section.......


The Sports Information Director's primary responsibility is to prepare, validate and disseminate Sports Information for the University. Information requested and received from this Office shall be deemed 'Official'. All media releases shall be printed on Official University Letterhead, complete with Unversity Seal, and address including telephone contact information.... It is the SIDs duty to disseminate information to all relevent media outlets, and official game statistics to the Governing Athletic Body (NCAA) within two hours of completion of the Athletic contest. The SID and Athletic Director are solely responsible for the accuracy of the statistics and press releases.


There you have it, from the Rulebook.....If the SID doesn't put out the info, then Kenn isn't responsible for not posting it....The story wasn't posted on the Associated Press wire or Reuters, either...
 
Informative Taylor-Made'90!!

I suppose the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff's sports information director does not view Kenn Rashad's e-mail request for sports related information to be posted on the SWACPage Site; Rashad Communication as a "relevent media outlet".

If he handle the request for information from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff's sports information director in the same professional manner he handled the e-mailed question from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff requestor, then I could not blame the sports information director for not providing the information to Kenn Rashad.

It does not seems as if the official SWAC Website, Onnidan Website, Inside Black College Sports Website or SWACSports Website, has a problem with publishing such informative HBCU information to the general public in naming HBCU NFL draftees and free agent signees. This included the listing of SWAC member, University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff's NFL Draftee Dante Wesley by the Carolina Panthers in the 4th round.

Did you get any information from our SID?

I'm not asking to be antagonistic. I'm just wanting to know.

What I've been trying to say all along is that people are angry and raising hell in the wrong direction, because it is the J-O-B of the S-I-D to make sure that information gets out to as many outlets as possible.

I don't know if any of my fellow UAPB supporters have noticed two things>

1. The only time ANYTHING about UAPB is on the front page is when it is in the context of UAPB competing with someone else. I'm guessing that information did not come from Arkansas.

2. Since Valley got a new coach, there has been more information on the front page about Valley. Not just football, but SPORTS, PERIOD. My guess is the football coach lit a fire under the AD, who in turn lit a fire under the SID. Hence the improvement in the dissemination of information.

Incompetent+Dumb+Clueless=PROBLEMS, LACK OF INFO, and DISCORD!

I could be wrong but I doubt that any of the sites you mentioned got an official press release from the UAPB SIDs office.

And if they did, why do you care about this one.
 
SWAC.org had it, and it read EXACTLY like a press release, but I didn't see anything on Onnidan about it.

Those are the only two sites I frequent.
