I didn't see Julius Peppers draft information on unc.edu. So I guess it is not out the norm for universities to not boast on their websites about there atheletes post-college careers.

Now, as a visitor of YOUR site, I expect that news about the SWAC would at sometime make it to the site. I mean, you are using the SWAC's name and each school name to boast hits to the site. So I don't except "SIDS from certain schools not contacting you' as an excuse to not report information". If that is the case, then I would rather you pull my school logo off your page if you can't report information.

I use certain sites to get sports information about UAPB. And this site was one until this week. As far as I am concern. this site is just a way of keeping in contact with SWAC students and alumni. SWAC sports information is just a plus because it is minimal.

Now, like I said earlier, you treat this site like the little boy who brings his ball to the court and reminds everybody that it is his ball and if things don't go his way, he takes his ball. Any time you are called out, you first response is this is MY site. I say take your ball and go home.


What is really SAD is you don't have enough professionalism than to call out an entire FAN base for your lack not being able to get information OR your unwillingness to report on this subject.

Oh, where on the gram.edu is there information about the 2 players to sign free agent contracts.
 
Well I guess you didn't look closely enough because the official sports website for the Univ. North Carolina does have info about Julius Peppers being drafted.

Now, how you choose to utilize this website is up to you. I will be the first to tell you or anyone else that every single bit of SWAC sports information will not be published. And I am fully aware that there are others sources on the Net in which to get your news info about UAPB.

You are right about one thing though. This website is mine. I operate it the way I feel it should be operated based on the feeback and suggestions that I get from the visitors. Just like any other webmaster would run his own website and just like the way you run yours.

In case you haven't noticed, I don't use UAPB logos or any other SWAC school logos either.

If you and others want to question my professionalism, you are will within your right. It comes with the territory. It is not the first time that it has happend.

And it is true that Grambling did not annouce its free agents on its website, nor did the SWAC schools who also had free agent signings. But those schools also did email me about not publishing that info on the website either.

Why should Kenn have to do your SID's job? The Sports Information Director, at all schools, is the individual responsible for putting information out. The newspapers don't call or stop-by, unless for a beat writer, everyday to dig information for the paper. Its submitted by the school. When JSU got blasted 20-9 by SLU this week, JSU's SID office sent in the brief. The Advocate didn't call JSU to find out the score. Even here at Southern, our SID, has about 50-60 email addresses for media and fans around the country. Even the NCAA is on that list. So do not even ask Kenn or any other media outlet....notice the noun...outlet...to contact your school to find out information, the school should contact the outlets.

Winfield closed out her career at Southern, averaging 20.7 points per game, with a shooting percentage of 41% from the field.
The Wesson, Mississippi native holds the school record for most points scored in a single season (666), highest scoring average in a season (21.5 ppg), and became the fastest player to reach the 1000 career point plateau in 45 games.

Was this put out in the Dallas News? the Sun Weekly? Moblie Register? Well I don't know, but I do know that they got it. The SWACPAGE got it too, thats why its on here for SWAC fans to see. Have your various SID departments do their freakin jobs, so Kenn can have fun with his hobby, why is that so hard to understand?

That about clears up everything I wanted to say. I don't think they know what Sports Information Director means! There is more to that job than keeping stats!!!:idea:

As I have said before, the reports that are published on the front page come directly from the SWAC SIDs. I do not write these reports.

Kenn, some stuff is obvious to us (TSPN Family) and should be reported whether or not you get any info from the SID. I know the SID at PV don't get anything out and it's a shame and it wasn't even reported about the new hire of our basketball coach.

TPF, you need to w/ Mcclelland and take that job over, so when we continue to clean house over there in the athletic dept his job goes too.

Question:

If he doesn't recieve it from the SID's office, hows does he know it happened?
 
Some sites and news related sources actually go after stories by researching, following, questioning a subject, interviewing an individiual and finally writing an article.

It seems though Kenn does not either have a desire, time and/or resources necessary to do this type of work so he is just a carrier of the news releases from other sources i.e. sports information directors and conference media sources whom do the decated work listed above. Therefore if he does not receive it through these mediums it will not be published on the front page.

But, I am under the perception if you are going to create a resource used by the general public that there are just some general working business principles one should adhere too. In my humble opinion, Kenn does not adhere too those principles by his current working practices. It is obvious that he has his own personal agenda and direction that he has set for this page and as a founder and sole proprietor of this enity he has every right to do so.

Just as those that use this site as a resource to exchange dialogue have a right to voice their dissatification with those practices and/or choose another medium to exchange that dialogue.

Being that our AD has the intelligence of swampwater, I e-mailed him and told him about TSPN, and that it is a good outlet go get information to alumni and interested others who may not visit the school website that often.

I gotta really support KEN on this one. It is not in the SCOPE of what ken should do as a WEBMASTER of this site to go out and chase and author stories. IF his procedure is to request stories from the SID and post the ones he gets, that is very fair. I am sure it takes enough of his time to just keep this site running and to make an occational post under his alias. I REALLY DON'T THINK A SCHOOL HAS ANY LIGITAMENT COMPLAINT WHEN THIER SID DOESN'T SEND THE INFO. KEN ASKED, BUT YOUR SID IS NOT ON THIER JOB. YOU NEED TO BOMB YOUR SID'S EMAIL (if he has one) I have run websites in the past and had the same problem, people don't send me the info, but get mad when nothing is posted. <br>I also agree with Ken posting the email so thier is no question on what was discussed. So here are some options (I am a problem solver): <br>1) Get on your SID's arse and make the incompetent, technically challenged buster do his job. <br>2) Since you love your school so much, do his job for him and just get him to check it off as being accurate and send it to KEN<br>3)Get our SID fired, and get someone to do the job right.<br><br>Probably not an option, expecting Ken to do your SID's job for him.

Kenn, don't even sweat this mess man. Those that are complaining, appear to not have a clue about what it takes to run a website.

Why doesn't Kenn cut and paste from other websites? It's a copyright violation. Why bother with the headache?

Why don't SWAC schools maintain websites like PWC? Poor leadership, lack of vision, lack of knowledge and a number of excuses.

Only during football season are websites updated with any consistency. Some websites are not updated at all. Instead of b--chen, make suggestions. Insure that your ADs and SIDs are doing their job, which in turn makes Kenn's job easier and we all smile cause we can read articles on each one of our schools.

You use this site just as much as the rest of us. When I catch a story on Southern, I will send it in and or post it on a board somewhere. You have the gall to blame the creator, of at least one, of two HBCU related sports boards for being non-professional. That is wild! How much do you pay to use this board? Huh? Oh...thats what I thought....not a damn dime! Why in the hell would Kenn interview Priarie Views new basketball coach? Hasen't that been done by the Houston Chronical? PV SID office? USAToday? If so, then you go to the sites you talk about, copy and paste it on here. Or, call the SID and have him send the same thing, that he sent everywhere else, to the SWACPAGE.

You mentioned this being for general public use, very good you said that, USE IT! Thats what this is here for...sharing information. Not for the webmaster to chase for your stories for you to see and talk about.
 



By the way, just talked to Joe at The Advocate and Grambling just faxed in info that they swept TSU in Baseball, not that its gonna help anything, they are still out of the Tourny, but they sent it in. Thats the way this stuff works.

Hell, I have the HOME PHONE NUMBERS for the SID, the AD, and the Chancellor, and I won't hesitate to call them at their homes.

An SID is only as affective as the AD forces him to be, and when the SID is as intelligent as a pre-school painting, and the AD is 6 months younger than Jesus, we can't expect anyone to know **** about UAPB other than how we represent it.

The same way everyone else here on the board reads it. All I'm saying is that information is received from people here on the board and also posted and everyone knows it's news. Thats all I'm saying about how people get the info. I posted when the football player was drafted by and what spot in the draft. It wasn't hard info to come by, I posted all the scores for the basketball games on the board, all for the love of getting info out to our people here. I support the board in all phases and will continue to do so. There are plenty of people here that have connections with getting information besides the schools SID.

Don't make this thread a accusation piece about what gets where, lets keep the converstion clean and not call people names. We are all here for the same thing.....

Thats what I'm talking about. If other people get the information to write an article, the question is how did they get it. All the SWAC schools don't have beatwriters, so the information has to be passed on to the media outlets. The same method they pass info to media should be used to pass it to the SWACPAGE.
