In 5 years of running this website, why do you all of a sudden feel the need to get on my ass about me not publishing any reports about Donte Wesley getting drafted? Why wait until now to get on me about this?

I've been getting email from you (UAPB) people all day yesterday about this, but the email below was my favorite. I just have to share this with you.

TO BE DRAFTED.HE WAS THE 100TH PLAYER SELECTED. COME ON NOW...IF A GSU PLAYER GOT DRAFTED YOU ALL WOULD ROLL THE RED CARPET OUT. WE NEED TOO STOP BEING SO BIASED...(IF I CAN SAY THAT).....AND START GIVING PROPS WHEN THERE DUE.YOU GUYS NEED STOP THAT. THERE ARE ALL SORTS OF GOOD PLAYERS IN THE SWAC.ALL I'M ASKING IS FOR YOU...THE CREW.. TO BE FAIR IN YOUR SPORTS PUBLICATION. ENOUGH ALREADY!!!COME ON...DO I HAVE TO MENTION OTHERS LIKE CHRIS AIKENS(db) GREEN BAY,EARNEST GRANT(dT) MIAMI AND GREG WESLEY(db) OF THE KANSAS CITY CHIEFS WHO HAPPENS TO BE THE MOST PRODUCTIVE PLAYER DRAFTED...PERIOD...OVER THE LAST 2 YEARS!!ENOUGH IS ENOUGH....ONCE AGAIN WE NEED TO GIVE THESE YOUNG MEN THERE PROPER ACKNOWLEDGEMENT.

PS..GSU AND SOUTHERN AREN'T THE ONLY SCHOOLS IN THE SWAC....OH ..I WOULD HAVE NEVER GUESSED THAT IF I LOOKED SOLELY AT HOW MANY OF THEIR PLAYERS ACTUALLY GOT DRAFTED!!! GO FIGURE!!!

REPORT THE FACTS MY FRIEND...NOT WHAT LOOKS GOOD IN PRINT...I WILL, ALONG WITH MANY OTHERS ...HAVE A LOT MORE RESPECT FOR YOUR UNBIASED SPORTS REPORTING.

As I have said before, the reports that are published on the front page come directly from the SWAC SIDs. I do not write these reports.

If you have a problem with the lack of UAPB sports info being published on this site, do not contact me. Contact the sports information department at UAPB and ask them to put TSPN on its media email list ([email protected]).

Believe me, at one time or another, I have made a request (more than once) to every SID office in the SWAC that they send me sports info to be published on the front page.

BTW - This isn't only the case with UAPB. I don't get anything from PV, JSU, nor Bama State either.

So if it appears that most of the information published on the front page is from Grambling, Texas Southern and Alcorn, it because thats where I get most of the reports from. If you want me to publish more information about your school, contact your school SID and tell him to hook me up. <b>There is no fee to do this....IT IS FREE! </b>:rolleyes:

I'm glad you set the record straight.. Some of our SIDs are just not getting the job done. You would think all SWAC SIDs would take advantage of this opportunity for free press.

We complain about the newspapers when sometimes our Sports Information departments are the real problem.
 
Why cant you just post the article from a newspaper on the front page. I dont think a school should be punished on the board because their SID is not doing their job.
 
I suppose this was really a professional way to get your point out to the public that many SWAC Sports Information Directors do not send thier sports news publishing reports to this site.
 
I thought it was tacky. He (Kenn) could have explained the situation without calling the school's name out or posting an email from one of their posters. Professional??....:rolleyes:

I'm sorry you two don't approve. :rolleyes:

This was not meant to be a personal attack on the sports information directors, but I think it does say something about the overall departments. I am fully aware of the budget issues that our athletic departments face, but lets be real. It costs very little - or nothing at all - for a SID's office to create a yahoo or hotmail account and create a distribution list to send to media outlets.

The one thing that we have all preached at one time or another is that HBCU sports programs don't get enough media exposure. Some of them don't even get their fair share of exposure in their own media markets. For what it is worth, I am simply trying to assist in doing this very thing...create exposure.

The bottom line is that I can't report what I don't have. Given the number of email that I have received over time about this very subject...I thought it was time to say something publicly about it.
 
Kenn, I don't think any one of the fellas had a problem with what you're saying, it's the way you said it.....It came across offensive, but it's all good homey, I know what you meant. ;)
 
OTHER OPTIONS:

SOMEONE THAT HAS AN INSIDE TRACK WITH ALL THE S.I.D.'S, A.D.'S AND THE COMMISH AND KNOWS MORE ABOUT SPORTS THAN ANYONE EVER, SHOULD START A WEBSITE.

I understand UAPB's frustration; but, I think they could have asked Kenn about how articles get posted instead of accusing. I too wondered the same thing when I saw a lack of SU articles. I voiced my concern in our Jaguar forum and the Nation addressed the issue. Now, I have the pleasure of reading info about SU right here on the SWACPAGE. Sure, I still read The Advocate, but, this is my first stop. Keep up the good work Kenn and try to be nicer next time. :)
 
Well, I have always thought that this site was bias from day one of my first visit. Kenn has always treated this site like a little boy does his basketball at the court.

Not knowing this business, I would THINK that it would be the RESPONSIBILITY of the SWACPAGE to CONTACT the SIDS for information. NOT THE REVERSE. I could not imagine that a school like the University of Texas SID contacting every newspaper, website, and TV station about sports information. Why in the hell would this be ANY different. Is KENN's so arogant that this site is SO good that one must contact him?

I don't have to hide behind a damned e-mail! When I first saw the notice about the GLARING OMISSION :rolleyes: I asked about it, and Kenn told me that he gets information from the ADs.

Being that our AD has the intelligence of swampwater, I e-mailed him and told him about TSPN, and that it is a good outlet go get information to alumni and interested others who may not visit the school website that often.

My inbox is growing cobwebs waiting on his response.

I am already knowing that people from UAPB visit this website more than they will admit, because someone called me on the carpet for referring to the ADs as dinosaurs.

I don't know who sent that e-mail any more than anyone else does, so don't go putting my name in this ****. I have enough drama in my life all day, without being pulled into some internet garbage, so leave me out of the madness. Thanks

Maybe SIDs should contact Kenn. Maybe he should contact them. Maybe the **** should be cut and pasted and posted on the front page.

To add to this point...I do this on a part time basis. I don't have the time nor the resources to constantly contact the SIDs and ask that they send me info. I mean if I am asking for the info and I don't get it, what am I suppose to do?

BTW - The University of Texas does use a distribution list to contact radio, TV and newspaper outlets. How else is a media outlet suppose to know what is going on campus? Unless that medium has a beat writer, the only way anyone is going to report info is by getting it from the SID's office. The fact that the UT has an official website helps a great deal too.

One other thing - Since this obviously means a great deal to you UAPB folks, why doesn't your own campus website mention anything about Dante Wesley being drafted? I have searched everywhere on that site and I don't see anything. Its not even mentioned on the athletics section! I mean hey... he was the only SWAC player drafted right? Somebody needs to report this! This is big news!

Now this is SAD! You blow my email box up to ask why I didn't report anything about Dante being drafted on my website, but your own school doesn't bother to mention it either... and he is suppose to be one of your own!

I guess the UAPB webmaster didn't get the news from the SID either huh?
