HBCU Coaches on Hot Seat

Doubt it lol (especially with a new AD), he either wins or he will be sent packing. Special teams and defense has been solid under him. He seems to have made the right hires on the offensive side of the ball. A bunch of younger guys that have all worked in the Air Raid system under coach Mumme at some point in their careers. He should have a successful year
Ashley is not and will not make those calls as in who stays or go! Hughes has 2 years left to get the job done. Only way he is let go after this season is his team lay a big egg, like 3-9 season losing HC. 6-5 record keeps him and 5-6 record is borderline depending on the loses.

You quoted me pretty much to reiterate what I previously stated which is either Hughes wins or he will be sent packing.

Yep...Hughes and Hayward

I expected a lot more out of him at Texas Southern, but the I saw his team in person last year...man, they were terrible.

They were sure selling a whole lot of wolf tickets the summer prior to last season (I tried to "told" them...Thanks Justin Wilson)....Now some of them are at it again....LOL

Yeah, they did look bad in that game, but I expected that score to look much worst than a 3 score beating based on how poorly they played.

We will see when SU is at home for 2 years again....

SU folk don't take kindly to losing to GSU too often...LOL
Boy bye. Worry about your coaches getting ....... nvm let me hush. All imma say is that you are worried about the wrong thing

Nope. Worm did all he did with scholly restrictions, practice restrictions and no spring drills. This spring was the first time he ever had spring drills.

Southern was competitive that entire time. Now Worm’s contract is up after the 2019 season. Going to be interesting to see what he does in these next two seasons.

I gotta respect Worm for keeping SU in the mix despite sanctions. I do think he is going to bring it this year. SU has enough talent on the roster to beat everyone in the SWAC. I just want my G-Men to be ready for a tougher war than the past 3 years and ready to keep our streak rolling.

And that’s the thing...we had sub-par coaching and didn’t take advantage of a lot of the opportunities that Texas Southern gave us...I got worried after that game...and for good reason.

As far as Tony Hughes is concerned, I imagine JSU fans are as impatient as we are in Tallahassee...in Year 3, the Tigers have to show some tremendous improvement.

The FAMU/JSU game is gonna be very interesting...I’m interested in seeing this “Air Raid” offense they’re bringing to Tallahassee.

An y'all keep hammering on sTu...we played a ton of freshmen last year and had not qb to speak of. I expect a much better effort this season. If not, then things will be very interesting at 3100 Cleburne.

I was as disappointed as any sTu fan but I am cautiously optimistic.

I'd say Hughes is sitting in a warm seat! Lol! He has made some bold personnel changes on the Offensive side of the ball who are in turn bringing in a change in the offensive game-plan as well as additional personnel to instill it. We always keep a high ranking Defense. I think he'll get at least 1-2 years to see how this new Offensive scheme works.

If Hughes gets another shot and had a losing season, at most he will get a one-year extension and he better lose ALL 6 games in the last minute of the 4th quarter... lol

This is his contract year and nobody in Jackson would be sad to see him leave. 9 times out of 10, it's do-or-die for Hughes The Second!

TP is on the hot seat if JSU does not win this year no one will continue and listen to him and his security may be revoked.

I have not given ONE prediction on JSU this year. I have no idea how our team will look. The only thing I have said is that you all better hope we look bad... LOL

I think we have upgraded our QB position (thats not saying much) and we are going back to an up-tempo offense, high-risk offense.

Im excited to see how it plays out.

Im looking for pure foolishness in Lorman.

Where Hughes get two years from? He only had a 3 year deal.

Wheeler Brown, Jackson State's athletic director, said Hughes' contract is similar to Jackson's, which paid him $260,000 per year. Hughes earned $400,000 at Mississippi State this season.

"We'll be getting (those details) out shortly. I know it's three years and almost in line with coach Jackson's contract," Brown said. "Few more incentives, for APR and things like that."

Since S.U. Leads the all time series 34-29 and have 11 BCF National Titles to jsu 3 what does that make you busters a dummy football program? LOL

JSU leads the series since we been in the SWAC. No telling who or what ya'll were putting on the field before that. Cancel Christmas and thank Ole Pete.

Like Donald Trump, if you keep telling yourself a lie over and over again, you most likely will start believing in that lie. JSU joined the SWAC in 1958. SU previously beat JSU in 1929 at a score of 98-0. After that whooping, the two school didn't meet again until JSU joined the SWAC in 1958. The overall series is 34-29 SU and the SWAC series is 33-29 SU. Since 1990, SU leads the series 17-13. Before then, the series was basically tied. Ya'll did a number on us in the late 70's and the 80's, but that was it, which is less than one and half decades. The series has been played for six decades or 60 years with both teams meeting twice in two separate years (1999 and 2013) for the SWAC Championship game, which gave SU two additional victories over JSU. The only thing JSU can hang their hats on is that ya'll have the longest winning streak of 7 games over us from 1977 to 1983, but we can tie that streak when we win this year and next year. Not counting the initial meeting in 1929, our longest winning streak is 6 years, from 1958 to 1963, basically the Mumford years.

SU wants a Celebration Bowl Championship...they don't get one by 2019....Worm is gone.
Only thing is, this is the 1st SU has been Cele Bowl eligible. GSU wanted 1, SU wants 1, Alcorn wants 1, PV wants 1, J-State wants 1....

If Odums start losing many conference games and becomes mediocre, he will be gone.

You have lost your crack smoking mind....LMAO!!! I know you want to forget about your shameful 98-0 loss to Southern U. and add then subtract games. However y'all azz trail the series....LOL You all (jsu) are full of HBCU football dubious distinctions. The fact of the matter is jsu and jsu alone is 0-12 in the FCS playoffs, played brides made to Grambling in the 70's, allowed Central State to be the team of the 80's, S.U. just took team of the 90's away from jsu, got Molly Whopped by Skegee last year and will forever be known as loser of SCG I. That my friend is a quick trip down memory lane. LOL …..BTW, Ace Mumford and Pete Richardson beats jsu entire history both individually head to head in BCF National titles. (And stop lying jsu is behind since joining the SWAC 33-29)

I believe that Odums will get his chance to show but I do believe that if he doesn’t win this year that the experiment with OC Berry will end. He will be the OL coach again, I also believe that Odums will head to NCCU if they have a bad season up there. Hughes will need to improve tremendously in order to be retained, remember they tried to implement the Air Raid under the Old man when they brought in Timmy Chang to be OC after Comegy era. sTu will improve because the seat is warm there. And Bama State need to realize that they gotta win as well because Ely was under the old guy. McNair seat is warming up too they gotta start producing as well or else. After it’s said and don’t Hughes will be out this year and maybe Odums depending how bad of a beat down at GU(if they loose). Valley will get a coach fired this year mark my word.
