The One Man Band
That one person volunteered information and went on record.
Why didn't the TSU coach speak to the media directly (local or otherwise)?
Can't definitively answer that one, as I don't know (something I don't mind saying)....BUT!!!!
There IS an OFFICIAL statement posted on the TSU athletic website.
"At Texas Southern University we hold our student-athletes to high standards in regards to sportsmanship and personal conduct," said TSU Director of Athletics Dr. Charles McClelland
"An unfortunate incident occurred during the second half of our women's basketball game with Southern University that undoubtedly does not reflect the core values and principles that we expect our student-athletes to exhibit at all times. Both institutions along with the conference office are in the process of reviewing the incident and gathering additional information."

While it doesn't provide the answers you may think you deserve, it is a statement that was posted nearly 5 hours ago. I actually applaud the approach of NOT commenting in the immediate aftermath and allowing the official process to play out, rather than "trying this in the media", which.....well, I'll just leave that right there.
