Good Job Dr. Broussard

How can a candidate refuse a job that he isn't offered?

It's foolish to use talking points that don't make sense just for the sake of arguing.

* :smh: at the things people say simply for the sake of making an arguing*

This is jayrob you're referring to.

Dang, JayRob's words must hold some influence. We got old men in here commenting on info that's logical and accurate.

So you're saying that Broussard bypassed big named coaches for Big Worm and didn't offer ANY of them a contract they may have refused or turned down?
Personally, I find that hard to believe.
Then the guy turns around and pays Big Worm chump change compared to what other SWAC coaches are making....with only a two-year contract.

As prestigious as the su coaching job is in HBCU terms, I find it hard to believe that all the coaches on Broussard's list turned him down. There had to be something else in the mix for them to do so.

LOL. Yeah I am. It's hard though.

It was hard to call me dumb?:smh:

Seems to me that anytime someone goes against the grain of su folk's thinking, they have to be the one whose wrong. Not this time.
When Broussard produces consistent results, he'll get the credit he deserves. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I said you were not being smart at times. No one called you dumb. You post some stuff that makes no sense what so ever and you run with it after people show you differently. Like I said, I can't wait until JSU's job is open and see how your experienced AD handles it. While you questioning how Broussard did his search. You didn't even notice many of the same names applied for the FAMU job. So that should tell you that we all get the same applicants who show interest. Ain't no FBS big name assistant coming to our schools anyway. So Broussard did what he had too. Just like your AD will as well. The hottest names in the HBCU world stayed put. BCU's Jenkins who was trying to get US to wait until he saw if he would get a better FBS level gig for more money and the Winston Salem coach who I guess is happy being D2 since he didn't pursue any job in HBCU land. Maybe he is waiting for a PWC to come calling. For whatever reason the committee and not Broussard didn't like Spady as well as they liked Big Worm. So it is what it is. You were not in the interview sessions to see how a coach did. Just like Jenkins was a NO NAME before going to BCU. Big Worm will have to prove himself on the field. He is already doing well off it. Just tell Fat Rick to figure out if he can beat Worm or not.

JayROB makes valid points but since it's him saying it, people basically ignore what he is saying

I can't wait until you become an AD if you ever take the plunge to leave PV one day. You co-signing Jayrob is just as bad as TP doing it as well. You are so PV biased and what folks in Texas do or don't do that you don't have any objectivity either. Not like you want to hear the truth on how bad of a hire PV made for their head coach. Can't wait to Worm kick yall to sleep this fall. Going to be soooo sweet.

Point taken. Since he seems to know who refused and who didn't, was S.O.G. in the room?:noidea:

He actually thinks all those coaches turned Broussard down. LOL. Po Jay rob. I guess he will get it right one day.

I didn't say ALL turned him down. I'm sure Broussard turned down most of them, however it's hard for me to believe out of ALL the candidates for su's most prestigious job in sports, Big Worm was the best candidate.

I’m going to stay on the high road with this, because I have to agree with a few comments that seem bizarre and illogical. Unlike one school’s AD, our AD does not deserve all the accolades that he is currently receiving. Until he has demonstrated that he can LICK all the required job tasks, right now he is just drooling with his tongue out.

SOG's brother Kenn posted all the candidates. He got all the information directly from Broussard as he requested. Broussard has been interviewed and explained the process and how him and the search committee decided on Big Worm. We were not going to wait on Jenkins to play us against another offer that fell through for him so he had to stay at BCU and I bet he still don't make as much as Big Worm got and we probably would have given Jenkins more money. But it is what it is. Big Worm has been impressive and I think folks outside of La and BR underestimated the backing he had from the local power alums who all wanted him. So folks saying we settled is not accurate. We could have waited on Jenkins and still hired Worm. But folks were impressed enough not to do that. We turned down Spady and Jones was too busy with Notre Dame and preparing for the BCS title game and Chip Kelly was not trying to let him leave during that time for whatever reason.

My overall concern with all of our hires is that the FBS level schools have decided to pay position coaches even more than we pay head coaches. A lot more if they are BCS FBS level schools. So we all are going to have to roll the dice and hire coaches with not a lot of big cred. If you look at the FCS world, there are not a lot of black assistants who are coordinators even on our level. So unless you give a white coach a shot like Alcorn did, you will probably have to either pluck another HBCU coach from MEAC or SWAC or go hire a Head Coach with D2 experience. You then run the risk they are not up to speed on APR issues and stuff because they don't deal with it on the D2 Level. Right now the big name from the D2 level is Maynor from WS State. He is getting 160 plus thousand at that level. So you know what he is going to want to move up. I look for him to get a MEAC job when another one opens up that he is interested in. After that, I want you to name me some super experienced assistant of head coach any of our schools can get right now. All the brothers done ran off to FBS world and they ain't coming back that are worth a damn. The rest of these FCS big name schools like ND State, App State etc don't hardly have any black assistants or any at all. So you will have to do like BCU did with Jenkins. Take a flyer on a coach who had only been a position coach all his career and hope he can work out for you. When I saw the FAMU list of candidates who applied. I was like it was the same folks minus Jenkins and a few others. Hell Comegy probably was the only super experienced head coach to apply for that job. That just shows you them brothers at some of the bigger programs ain't interested unless they are a low level position coach. Even that is a stretch. So I would refrain on criticizing any AD that had the balls like Broussard to make a move and not get caught up chasing folks with no better resumes than Worm.

I didn't say ALL turned him down. I'm sure Broussard turned down most of them, however it's hard for me to believe out of ALL the candidates for su's most prestigious job in sports, Big Worm was the best candidate.

He was the best candidate as far as the committee and the AD was concerned. They did their evaluation and that is what they were convinced by. I am sure Jenkins wasn't the best or biggest name candidate ON PAPER that BCU had when they fired Shine. But it has worked out for them. Big Worm had an impressive presentation of what he wanted to do and where he wanted to take the program. Folks backed Big Worm and hence he is the head coach. Now he has to win on the field after gaining the confidence of not only the folks who hired him but a lot of the high profile SU alums who actually give money are on board with him.

I know what went down with Jenkins and what exactly happened...got it from the horses mouth...I'll never say it on a message board..you do better finding where I live :emlaugh:

I'm not biased but I know alot what goes on because people talk and you can;t put everything on the message board JR...this is for "entertainment"......I've thrown facts out and people still want to dispute it so why waste time...

JayRob is dead on but yall refuse to acknowledge it
