Gays on HBCU campuses.

Back in the day at TN State, they were not harassed. In fact, homosexuality was ?somewhat? new on HBCU campuses, well at least IMO at TSU. There was one gay dude that everyone liked. If you need an exam for a particular class, you call him and he could get the exam. He ran for Ms. TSU and received more votes than all the females combined. During one homecoming, he and his partners we all dressed in Civil War type dresses. Have to say this, several years ago there was a fight between some men from TSU and some for Fisk. The ?men? from Fisk said that the one from TSU was on their campus taking their females. Get this; several of the females at Fisk said they needed men not women to date. In addition, that 90% of the men on Fisk campus was gay.

The openly gays were mostly in Job Corps during my time at Skegee. I don't recall anyone that was gay and that popular, but i'm sure there were some.

Well,,, not suprising since Atlanta is supposedly the capital of the new south and the most forward think, most open-minded and politically correct metro of the south, a veritable "San Fransisco" of the South on the edge of the mountains instead of the ocean. I guess Atlanta took their motto, "the city too busy to hate" to the Nth degree, intra-gender!! :lmao:

Hm.

I just graduated in May, but I would say that the beginning of the 2001-2002 school year, I saw many more of the females coming out. The agressives (females who dress like dudes and like lipstick lesbians) were more visible. Now this year, I've heard they stay on the same hall in one of the dorms...They weren't assigned that way, that was their choice of preference...So....it's only gonna become more and more open.

;) LOL! Only if you ATLians cease running the classic, "what are the three Rs in Alabama? Reading, Riting and the Road to Atlanta" blasts! :p

I don't think they are totally excepted but people know that they are there and the the numbers are getting larger as we speak. at this day and time it shouldn't matter whose gay or straight its just a matter of respect for your self and others.....

Bartram i have to disagree with you on that... in ATL gays are accepted in a large manner, just go there and u will see for your self.......

 I'm saying gays in atlanta are VERY accepted. that's why I referred to it as the "san fransisco" of the south. i talk in riddles and use hyperbole and analogy a lot so it's understandable that sometimes people get flip-flopped and spun around on exactly what the point was I was attempting to make. :D

When I attended AAMU, it was come "questionable" guys that used to do Aaliyahs and Ursher's dance routine with some females on the Block and I dont think anyone messed with them.

Also it was a certain Fraternal group on the yard that had about 3 or 4 Gay guys in them. Not talking smacking about any of the Greek orgs at AAMU, but this one group was notorious for having them.

When I used to road trip up to TnSU for the football games or help my best friend move in or out of the dorm, the Male Cheerleaders used to have their boyfriends with them all the time. Them cats were not all skinny and limp-wristed. They were some swole cats benching like 275 or something, but you could tell they were a little feminine. My folx at STate told me that one of the Male Cheerleaders (their captain I think) used to take cats Manhood up there.
_ _ _ :(

back to the point.
I didnt see alot of openly gay/lesbian activities at AAMU from 96-2000.

its like this, when i first came to UAPB who could count the gay dudes on both hands and have fingers left over, but the next year came it was like a bus dropped off a load of them and now they are everywhere!!! but they don't get bothered that much, but we did have a problem at the begining of the year when some gay dudes where in the football dorm claiming they were looking for some w**d and one had on some tight azz kapreez(spelling) and they got there azzes molly whopped, but one gay dude was throwing like a ***** 4 real and then about 15 football players joined and then it was time for the gay dude to ball out, but that is it......... and like dude said some gay dudes u can't tell they mess around watch out them some sneaking suckers!!!!

Atlanta, whom ever said that need to kill all of that. Actually, D.C. and N.Y. as well as Miami rate much higher than the ATL. And this goes for any real city, you are going to have a comstock load of everything. This is the 20th century, everyone just need to wake up and move on yo. Let them folks do what they do b/c in the end they have to give an account for their own actions. That's how I feel about it.

At JSU people may look at them, but I haven't heard any taunting or otherwise demeaning behavior.

That was the point I was making. From a scientific point of view though, I would consider homosexual promiscuity natural but not found often. Ever heard of cows called "free-martins"? It happens. I included mores because, yes, of course they are significant and central to the subject and because I'm also not a Bible "thumper". However, not all mres or morals we have are necessarily universal (to me). Why? We wouldn't have democracy....hence the lie that Plato gets to in his republic about which government is better. There is no social contract. There are those who are privileged, those who have not, those who have and those who are shrewd. In my honest opinion, those who are homosexual are no worse sinners than those who murder.

You rais an interesting point with "free-martins". Fascinating concept. The thing with free-martins, though, is did this develop before or after humans started breeding cattle for various purposes and mixing things up? Put another way, I wonder (honestly, i'm asking) are there free-martin equivalents in worms, beatles, birds, coyote, fish, bears, bobcats, etc? Even so, I would guess that if you average things out the overwhelming majority of animals and insects are "heterosexual" as it were.

Now male/female dogs will hunch on your leg and thus could hunch on another male/female(although I've never seen a female hunch a female) dog, but I can't say as I've seen male (or female) dogs (or other animals) do that as a way of life, however how do I know what's going on in their mind one could argue. I think there is a "natural law" (unwritten) when it comes to things like this. Of coarse being humans and having evolved to the point where we have such advanced mental capacities we can rationalize any behavior and place "moral weights" on things for better or worse, but averaging things out in the natural world where the natural inclination seems to be overwhelmingly "heterosexual", one could surmise "homosexuality" is rare at best. When it comes to degrees of sin (if we agree that homosexuality is a sin) I can't really say. That whole concept is, again, another manifestation of the human ability to think and rationalize. I just can't see God sitting up ranking "sin", I dunno. We'd have to get some of the bible hacks to address that.

Dang, Gayness is the biggest subject of matter now days.. This is why people just need jesus .. you can't Question God......
