But, I disagree that Prairie View A & M University with an enrollment of 8,080 and the 2nd oldest institution of higher education in the state of Texas is a small school with little to no recognition beyond those who follow the SWAC

Jafus, I stand corrected. I was not aware of PV?s enrollment. Thanks for the education.
 
I question that enrollment number for PV. I have seen the top ten list of HBCU's over the years and for some reason I don't remember seeing PV that high on the charts.

At homecoming they announced our fall enrollment was 9,011. The highest in our schools history.

Off the top of my brain. HBCU?s with the most students are:

1. Southern (if you include all campuses)
2. FAMU
3. Howard
4. Tennessee State
5. A&T
6. PV
 
According to their website they have appx. 6,700 students. Which includes 1300 graduates students. So we're talking about 5500 undergrads.
 
They have never counted Southern University as one enrollment. Southern has a three campuses with different school colors etc.etc.....

I think Norfolk State is high on that list.

Shaking My Head!! Why?? Call Prairie View A & M University information and admissions. I do not have any reason to lie. Probably the last time you you looked when I was in college we were at 4,500 - 1994 and shorter after we were at 5,900 - 1996, 6,700 -2000. We had a president that was interested in growing the enrollment of the institution to 10,000 by 2010.

In addition the legislation that denoucned the so-called quota system for the larger public institution like the University of Texas and Texas A & M University was also influencial in the rapid enrollment increase along with growing population those interested in increasing the hispanic population of the school with programs that support the Houston Community College transfer policy. It is my understanding that it went from less than a 1/2 percent when I was in school to about 5%, current. I think the will try to get it closer to about 10% by 2010.

The HCC is about 90% Hispanic. Again, I do not have any reason to lie. I just provide information and facts more than those that chose to assume and remember numbers they have scene/read some three, four or five years ago.
 
According to TSU's website you have....

About 8,750 students (undergraduate and graduate), representing 35 states and 55 countries every year. Student / Faculty ratio 17 to 1.

NSU used to have about 8000 or so.......I'll still looking for my chart.
 
Well,...this is the sports zone and like the athletes in the game day program, we sometimes boost or exagerrate for appeal.

Charles Barkley was listed at 6'6" in all of the programs, but he was actually about 6'4".

Again, PV's website states 6,700...............TSU's the aforementioned. I believe the larger HBCU's are in the MEAC.
