I think Doug did a good job of not "Dogging" his school out with his explanation. He could have seriously trashed the facilities and administration. In the articles I didn't see where he said how bad the facilities were, just they needed maintaince and upgrading. He didn't say his kids didn't have a place to workout, just wanted what the other schools have. Nowhere did I see him question the academic support given his kids or say the dorms weren't livable. He just said they didn't respond to his request in an approprate amount of time.
Did he bamboozle the kids that just signed? No more then the kids that signed four or five years ago that thought he would be there until they left. Don't all coaches say they want to see you graduate? Do all of them stay? Sometimes they leave because of job opportunities, sometimes because the administration or alumni want them gone. Does anyone ask, "what about the kids", when they want the coach fired? This is apart of recruiting that the players need to learn about before signing. The guys that sign you might not be the ones that coach you.
That why its important that we teach these kids, you're looking for an education that will stay with you for life, not a coach. A good coach makes that decision easier, but football is a means to a end, not the end.
