Fellas, whats a reasonable amount to spend on an engagement ring

I'm not the type to take my Pastor's words as law. However, one thing that my Pastor says that I definitely agree with is that you aren't truly engaged without a ring and a set date.

I can't speak for all couples, but from what I have seen the only time proposing without a ring really works is in undergrad.

but the ring is kool I'll bend on that,
but what if I see or get the ring for 39.99
how much does or do u think your pastor would say that the 39.99 will play into the situaton lol

That's dumb. Like I said in my first post: Spend what you can without going into debt.

And you can get a good ring for $2500. Hell, if you know where to go, you can get a good one with good carat and clarity/color for $1000- 1500.

Bah.

It depends on what you consider good. You said to consider cut, carat, clarity and color. Well, the closer you get to flawless the more they cost.

With that said, I would never buy another ring the way I did. My sister is a jeweler now and I know how to get them for much less.

Honey, I know that.
But Pop is young. And spending $1000-2500 on a ring is good for him at this stage in his life.

Crit, I might need to holla atcha in 10 months if this gul don't act crazy. She light skinned with long hair, I got to wait till the end of this 5 year waiting period. Right now, I can't afford a 16k wedding. However, your boy is trying to land a new gig soon and my pockets may get a little deeper.

I agree with your pastor. I think we set the date like a week after the proposal.

Crit,
10 years from now. It will be hard to convince me to pay 8k for a ring. I may be willing to dish out about 5k by then.

Holla at me! Oh and I got your email on that music file. Thanks, Sweetie. Kept forgetting.

And I can help you get a get a good ring. When you think you're ready, no harm in taking your girl ring shopping and just making it clear that ya'll are JUST looking. That way, you'll know what she likes, if she hasn't told you already.

And there are ways to spend wisely for a wedding.

Hope you land that new gig! More money is always nice.

You aight with me!

Think about those four Cs and what you think your girl will care more about: carat or brillance? Or both! 'Cause some women may care more about a BEAUTIFUL near colorless diamond that may be a lesser carat versus a huge rock that has more flaws. Do your homework! :) I've seen some really impressive smaller diamonds, and then I've seen some big diamonds that looked cloudy (not good).

Pop is just fooling yall. He's going to spend 2k for every year he's been with his girl. :lmao:

If he's been with her three years, that's 6K right there.

If you're the marrying type and know that's what you want to do, then 6-8K is really not a whole lot of money.

Save your pennies, boys.

4, going on 5 and a 8-10k ring is wayyy out of the picture. I got student loans payments coming up at the end of this year.

They all fronting Boo. When that woman puts that smack down on them, them cats gone spend all they lil pay check. Then come back to TSPN bragging.

Zero. With the high divorce rate, she shouldn't get a ring until the fifth year of marriage. Folks go broke for a wedding and ring, then going separte ways a year or two later.

I actually agree...:retard:

I guess if I have a problem with a Rookie QB being paid more than a seasoned vet BEFORE he even takes his first snap...I have a problem with earning a nice diamond if you ain't proved you earned it. Let me make sure you ain't gon' turn on a brotha after you jump the broom. That's where the real credits are earned. Anyone can be good, and then act a plum when they get what they want...

I'm not sure what my pastor will say, but I will personally call you a cheap bastard if you buy your woman a $39.99 ring.

You can only do what you can do, but what you choose to put on your woman's finger says a lot of about both how you feel about her and who you are as a man. This isn't high school, man. You can't go the KMart or Hollywood Jewelers route and expect your lady to have confidence in you as the provider and the man of the house. I don't know your financial situation, but I would guarantee that you have spent way more than $39.99 for things for yourself.

Say that, Lance!

Seriously? A ring says all that?

Not paying bills, taking care of home and family, but a ring? Really? A ring? Not a house. We're talking about a ring? Not treating her right and being faithful, but a ring? The value of the ring tells you how a man feels about a woman?

I can tell you one thing. I will be paying for a ring outright. I will not be financing that purchase, whenever I do decide to buy it.

Whoever decided to commercialize weddings needs to be beat.

You have to look at it from another angle.

Let's say you have a daughter who brings her man home for the holidays or some other visit. She says that he has popped the question and they are ready to get married. She holds out her hand and her ring is some cubic zirconia crap from Wal-Mart. As a father, how much confidence will you have that the man in question will be a solid husband and provider for your daughter?

Here's another one: Let's say that as a man you already have the house, nice ride, decent job, and all of that. You don't skimp on things for yourself and none of your clothing or "toys" are cheap by any means. However, once it is time to "put a ring on it", you opt to skip Zales, Kay, or Helzberg and try to find the cheapest ring possible. Seeing that you don't skimp on yourself and can presumably afford better, what message do you think that sends to the lady in question?

Man,
My dad actually had the house that my parents live in now for his first wife. He said that there was a lot of sex going on in that house but unfortunately he was only involved in 25% of it. After the divorce, she took dayum near everything. When my mother met my dad, she said he only had a TV on a milk carton and a couch.

Man you adding scenarios but honestly with the daughter thing... I'd judge that young man based on much more than that Wal-mart ring. I know a lot of assholes who've spent a grip on rings.

Funny, I find that other races don't blow money on material things like we do. Most of these other races I see have on just wedding bands, instead of 4K rings. We are the only materialistic folks.
