FAMU got screwed out of a playoff spot. An 8-4 Maine team gets in at-large and another 9-3 team out of the Colonial Athletic Association. That's BS
How you gonna have a 16-team field and 5 members of the same league in the field. That's just over 25 percent of the whole field belonging to one league. Even the men's basketball tournament selection committee says that's some BS.

Because the playoffs are made for the PWC's to keep quite. This is how the big boys shut up their little cousins from complaining. They know we don't care, so this is how they keep pimping them. The MEAC just don't get it.

I have been saying this for years, usually its worst cause the A-10 wasn't as strong this year so they missed out on Delaware's normal 7-5 record and Furman with it 7-4 record every year. Plus GASOU fell apart and Coastal Carolina slipped to. I saw a 9-2 SCSU team miss back to back to back wiith an identical record as runnerups to Hampton. They call it strenght of schedule, after 3 losses you are an average team imho and I don't care what conference you come from.

Sho you right. If they did the Heritage Bowl would be big, as big as MCC, BC, or FC. But they would rather play for a plastic azz trophy saying you participated in the playoffs and don't have as much chance of winning as a snowball staying frozen in hell.

I have stated before that I also think its a shame that the SWAC chooses to isolate itself from the rest of the FCS world and live in its own world. I for one think that the solution is for JSU, PV and I hope one day Alcorn to just choose to tell the conference that they no longer wish to compete for the SWAC championship and set their schedules up as if they were an independent. They could then play more OOC power games and maybe still a classic or two, then continue to participate in the conference for all other sports, just not football. And Grambling Southern and Alabama State could continue lead the other conference menbers like blind sheep, to play for their small time championship.
Not gonna happen. You'd have to either leave the conference or accept football as it has been approved by the Presidents.

Especially since the open date at season end would be beneficial to allowing teams to heal, re-energize and regroup. Also, the attendance for games should increase since students would be back from Thanksgiving break. In the past,the argument was made that pushing the start date back put the FCS champ. game in conflict with the FBS bowl season. Now that ESPN has gotten the FCS Playoff Committee to have an open week between the semi's and final game in order to put the Champ game INTO the Bowl season as part of their television package, that argument loses it's validity.
I have a counterproposal... Eliminate the SCG and free up those teams that are available to play and who might possibly get an NCAA bid. Whichever team, regardless of Division, had the best overall conference record would be the league champ. If the teams have identical records and didn't play (7 game mandate), use tiebreakers (established prior to season) to determine the winner.
As for GSU, SU, and Bama State... allow us to have 12 game seasons (I believe the NCAA doesn't allow this for 1AA's except in designated years). Since we will not be participating in the playoffs (those 3 teams), the "excessive games" consideration doesn't apply to our programs.

I would just be happy when we can get it together as a conference... I would love to see our guys take part in the playoffs but what i don't want to see is our teams getting their heads beat in... So we need to do some rethinking and re tooling and then make that jump it will make it better for all i do believe

Our schools can be in the playoffs and it only requires one simple thing. Kick butt in ooc. If the swac as a whole, went out and dominated the teams that reside in the FCS top 25 and weren't in the playoffs, everyone would consider the playoffs to be a joke. After all, that would be like ole miss vs. tx tech for the national championship. we all know those aren't the 2 best teams in the country. they'd have to deal with us to provide the playoffs with any sense of legitimacy. Right now, since we can't punch our way out of a wet paper bag, they roll on without us and no one gives it a second thought.

Exactly. I said this a while back. Schedule the App St's, McNeese's and the Delaware's, beat them and then they will come to us. We already hold the attendance advantage.
