Alabama A&M (6-2) at Jackson State (4-4), 2:30 - While Grambling is busy making a mockery of the SWAC Western division race, three teams continue to fight for the right to knock off the G-Men for the league title in Birmingham on Dec. 14th. Foremost among that group is Alabama A&M, which under first-year head coach Anthony Jones has erased the remnants of last year?s 4-7 record by bolting out to a 4-0 mark in league play. Two weeks ago, the Bulldogs disposed of rival Alabama State (23-20), effectively eliminating last year?s Eastern champ from contention. A&M had just 209 yards of total offense, but capitalized on six ASU turnovers to come away with the win. Now it?s off to Jackson State for Jones and company, with the Tigers (2-2 in league play) looking to keep themselves in the hunt for the division crown along with A&M and Alcorn State. JSU has not suffered from a lack of offensive productivity, as Robert Hughes? charges average 29.9 points per game behind the right arm of quarterback and "Payton Watch" member Robert Kent (2553 yards, 20 TD). Kent will have to continue his proficiency against an Alabama A&M defense that leads the SWAC in total defense (274.1 yards per game). Despite Kent?s presence, the Bulldogs? less-than-stellar offense, and the fact that A&M has never defeated Jackson State since joining the league in 1999, I?m going to hop on the Bulldog bandwagon and predict a win for Jones? crew. The Tigers have not beaten a team with a winning record this year, and I see no reason to expect that trend to be reversed this week. Alabama A&M by a touchdown....

AAMU, along with GSU, will eventually bring respect to this league. People outside the league have no hesitation about jumping on the bandwagon. This guy sees good things for AAMU down the road.
