Thats just one of MANY chickens that have come home to roost in the past few years for JSU.TRU3000 said:it was a comment made awhile back that JSU doesnt have rely on JUCO's! what happened to that swagger?....:

thanks rob for at least having the good sense to post that Ross is talented. I mean, the brotha had over 50 catches as a freshman, but now that he's left JSU, some of the people here will have you believe that he wasn't worth a crap.
MightyDog said:83, no matter how you and the entire JSU and NSM Mafia take up for your coach, you selected a person who had no experience in BCF. He is trying to implement rules and regulations that will not work. We went throught this with Coop and other coaches therefore if Mike or any member from the Dawgpound post something just move your head up and down, because we have more expertise in this area that any SWAC Member.
jstate83 said:I see what you are saying, but my veil been up. I said the middle of last season that ain't no need of byotchin' about Bell now. We stuck until his contract is up.
But at least he is recruiting the right players for the type of team he say he want's to bring JSU. I don't have NO PROBLEM with a running team. Won a bunch of championships in the '80's WITH teams that RAN FIRST, PASSED SECOND. :nod2:
If Bell can acheive this ......... can't tell ya. Last year's personel and offense change didn't leave people with anything to judge on. This year will tell. :swink:
mighty hornet said:My God TP,
I can't believe how you selectively posted parts of that article to give such a wrong impression, like Coe going to switching to some 2 yards and a cloud of dust offense, like Bell. That article clearly states that MOST of ASU's offense will be the same, with just a change in terminology.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAA
nice try, but it failed. MISERABLY!!!
Tigerpride said:Coe made the decision to learn Cole's system and not force the players to start from scratch so close to the beginning of the season.
Now that there's time, Coe wants the players to learn his way of doing things.

MikeBigg said:I agree with your comments that the kid was wrong to play half-ass football. That wasn't fair to his teammates, the fans, and the legacy of Jackson State University football. All of which speaks adds to my respect for Robert Kent. The class manner in which he handled this is indicative of the calibre player and person that Kent will be on the next level
:lmao: The rain gave jackson a false sense of security. :lmao:Tigerpride said:In just one year, Bell had Gram on the ropes with Hughes recruited talent..
HBCUs said:The sad thing is Ross wasn't the only one to do this.... just one of the most important ones because of his obvious talent.
And as far as Kent was concerned, he was indeed a class act. Contrary to popular belief, Kent believed in the system and believed that the brand of football we were trying to play was in the best interest of the program. In fact, it was Kent who took it upon himself to personally speak to Mason on Bell's behalf at season's end. (Yes, the same Kent who people assumed was soooo miserable under Bell.) Why? Because he knew the team was loaded with Torrey Ross', and he knew that Bell was never given much a of fair shake last season. Fans and players alike went into the season with all kinds of negativity, and it inevitably ruined us. (Umm Mike, why didn't your source tell you to mention that fact back in December???)
Truth be known, Kent gained more from a developmental standpoint from playing in run-based sets this past season than he did in the previous two, despite less impressive numbers. This was the first year he actually improved his mechanics and game management since his freshman year. Don't ask me; ask the scouts.
Kent understood all of this. Somehow all the armchair QBs didn't.![]()
Any coach worth his salt (thanks HBCUs) would evaluate the talent that is already in place and go with a system that is most conducive to that talent. That is just plain common sense. Forcing his own way is stupid and the 2-10 results speak for itself. Not to mention, you have talented players giving half arse efforts because they realize it is stupid too.Tigerpride said:That's only because Coe believes in the same type of offense, what if he didn't. The point is that I kept telling everyone that Coe would have installed his OWN system if he had time. Any coach would have done that. Now, he has time and he is implementing HIS system.
mighty hornet said:, just because he insists on installing "his" system.
but I digress
Hope Mr. Ross lands on his feet

PV-PRIDE said:Help me out here...............I'm trying to think of an HBCU quarterback making it in the league coming from a run-based set offense.........From what I have read in the past, scouts think an HBCU quarterback has to put up twice as many passing yards as his Division I counterpart to even get noticed.
mighty hornet said:It's just kinda sad that none of you will call Bell on that. Yall make every excuse in the book (Hughes fault, the players fault), but for whatever reason, Bell just gets a free pass.
