Early Reports, Nash MVP

I'm just saying...whose criteria is right or wrong? When people use the excuse about Nash not having Stoudamire, it is cool, but it is not relevant when it is used for Kobe or LeBron.

Hey j4l, I'm not saying Kobe didn't have an MVP type season, because he did, but when you look at what the Suns lost, and still put together the type of season they had, really, with a bunch of scrubs, I can't argue against Steve Nash winning it, that's all.

LeBron, Kobe, Chauncey Billups, Dirk Nowitski, Elton Brand, D. Wade, and Tony Parker, could all have cases made for them, but IMO at the end of the day, the more Valuable player won.

To be honest, had the Lakers won 50 games (which seems to be the benchmark for players winning the award), or made some huge turnaround, then I would be right here screaming with the rest of the Kobe gang, that he got robbed, but the truth of the matter is only one player in the last 30 years has won the award who's team didn't win 50+ games, and that was Moses Malone, who lead the league in not only scoring, but rebounding as well. Not saying it's right, but that's been the trend.

If winning the MVP was solely based on getting a sorry team to the playoffs, and leading the league in scoring, Allen Iverson would have more than the 1 MVP award he has, and Michael Jordan would've won more than the 5 he won.

They DID have a big turnaround...even though they didn't win 50. But then...LeBron won 50 and didn't get it.

J4L. I think we are all in agreement that LeBron could have won as well. As a matter of fact I think LeBron was the MVP. I have told DNice that as well. I just don't have an issue with Nash winning is all. He had a good case for MVP. The NBA as DNice has explained has pretty much held to form when choosing the MVPs. This was one of those years that people were probably going to be split on who they think should be MVP. You have the LeBron contingent which I agree with, then the Kobe folks, Nash obviously and then you probably have good arguments for Chauncey Billups, Dirk N, D.Wade and maybe even Tony Parker and ole Vince Carter who had a great year in NJ. Just one of those years. Heck I am still mad that Karl Malone won over MJ that one year. LOL. But Utah had the best record that year so K. Malone got it.
