Now I know you are being sarcastic. LOL. That 100K education is nothing compared to how he helps bring in millions. I wonder how many number 2 jerseys have been sold since he arrived in Columbus. I still say these kids should get paid a stipend. I got one in NROTC when I was at SU and some college bands do it. Hell all the Midshipmen at the Naval Academy get a 800-900 dollars a month stipend and all their education is free. And they get free medical, dental, eye......etc... which includes their athletes who are under NCAA rule.
 
Some of ya'll scare the HELL out of me. No damn morals or ethics. I'm not trying to ride on a high horse or anything, but don't we teach our kids to be HONEST, FAIR, and PLAY BY THE RULES???? So basically ya'll saying get over on folks and as long as everybody else cheating the system, I may as well too?? Yeah how that work out for all those folks lying and making false insurance claims in connection with Hurricane Katrina for example. I don't care what ya'll say, WHAT'S DONE IN THE DARK COMES TO LIGHT. Keep on cheating the system, but don't get mad when you get caught.

Do you also wonder how many number 3, number 76, number 18 jerseys have also been sold? A team consists of way more than just Pryor and other big name players.

My comments are not just for Pryor. But for all of those guys who generate revenue for their schools. We work for a living. I work for a 25 billion dollar corporate monster, but I do get a paycheck. I just think these athletes need a stipend. But until then they should follow the current rules. Whether they are fair or not. I not advocating them breaking the rules. But I do understand the situations some of these kids are in and they see all the money made off of them. Hard for them to equate that with the free education thing when you are 18-21 and impressionable. Most of these kids have parents who have not taught them any better either which is another subject. Some of them are the problem.

It's been widely known for years that full athletic scholarships don't cover the true cost of attending college. That leaves athletes with additional expenses and no time to get full-time jobs, as other students can do.

The NCAA grant-in-aid formula leaves the annual scholarship shortfall between $200 and $10,962 per athlete depending on the school, according to a 2009 study by Ithaca College and the National College Players Association.

For instance, the 2009 study revealed a full scholarship athlete at Arkansas-Little Rock is expected to pay almost $55,000 out of pocket over five years. Oh, and it's even more for students who get partial scholarships.

Additionally, when you take in account practice, training, travel and games, basketball players spend more than 30 hours a week involved in the sport. That is nearly equivalent to a full-time job.

Athletic scholarships currently cover tuition, fees, room, board and books. Not covered are transportation, clothing, laundry, entertainment and incidentals.

You seem to not realize that the NCAA has tied the hands of these players who have visions of going to the NFL. They've put rules in place where high school players can't go to the NFL. Why? So these players are forced to have to go through the NCAA's route to the NFL. The system is automatically rigged.

Like a lot of these compliance officers are doing, players need to learn how to bypass a corrupt system.

Neither Pryor or anyone else who accepted money is going to jail. Tressell is sitting somewhere at home with millions of dollars in the bank, but what's Terrelle have to show for? The only problem I have with Pryor is that he goofed and got caught by the crooks with his hand in the cookie jar, but I sure don't blame him for trying to get what's his. The school is surely getting their millions and millions.

This is why folks in the Mississippi Delta are STILL in the piss poor condition they're in, with that kind of so-called moral attitude. Sometimes you have to buck the system to bring it down. Just ask MLK, Malcolm and Medgar.
Folks are letting the NCAA system play them like modern day slaves.

Morality is following local, state and federal laws, not some corrupt NCAA bulls--t statutes concocted by crooked lawyers paid by the NCAA.

And stealing FEMA funds and cheating on insurance claims are state and federal crimes, so let's not compare apples to oranges.

He aint eligible to play either. Because in order to do that, he "or anyone else" has to play by the rules. You're happy when they don't play by the rules. So, I guess you're happy when they get suspended and are ineligible to play. Again, what does that solve?

What's stopping him from getting an education elsewhere in the future? What's stopping him from going to the NFL? The big loser is the school whose trying to put most of the blame on him and the bigger crook is the NCAA for such rules in the first place.

Now if Kendrick's or Oracles articles are accurate, where was he supposed to get 30,000 dollars for supplemental and medical expenses? Whose going to help the athletes pay for those expenses?

More power to him. It WAS his. It's amazing that it's deemed a crime if you sell your OWN stuff for a few dollars to buy miscellaneous items. Only in the NCAA folks, only in the NCAA.

I wonder what would happen if a band member sold a shirt that belonged to him. He's on scholarship, but would he would get penalized?

There are so many fundamentally flawed things with the crap that you just posted. I was born in and still live in the Mississippi Delta. I have bought my own car and house and know plenty of other folks that have done the same with their "so-called" moral attitude in the Mississippi Delta. It's amazing to me how some of you people still buy into the EVERYBODY in the Delta is barefoot, broke, and poor.

No, the point was not having to follow a "system" simply because it's in place, especially a corrupt system like the Jim Crow laws were. It was merely the principle I was trying to indicate.
In no way did I indicate that getting money in spite of NCAA rules was anywhere near as important than the Civil Rights era. Didn't think I had to break it down to that level, but I was wrong.

As far as being in the delta, I've been there recently and there are still folks following the same old stagnant "good ole boy" system that's been in that area since the '60's, not everyone, but some.

If you're a twenty something year old in college needing money and you're thousands of miles away from home and you know your parents don't have any money to help you out, what are you going to do?

I'm just being real, but some of you know you're lying :emlaugh:...., but that's your right.:tup:

I'm going to survive, especially if it doesn't warrant breaking local, state and/or federal laws. The NCAA and it's crooks can go to hell.

Who is going to want him if he can't play for them? He was allowed to get away with stuff because he could play a sport now that it is gone (college wise)-why is going to waste time on him? What other perks was he given? How much school work and time in class does he really have? If he could still play college ball-folks would find ways to make sure his work got done with help. Now that he can't-why get him and risk having yet another black boy that can't compete in class and will dropout and make my school look bad?

Why bury Kelvin Sampson, Clem Haskins and Quinn Synder for thier rule breaking yet look the other way when other do worst? Why destroy JSU and SU for not graduating kids yet create loopholes for powerhouse schools that lose half thier roster to the NBA?

Start busting everybody an dyou can stop some of this mess. Because you can't force every school to pay kids to cover meals and wantnot. WHat HBCU would have any kids playing for them if they had to give them a stipend of $300 a month for all sports? HBCUs don't have TCU, SMU or North Texas money to burn, especially with states cutting funding to public colleges.

1. I didn't say play for another school, I meant to get a degree from another institution in his spare time.

2. So the football players are basically being discriminated against. They work 30 how weeks, are on the road a lot, get injured a lot more often than bandmembers and aren't able to work to make extra money.

3. The NCAA can assist in putting aside more funding for those sports that generate revenues. They have the lawyers to work these type of things out if they want to.

4. If you start busting everybody, then they'll be shooting themselves in the foot because the better teams won't be eligible for the major bowl games. There goes your teleivsion ratings and we know ratings and we know television ratings are tied to billion dollar revenue for the NCAA.
