On May 1, 2013, Texas A&M approved a $450 million renovation of Kyle Field. The renovation will raise the official seating capacity to 102,500 people, making it the largest football stadium in Texas and the SEC (surpassing Neyland Stadium by 45 seats) and the fourth largest in the country.

They approved a $450 million renovation for the "House That Johnny Built", but you seem to have left off exactly how long it will take for them to complete the project. I do believe that project will take two years to complete or more than likely two phases to complete, which makes it one of the most expensive collegiate stadium projects EVER. Again I say, I have yet to see any school including the Big 5 to spend $250 million to $280 million on a stadium project all at one time.
Also, you do realize that there's a HUGE difference between Texas A&M and JSU. Unless they have some generous billionaire donor that they are keeping a secret, HBCUs don't have that kind of money to spend on stadiums.

They should. It's called supply and demand. And if the demand stays high with an open air stadium, they should immediately move to the next phase of expanding their stadium.

IMO, attendance in Jackson dropped after the TC and LaFleur debacle when they came up with the bright idea of moving SU home games to Jackson. The year it was done a lot of SU fans decided to boycott the game and the numbers have never been the same. Some folks just can't leave well enough along.

But they are spending that much and more on improvements to their stadium. It is in 2 phases with phase 1 already completed.

Since you want to be technical, all the money is not in one phase.
Even with TAMU's kind of money, I'm sure they are not spending $250 million to $280 million in one construction phase. Therefore, my statement still stands, which is, "I have yet to see any school including the Big 5 to spend $250 million to $280 million on a stadium project all at one time".

But it's still all just 1 project, no matter how it is being done. The only reason they are doing it in phases is so they don't lose a season in their stadium.

They have every cent they need for this project in place. Most of the funding is from fans/alums (80%).

You do mean TAMU right??? I'm pretty sure they do have the money in place, but they are still having the project done in two phases or two construction phases. I'm sure they split the construction cost in both phases right down the middle, Phase 1 - $225 million and Phase 2 - $225 million.

51 percent will be funded by annual seat licenses, 27 percent will be funded by Kyle Field Campaign gifts, 17 percent will be funded by Texas A&M students and 5 percent will be funded by the local government agencies.

I noticed TAMU is not building that many luxury suites or boxes, basically a huge stadium with a lot of seats.

JACKSON, Miss. - Jackson State has been fighting for its own football stadium for years, since it's been calling Veterans Memorial Home for decades.
Now the school has put together an ambitious plan to build a state of the art domed stadium. Supporters say would not only benefit the school, but the entire metro community.
"We're still living the dream of the stadium, we won't let it go that easy because we're looking at it as an economic development tool for not only Jackson State and the students but the surrounding areas," said State Senator Kenny Wayne Jones.
Jackson State commissioned it's own feasibility study on the dome. A local media outlet did a report on the study back in September.
According to the report, it recommended a change from the original plan. That the stadium should be 35,000 seats, not 50,000 and that the estimated cost of construction is somewhere between $250 to $280, not $200 million.
But where will the money come from?
For over a month we reached out to JSU administrators for a comment, but no one is talking.
However, the community definitely has something to say about plans for a domed stadium.
"I do support Jackson State in their efforts to construct the JSU dome simply because it will bring in revenue for the city, JSU Alum Nikita Bounds said. "It will bring in more jobs and hopefully it will encourage more entrepreneurship to actually locate here to Mississippi to bring their businesses here."
"I think JSU needs their own stadium, however I think a dome is a little over kill in my opinion," said Stephen Brandon, another JSU Alum. "Being a JSU alum I definitely understand having our own facility, but I think there are a lot of other things we could use for the college that would be more beneficial to put $200 million into than an enclosed dome."

I know yall are a proud group but it's time JSU give up on this dome stadium and go with an open air stadium on campus. By dragging this out, you are doing nothing but shooting yourselves in the foot.
Each year you don't start construction, the price is going to up several million. More than likely it'll be tens of millions. That's not helping your cause if you want money from the state.
