They've got $250 million to $280 million construction cost and $400k annual operational cost covered. We are too educated to realize that.

They stay worried about what we are doing....but we are the ones that go on their blogs, make threads and talk about them all day lol. Like we said a year or two ago, just because YOU think it won't happen doesn't mean that it won't.

Re: Say What? (Jackson State)

And the City of Jackson is staying quiet with their support. A 35k dome arena would limit the City of Jackson's ability to market that arena for big events. At 35k, it should not be a dome stadium. It should be an open air stadium with plans for future expansion, which in my opinion is the most viable solution for an on-campus stadium.

I agree with you 100% here Jag89. I would put up a stadium similar to USM's stadium and invest in extra parking, indoor practice facility and improved fields, new team facilities for meetings etc and save money on that stadium idea. The idea is to bring the spirit of football to the campus area and this dome idea just ain't cutting it in Mississippi. I didn't want to admit it and I'm still hoping for a miracle but those Sippi legilator's from MSU and Ole Miss will make sure it does not happen without JSU being in a major hole and blocking events from coming in to see this fall.

I can see a stadium like this one packed on JSU's campus.

Cutting the dome for an open air stadium would probably decrease construction cost by $100 million to $150 million and it also opens up opportunities for expansion if attendance demand exceed stadium capacity. I'm sure Tulane already have plans for future expansion for their new stadium if their attendance demand exceed their stadium capacity.

Re: Say What? (Jackson State)

Maybe we should leave

There is no conference you can go to that will pay big money not named the Power 5 conferences. Even the bigger FCS schools are trying to find more revenue. The smaller FBS level schools are scrambling as well.

Re: Say What? (Jackson State)

Engineering, but you have yet to answer who would be the primary owner (state, city, or jSU) of the stadium. It doesn't take a business major or engineer to determine that. All one needs is plain ole common sense, which is something that is lacking in your case.

J89 let it go mane. You obviously have not one iota of knowledge of how business works, standard Acceptable Accounting Practices, or liability Chains. If you have a financial advisor I'd bet he or she loves you.

If you're such a guru in finance, please explain in detail where the $250 million to $280 million construction cost and the $400k annual operational cost will come from? I'm sure you can put something together as simple as that to show. If not, then I'll classify this as more delusional thoughts from a bean counter.

Re: Say What? (Jackson State)

It's from multiple sources with majority from Bonds as the primary! However there are varying mechanism for funding but the lion share will be from it! I hope that helps.... The $440K of funds that was mentioned in the "Study" were for operational shortfalls if those projections held true. Again these are projections as any Smart institution should do their Due Diligence in understanding the potential landscape.

To go a step further for you, when JSU propositioned the legislature for money ($75M) for the stadium it's not because it's required to get it built, it's to reassure the investment community from a rating perspective that it is a safe bet to issue such bonds! It's important to have that to get favorable ratings. Bonds...

I have yet to see any school including the Big 5 to spend $250 million to $280 million on a stadium project all at one time. Most build smaller stadiums and expand from there or expand on what is already existing.

Here's a one-minute video of what it looks like from the club section of the $75 million expansion of LSU's Tiger Stadium South end zone. The addition raises the stadium capacity to 102,321.

I'm not taking shots at all. I'm looking for a solid payment plan instead of a bunch of "what if's". IMO, this project is way over jSU's head to take on by themselves and the City of Jackson's contribution won't be that much of a help.

Dawg, ignorance is easily defeated with knowledge however there's no cure for stupidity! I'm just providing a little knowledge here! Lol

I use this site as comedic relief...

Re: Say What? (Jackson State)

Jag 89 is the dome hater...we should laugh at the troll. JR, we need to create an HBCU power conference. We'd depend on each other. Plenty of HBCUs can fill up a stadium. Imagine a conference with all swac, meac, and tnsu teams/bands.

I'm not a dome hater. I'm just a realist. There is a reason why most of the teams in the Power 5 Conferences are not building dome stadiums, including Ole Miss and MSU.

The requested bonds are $75M. That's not "majority".
