Design shows BJCC dome to hold atleast 70,000

as far as an NFL team... it would be successful in Birmingham... every football team Birmingham has had, has been successful as far as attendance... Birmingham led the World League in attendance and the Birmingham Stallions never had a problem with attendance. Birmingham led the AF2 in attendance also. This is a football state.... as long s they dont have to compete with Bama or Auburn for the same day, I believe every game would be a sellout in ai 70k stadium. You have two colleges 3 hours apart that average around 190K combined.... put a team in Birmingahm attendance wont be a factor.

Maybe...just maybe they could lure that Jacksonville team to Birmingham. They can't get folks to come to their games now....Birmingham may be the place for them.

Florida, under Spurrier, was the main instigator of the move. It's not going to change, now, especially since Alabama has started to dominate again. It is not about distance; it is about an atmosphere in the city that is perceived to favor Alabama because of its long history of playing games there.

So winning 1 SEC title in 10 years is dominating? Alabama is going to lose at least 2 games next season. Their schedule is too tough, and they have to replace their entire defense.

The SEC is not going to leave the major city of Atlanta with all of its attractions to go to Birmingham which will just have a dome. Even though GT is in Atlanta, that city has SEC written all over it. ACC country is in the Carolinas.

I think there are 2 cities everyone is forgetting, San Antonio and Los Angeles. Since San Antonio is a large city, and doesn't have any major colleges in town, an NFL football team could make a killing there. Jacksonville needed to draft Tebow to boost its attendance numbers. I think people know Jacksonville more for the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party and the Gator Bowl than for the Jaguars.

2 games? you serious?

LOL...I understand this is confusing becasue it's named after a university but that is the Arizona Cardinals Stadium. Lincoln Financial Bank is on the Philadelphia Eagles Stadium but the bank doesn't have any sports either...

:lmao: :lmao: Y'all are going to stop playing with my team.

In the eyes of the NFL, it takes alot more than attendance to lure an NFL team. What benefit would adding Birmingham be to the league?

BTW BAMA had TWELVE (12) players selected to ALL SEC team tying a SEC record, but they dont have anyone coming back? LOL I know that you are a Florida fan, but bruh... after Teebow wept and Meyer faked a heart attack, Florida is DONE.

I thought that they only lost Cody, Arenas and someone else.

Nope, they have to replace 9 starters on defense. Don't forget Rolando McClain. Their secondary is still going to be scary, but everything else will be a completely new defense, plus teams are going to eventually find ways to shut down the run game of Alabama, forcing McElroy have to beat them through the air. I think Arkansas is going to beat Alabama in the regular season. Also Bama has to play all the SEC teams coming off of bye weeks. The Tide may win the regular season game against Florida in Tuscaloosa, but I think Florida will beat them in the SEC Championship game.

Going 12-2 isn't going to doom Tuscaloosa!!!! Arkansas is going to beat them in the regular season, and Florida is going to beat Alabama in the SEC Championship game(revenge for the regular season game in Tuscaloosa). People don't know what to expect from Florida because the offense is going to look completely different than it was under Tebow, just like how people didn't know what to expect after Tebow took over for Leak. Brantley is going to end up being the best QB in the SEC by season's end.

you talking as a fan.... Florida win the SEC? Every team NEEDS a bye week to face Bama (a BITCH move) and Bama will still win the SEC. Nobody will be able to stop Bama's running game... you take out Ingram... then you still got Trent Richardson (who just may be as good as Ingram). Julio Jones will be a beast this year. Florida dont even know who their starting qb is going ot be and you talking about championships.

It has been known for 2 years that John Brantley is going to be the starting QB after Tebow. Please remember, you are conversing with a true Florida fan, not none of these band wagon people running around. Teams have shut down Alabama's running game before(Tennessee and LSU).

Play the Legacy Bowl there.

I agree! Plus B'ham would be in the market for the following:

- NCAA Final Fours
- NCAA Basketball Regionals
- A better bowl tie in (guaranteed SEC team) in the Papa John's Bowl
- SEC Basketball Tournament
- SEC Football Championship (once every couple years)
- NFL Exhibition Games (Titans/Falcons)
- NCAA Football Kickoff Classic neutral site games

won't get the final 4....they would have to give away the house to get that as Cowboys Stadium, Houston, San Antonio, Atlanta, etc. are in the running for that....Sweet 16 is realistic but they've host that before or at least a 1st round regional..

SEC Hoops Tourney maybe as SEC doesn't value hoops compared to football....
NFL exhibition, probably so
Some type of SEC FB game also....maybe not AU or UA but someone

but alot of those events aren't happening in the same year so what if you land none? How can you justify it?

Obviously you know nothing about the talent Saben has at Alabama. Donta Hightower is the best linebacker in the conference. Their offense may be the most potent in the country.

I think it started when someone was saying that Alabama is dominate in football, and I asked how are you dominating when you have won 1 SEC title in 10 years.

Not with that quarterback.

Why not a Final Four? I mean Minneapolis has hosted it. You don't have to be a prime travel destination to host it. The biggest thing is B'ham will be in the running with Atlanta and New Orleans for larger conventions and things in the southeast.

True these things specific events not happen every year, but with conventions, MCC, UAB home games and a premier bowl game, and conventions, the dome will have enough to stay booked most weekends of the year.

The fact it's a new facility, that alone will keep events coming the first couple years. Plus there are other opportunities for growth and stealing events from other smaller venues like one of the college football All-Star games. Also, even though it's a smaller city, Birmingham could be a potential host for the Superbowl.
