Hundreds of Alabama A&M University students spilled into Meridian Street near the campus as they celebrated Barack Obama's election as the nation's first black president.
Alabama A&M campus police, state troopers and Huntsville police came in at about 10:45 p.m. to move the crowd out of the street.
Police said they moved the crowd out of the street for safety reasons and no arrests have been made.
OMG... the celebration on campus was sooooooooooo WILD!
thousands of students
fireworks
music
the parade
the atmosphere was ELECTRIC!
campus police had to stop cars from driving into campus b/c it was one big huge block party/trafficjam/parade/fire work show....
I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT!
Tonight was beyond WILD! i'm still pumped up and excited!
I was a witness to one of the most exciting elections in my time. I only wish my mom could've seen it. From all of the struggles she had growing up to all of the racism she experienced as an adult.
