Coach Sanders says all Swac schools should have player names on jerseys

Now THAT is what I want. 5k and it's mines!!!
I've had one for about 4 years now. Definitely eye opening and brings the basics back to the forefront with the original interpretation and definitions of certain words and phrases that have been misconstrued and mistranslated over the years by white scholars.

I know I HAVE to get one now!!

And he knows there won't be any repercussions because THEEions will eat it up and he's the de facto AD and trying to be the de facto commissioner.

How about first he don't wear a Russell Athletics t-shirt on national TV when he cried to get his team with Under Armour
Blue font, Jerry is on Home Economics series/sitcom/show. Do you think he can do some Home Economics in Itta Bena?

If you can play you'll get an NIL - don't fall for the crap

$50 million budget Penn State played with no names on the jerseys this weekend. If you are a star that'll take care of it.
If a Penn St Jersey is sold no name just a # who profits?...

Question ....

Really, how big is the issue of names on the backs of uniforms (which aren't on the backs of our women's athletes — if you want to talk gender equity in college athletics — and other sports) in the grand scheme of athletics at HBCUs? Will putting names on the jerseys be that great missing piece of the puzzle that lifts our athletic departments to new heights?

BTW: The only HBCU athlete to be named Division I player of the year in any sport didn't have his name on the back of his jersey.

All I'm saying is ... y'all made a 5-page thread about a miniscule thing. If Deion was talking about energizing alumni across the board to donate like them PWI folks (and we don't have anything from institutional research that yet hows his presence being a factor in enrollment increases) ... then we're onto something substantial.

Names on the backs of jerseys isn't going to help us against schools that spend more money on football alone than most of our total budgets.

I miss the old days when y'all talked about Skelton not being a real QB. It was beautiful back then.

Man, you people are a different breed. If someone else says something, nothing is said. Coach Prime comes and says it, it's "Why he saying that?!" "He acts like he's the 1st to say that." "He acts like he's our daddy!"

Beans, This is a very valid argument Deion has that I agree with. IMO, way more important. If folks aren't capturing images and properly covering (and that includes NABJ members working in the big companies) ... then it doesn't matter where the name is on the uniform.

Now this is something that I wanted to take up myself (pre-COVID) because of the lack of professional quality photos concerning Valley and other HBCUs.

Goes back to 2016 when Laadi tied the NCAA D1 record for goals in a game and the only photo proof from that game is a cell phone I snapped. Think that's something the SWAC could coordinate at a conference wide level. I'm sure each of our schools got people (usually SIDs or alums that do photography on the side) that take pics for their respective schools but the lack of professional level photos is obvious

It's VERY miniscule in the grand scheme of things and overshadows the bigger problems/discussion that you brought up

If we care about names so much, are we doing this for the other sports as well (men and women) or is this just for football?

Didn’t know Deion influenced y’all to read the word and speak in tongues in sports forums?

this is starting to get awfully Beyhiveish LOL

I started a thread on this very forum, asking for volunteers to pray for our fall 2021 athletic season. Requested volunteers from the list of schools I posted so others could get involved.

Nobody volunteered.

FOOTBALL

The only thing putting a name on a jersey is that is another jersey to sell and probably pay that player in question.

Penn State.

I don't see the point of it unless you are going to do a video game and I can actually HEAR a player's name. That is the main reason I did not bother with college video games-I want to hear a real player's name.

If folks aren't capturing images and properly covering....then it doesn't matter where the name is on the uniform.

Well that is not exclusive to the HBCU-others are dealing with that too. Ask Chicago State University.
You want that attention-you gotta WIN. Something beyond the HBCU title.

And since Deon is talking-I want HIM to call out all these conferences that do NOTHING but paint HBCUs are welfare teams. ESPECIALLY in basketball.
I TIRE of hearing (example) Jackson State plays Ohio State and 95% of the comments about JSU is them playing for checks.
Meanwhile Butler, Grand Canyon, Houston Baptist and others are doing the same and it's they are playing to recruit, build up, see certain arenas and so on. NEVER about a check.
Yet when we look at strength of schedule HBCUS play the TOUGHEST OOC schedules. If you are not top 200 don't call the SWAC.
Yet the only time we don't hear that is when it's certain coaches like Johnny Jones or Mike Davis or Fang Mitchell.
