It's starting early....

Both coaches agree on the statement

The Orange Blossom Classic is not on airing on ESPN because the U.S. Open’s Round of 16 for Tennis in New York is airing on ESPN that day from 11 AM-7 PM.

Several years ago, ESPN purchased media rights away from CBS for $70M per year. Throughout majority of the tourney (8/30-9/12) daytime matches are on ESPN (11a-7p) and Primetime matches are on ESPN2 (7p-11p) except on Sept 4th.

So being on ESPN2 is the best option in this scenario since Tennis takes precedence on ESPN’s main channel during this time period.

You know Prime think that more people want to see him than the US Open.

Funny that you mention that!

According to ShowBuzzDaily, the early rounds of the US OPEN for tennis on Sept 5th,2021 had 907,000 viewers on ESPN.

At the same time, Florida A&M vs JACKSON State only had 707,000 viewers on ESPN 2.

Say what you will, but Prime is doing exactly what he’s supposed to. Keeping our name in the media, in peoples mouth, and at everyone’s finger tips regardless of how you look at it.

It’s ALWAYS a great day to be a Tiger. 🥳
Say bruh, what Maynor complaining about? Is he doing exactly what he suppose to do? Is he keeping A&M name in people's mouths?

What about Dancy or the rest?

Haven’t heard much from any other coaches besides ole Willie backing up Prime. It would behoove them to get acclimated with this new day and age of social media and how it works so that they too can be in the spotlight. A few of these schools need to up their brand ALOT. Til then, it’s all about Jackson State 🥳

If he had a Steve McNair following. He might get a few minutes on ESPN. 😊

No disrespect, But, some P-5 don't even get prime time on ESPN.

But, what is going to happen as Coach Prime leave for a P-5 program?

He will be interviewing for other jobs during the fall.

Another great coach will step in to a nicely built program and continue the domination. With everything we’re building and what’s to come, we won’t have to worry for a mighty long time. 1400 JR Lynch Street is well taken care of buddy. 🥳

I think, they will bring back Coach McCall on the next staff.

Yeah but when you don't have a legit point-folks will tire of you crying and start ignoring you even more.

Other commitments have ESPN airing other stuff. You want those slots cut a bigger check AND win games AND have your fans actually watch the games.

Instead of crying maybe go ESPN and look for a slot that would allow a HBCU game to be played on ESPN instead of ESPN 2. Can that Orange Blossom Classic be moved or try to set the 2023 game at a time where it could air on ESPN?

You’re just proving my point even further. Thanks 🥳

At the moment, it doesn’t look like a football game can be aired in the desired time slot (Sunday afternoon before Labor Day) that both coaches are talking about

ESPN has a $70Million Dollar investment in the US OPEN per year in which they are showing 12 hours of tennis per day (8 on ESPN & 4 on ESPN 2). That deal is in place through 2026.

September 4th is the only day that tennis is not split between ESPN & E2. All 11 hours of tennis are on ESPN 2 only because Of the four P5 games that are ESPN that day.
- NC State vs ECU (11 AM)
- Cincinnati vs Arkansas (2:30 PM)
- Utah Vs Florida (6 PM)
- Boise State vs Oregon State (10:30 PM)

So at the moment, ESPN 2 would be the best options for a nationally televised game on that Sunday.
