Clarion-Ledger halts beat coverage of JSU sports

So sad.....some of those local papers are owned by the giant publishing houses in the north east and they have little or no respect for HBCU football or their student athletes UNTIL they get to the next level. Hang in there JSTATE.

Morales has been doing a great job of providing coverage for JSU football. He's been tweeting, hosting chats during the week and even using Periscope after games to talk about the game with readers.

What we don't know is how many times the CL tried to contact JSU to get the situation rectified before announcing they were pulling coverage.

Here is what the school said.

“We decided to not make assistant coaches and players available to the media for the last two weeks so that the team can adjust to and work with the new coach on putting a quality product on the field.

A FOIA request is normally made to get documents.

Over access, though?

No media outlet is going to sue over that. They'll just do what the Clarion-Ledgersand other newspapers have done when this issue comes up.
 
The SEC beat writers also complain about access, too. However, those newspapers can't pull a stunt like not covering Bama, Georgia or Arkansas because those fan bases and readers would revolt. Plus, a lot of media outlets -- local, state, national and web -- cover those schools. So, there is tremendous competition.
 
The team to focus on what ? I'm starting to wonder about our president ! What are they hiding . Like my grandmother always said what done in the dark shall come to the light !! Dr Myers one big downfall is she hire incompetent staff members . That NCA&T and Norfolk pipeline is fucking Jsu up. I believe something is up between Myers and fuller ! She said fuller has done nothing to be fired for but if anybody else had brought negative attention to the school they would have been fired. Something's not right !!! Also comegy had a closed door policy where he was the only person to speak with media so what's the different ? Why this go round CL wants to drop coverage. Must be a part 2 in this matter. Something's not being told !

You all are making interesting points. Here in Richmond, VA, Virginia Union sports get very little coverage, unless they play Virginia State, or if something bad happens. It was homecoming and nothing was in the paper about the parade and they are having a good year being in first place in the CIAA East. But if VCU has anything, it is in the paper and they make sure everything gets covered.

I would love to know what is going on as well?
