Clarion-Ledger halts beat coverage of JSU sports

Seems like everyone one on this board is an expert in higher ed administration.
Or an expert in higher administration for JSU only. Some on here don't even give this much thought into there own school !!! Thee I Love can cause havoc !! Lol

Some on here are just pointing out a few examples that most our institutions of higher learning have experienced while others on here are being extremely over sensitive to what is being pointed out.

Meyers has been doing some good things but I am not sold on her as a leader of my beloved institution. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck as my guy Stephen A would say, its not a Damn Mongoose...lol.. But the spike in enrollment started with Mason. Just a FYI...

Enrollment spike did not start with Mason. Mason enrollment stayed between 7000-8000 . For years it stayed the same. Shut dat Mason shit up. Mason never pushed the enrollment issue besides joining JSU alcorn and valley together !!

Has JSU taken care of that Clarion-Ledger problem and also have they hired a new softball coach yet?

Dude, you start a WHOLE thread just for this? You could've asked the same question in the open thread on the same subject.

I think the no coverage is a terrible move for JSU. could lead to more problems

We update our website daily, we have our own news and channel in Jackson which updates the lcoal community about JSU sports. We also update JSU Tigers and JSU facebook pages with up to date news. News Papers are dying so dayum them. We have other ways to reach the masses. The Clarion Liar is not even sold in North Missisippi. I use to have to drive to Winnona to get it before the online version started. It's the largest but it not carried on the cost and Hattiesburg either. F them...

Thank you 2da point. The interim AD seems to have poise. The C-L will have to come back to the fold. My other question was about the softball program (for those who may care), Did they ever hire anyone?

During a live chat on Periscope, Morales explained that the only access he wanted was a 15-minute window on Tuesday-Wednesday before practice to interview players and whatever assistants were made available to him, which was the norm (I'm assuming) prior to McCall being named interim head coach.

He said there is always a JSU official standing nearby while he conducts interviews with players and coaches. So, it would be unlikely they would say anything that would be a detriment to themselves or the program.

Morales is covering the Gambling-MVSU game on Saturday. He said if he is restricted from covering JSU during the week, then there is no reason he should cover the games.

Smh..... Grambling did show up for homecoming and now the beat writer is covering Grambling and not JSU for JSU's homecoming. JSU need to fix this. What are you all hiding?

I see that no one put that we have relaxed our media coverage restrictions on the CL. Hmmmm.....interesting. Maybe some of you work for the CL. But anyway, the old CL is back to covering the GREATEST HBCU in MS. Wonder why they didn't put that on the front page.

Everybody else is getting ready for games of relevance this week.

All I can say is "DUH! What was Jackson State thinking??" The press is too intertwined with all sports to go about making enemies. Took them too long to figure that out if you ask me.

Thumbs up to the Jackson State University football program for correcting a mistake.
Good news out of Jackson State University this week. The JSU football program has rescinded its policy of not allowing players and assistant coaches to talk to members of the media.
Following the firing of Harold Jackson as head coach on Oct. 6, the Tigers began a new policy that made players and assistant coaches off limits to the media. (Continued.........)
