True. I agree with ya on that. Mack made some bad recruiting mistakes after Colt. I forgot about that Crabtree thing. You would have thought Mack had some coach on his staff to tell him differently in the recruiting game. SMH.
Ole Charlie ain't going to be missing. This will be fun to see him, Sumlin, and Briles go at it. Then add Stoops in the mix and even Okie State

I grew up in Wichita, KS, so I didn't know much about athletes in Arkansas. It was after I moved to Arkansas that I started to pay attention to Arkansan athletes (I still don't pay too much attention to them). And yes, I've heard that Charlie Strong can recruit well in football. So I was kinda surprised when I saw on the local news last night that he was from Arkansas. They are really hyping him here.

Jon Gruden's name comes up in every major coaching search, but it should be obvious by now that he has no intention of returning to coaching. He's making more than 95% of college coaches and only has to work 17 weeks. Why leave that job and go to deal with recruiting, compliance issues, academic issues and all of the other headaches that a college head coach has to go through? Red can be mad, but his choice was unreasonable. Wasn't going to happen.
Now, that doesn't mean Charlie Strong doesn't have to win and win fast. I said as much in another thread. The pressure is on and if he doesn't win I give him three years in Austin. Max.

Charlie Strong will win and probably big. Charlie Strong Defense won two National titles at Florida, took Louisville to a BCS bowl game and beat the breaks off a 11-1 florida team.. Dude is polished and the young brothers in the State will flock to him. Especially on defense. He will be fine...

Yep. Charlie at Texas is scary. I said this in a thread a long time ago when folks started talking Saban to Texas that UT would be better served hiring Strong. If he hires Orgeron to help him recruit it is going to be ugly in the Big 12. He will need a couple of years to get his type of players in there. Because Mack Brown had talented guys but guys who were soft in my book. Strong going to get some ballers with swagger in there.

Strong retained Bruce Chambers, who was the HC at Dallas Carter a few years back, so he'll have that pipeline to all that talent in SW Dallas County. I think he's one of the few coaches being retained. Mack and them just got real lazy in recruiting these past years. They were offering kids in their soph. year. Too many kids got offered early, so they missed out on those who really came on their sr. year.

been reading some UT forums and apparently this AD plans to minimize the power the boosters have over the program. alot of em were saying that Mack was spending too much time schmoozing instead of coaching, so the new AD planned to cut all that out.

At a 100 million in donations that he has given...Far as I am concern Combs can say whatever the hell he feels about the hiring it's his paid right...But he is lashing out because no one came to him first about this hiring and his feelings are hurt!

It may take a little time. Brown may not have had the as talented players as some of his previous classes. He won nine games in each of his first three seasons. Beating Oklahoma (2-1 record) and Texas A&M (2-1) may have helped him in those years. Saban was 7-6 in his first year at Alabama and 8-4 in his first year at LSU.

Nope, I saw how McCombs acted first hand in Minnesota as the owner of the Vikings. He is an idiot. And what he said was racist.
