Cancel SWAC Championship Game

Lol but crazy thing is they have the Black Rodeo and its packed as hell. They have concessions and all kinds of crafts to buy. Whitefolks go there with trailers and rack up on those woodcraft furnishings.

Ikr lol...

I aint gonna lie if We woulda won it. I would have had to watch it at home. Im sorry but I went to Bayou Classic and Houston and Atlanta woulda been a bit much. In tickets along I spent nearly $200.

The difference is we didn't have to spend much money against Jackson St. I spent over $500 this weekend and spent less than $65 against JSU. Grambling Fans probably would have been out of $1,200-$1,300 in a 4 week span.

Exactly!!!!

I aint get no comp or sideline passes either. Lol. I paid $150 for 3 BC tix and $114 for SCG.

Guys, all you have to do is follow the PV vs. TX Southern Model:

The Magic City Classic can stay where it's at because it is in October which is at least a Month before the Championship Game.

Alcorn vs JSU and SU vs. GSU will have to make some decisions though in the future. I see no damn issue with moving both games to earlier in year.

Moving every rivalry game to earlier in the year gives your fanbase some breathing room financially in case your team makes it to Houston AND Atlanta.

PV, TX Southern, Valley, UAPB, Alabama State, and AAMU have given their fans breathing room financially in case their teams make it to Houston and subsequently Atlanta.

Alcorn, JSU, SU, and GSU have not done the same for their fanbases.

How about just start saving at the beginning of the season. I take a look at the football schedules at the beginning of the season and circle the ones that I will attend.

IKR...Just one of the things we're behind on. I know folks that take out a loan for to cover their seasons tickets and lodgings

You are wasting your breath. Universities must do whats right for their universities, just because PV and TXSU play in Sept doesn't mean GSU vs SU should do it, worry about your own.

I was in shock at how it was like a big fairground. They had fried everything. The quality of those woodcraft furnishings was outstanding.

That's been going on for decades. I worked for the company that sponsored it for many years and had free access anytime I wanted. But I refuse to partake in that abuse of humanity for the entertainment of. ...... Well you know.

I think you're misunderstanding the subject my man

Exactly!!! I didnt care for that either. Alotta whitefolks go to that rodeo. It was hard to watch some of those Bull Poker games. Those inmates got seriously hurt.

Well for me. Last weekend at Bayou Classic, we spent close to a $1,000 coming from San Antonio. That includes gas, hotel, tickets and food. Since the SCG was 2 1/2 hours away, we invited a couple from our church and their grandson which cost us $250 to have good seats and maybe $180 for hotel stay. And $60 for gas. Couldn't have done Atlanta. You're right about our spending, but I believe the Bayou Classic at that time of the year works for us and Southern.

I would say no due to the fact that the HBCU Fan is not like the FBS Fan.

SWAC Rivalry games on the other hand, should follow the PV vs. TX Southern model. People don't like to give credit to PV and TX Southern but they were extremely smart in scheduling their rivalry game so early in the season.

Dude, you don't even know why and how this game became the 1st game of the year instead of the last game of the year like it was before 1985. That decision was one of the best things they came up with. Although you have some thinking about changing this date that wasn't around during all those lean years because they think playing a conference game to open the season is too dangerous.

The SCG in the Superdome isn't a bad idea. Its got your hotels, event venues and is lighter travel on all schools.

NOLA will gouge the hell out of you on them hotel rates. Besides the casino and bourbon street where else can our folks go to have a good time. I know in Houston there were several places that were official party places that were easy to get to and not heavy on the pockets. That also includes shopping areas, restaurants & hotels.

The Houston Market is perfect for the Casual fan. This was apparent for the SWAC Championship this past weekend. Of the 40,000 tickets SOLD, only maybe 25-30,000 were there to support football teams.

The concert being cancelled played a big role in butts in the seats. The SWAC needs a Plan B. Stuff happens.

Bayou Classic is a family vacation for my family. It started when my brother begand college at Xavier. Then my cousin 4 years later was at Xavier and my brother in med school. My folks decided to just plan on going and staying from Wednesday or Thursday to Sunday. We get two room adjoining and have a good time. As far as Houston and ATL I never planned on going anyway because of the cost and timing around Christmas.
