Calls For LeBron to sit after non-indictment in Tamir Rice case

Perhaps today’s most famous athlete – LeBron James – has also been told to stick to basketball when he’s decided to raise awareness for different causes such as Eric Garner or Trayvon Martin.

But his some of his supporters want him to do the exact opposite – and are calling for the NBA superstar to step up in response to the killing of Tamir Rice

Activists have created a hashtag on Twitter called #NoJusticeNoLeBron, demanding James sit out NBA games until the Department of Justice “imprisons” the two white officers involved in 12-year-old Rice’s death.

But is it fair to ask LeBron James to miss games in order to protest the grand jury decision to not indict the officers?

This is unrealistic and unfair to LeBron to have him take such a risk for only a symbolic move.

It would be nice if the demand was made for white athletes to make these stands, too.

It's not unfair. Yes pro athletes are not role models but they do make an impact on society.

I know one thing. I'm tired of these "symbolic" moves like Clippers did with Sterling but still played and made him money. I do know one thing. Lebron can't just do something like that. These athletes ain't built like the Jim Brown's or Muhammad Ali's thinking more about their brand

LeBron James sitting out for god knows how long will not stop white supremacy, bro.

He made a notion with Trayvon. Why not make some noise with this situation?

Jim Brown and Ali weren't sitting out to protest. Hell when Ali was out of boxing for a few years it wasn't because he wanted to be out. They forced him out.

The point is they did a lot more as far as activism is concerned other than that symbolism which is what very few athletes do today

LeBron James "making noise" will accomplish what? Groups of black people have been demonstrating, boycotting and even rioting over injustices and black people are still being killed by the police.

Lebron is held in a higher regard than the average black person.

If Lebron has to sit out, why not the entire Cleveland team? Why put all the burden on him?
Plus he may have it in his contract to not participate in such matters in that particular way. Heck, it won't solve the situation any how.
It surely didn't solve the Trayvon situation when he spoke about it.
White folks and White police will continue what they've been doing.
If anybody needs to speak out on it, it's BLACK police officers themselves.

Remember when LeBron setup a partnership with the University of Akron to to help send underprivileged kids from his hometown there? There were so many people calling him a sellout and the devil because LeBron didn't do the same thing for an HBCU.
I respect activists and the work they do but some of them are crazy man. They have agendas that they expect other people to fulfill. Say what you want about Lebron but he seems to care about the community. I respect that.

Only thing I see coming from Lebron sitting out is possibly a fine and lost money. It will make a lot of noise for about a week but it won't change anything. He should just keep supporting the movement in a smart way because sitting out isn't going to solve anything, it will just show that Lebron really cares about the situation but I don't see it helping the case or other cases.
