Calls For LeBron to sit after non-indictment in Tamir Rice case

I got a better one. Why don't black thugs stop selling dope, shooting each other and pay their dam child support. We gotta stop putting the burden on a particular leader and put the blame on the idiots destroying our communities. It's simple we as everyday blacks gotta make a change and force that we need education, prison reform, job training and parental involvement in our communities. The black preachers are getting rich off of our people and the white community enjoys our lavishly spending. If we support our community, black businesses, HBCUS and our communities we could make a statement. Until then shyt like this is just as ignorant as Pookie selling dope. Stop asking white folks for hand outs and lets do it ourselves. Dr. King and Malcom were young guys leading change.

None of this has anything to do with Tamir Rice and the story at hand. Not a damn thing to do with it. That's along the same line as the "black on black" crime narrative that many of yall seem to be anything when fuels the reasoning for these cops being afraid and killing unarmed black folks.

Even I say that sitting out for a long period of time goes against what he is looking to do long term in Cleveland and would be/is selfish for these activists to ask him to do (putting his livelihood at risk. And he is probably the most vocal superstar as far as activism is concerned. But Lebron sits out games anyway. The next time he sits out he could wear a Tamir Rice t-shirt and do more stuff behind the scenes. I think of Umar Johnson and his efforts on trying to get that school. A lot of celebs wanna help out but they don't want their name attached to him publicly (so I would hope they do it on the low)

Lebrat has a tv show called Survivor's Remorse-if he wanted to make a comment about Rice-use that tv show.

Why call him out-why not ask ALL the Cavs to sit out a game because this is not just limited to blacks. We have whites dealing with the same mess that the mainstream media ignores. I know of whites who were yanked out of cars by cops for not showing id, talking smack to cops, refusing to show id and one DIED because 4 black cops broke his neck while he was having a heart attack.

I have seen more whites upset about this than blacks. The ones with kids seem to understand more than the ones who keep screaming he deserved it because he pointed the gun at cops never mind the fact we have VIDEO that says otherwise. And lets not forget Ohio is open carry-even if he was pointing a gun at folks-they still did not warrant execution. When white have real and DEADLIER weapons and no one says anything to them.

As for what Cee said-that too is important. What is the main thing we noticed about these incidents? COPS BEING CALLED TO COME. We can't get support from the public when cops have to be called to come get us. That is the point he is trying to make-lets stop giving them a reason to come into our communities.

If a child gets shot by cops-the FIRST thing I should not be hearing is his dad's a criminal like they did RIce. That is jury poisoning. We don't have to be prefect but lets start working on dealing with our issue as civil folks that don't need cops.

Young brother it is all relevant to this situation. Your generation needs to understand what activism is. This is why BLM is struggling so bad. I support them, but they have no direction. Why do I say that you ask? Because anyone saying their down for the cause can join. The truth is certain people are not for the cause, they are their to destroy and just take from the cause. These folks ask Lebron and others to do their part, yet no one is holding those who setting our communities behind to step their game up and help move forward. Brother Malcolm preached against the drug dealers, the pimps, the prostitutes as well against the white oppressor. Black racism of killing, destroying and only taking from our communities is just as wrong as the white oppressor killing our youth. We are at war in our communities against the sell out blacks, the drug dealers and robbing crew and the white oppressor. I'm always ready to fight the white oppressor, but I'm also ready to clean up the community against those who seek to destroy it from the inside.

It's not unfair. Yes pro athletes are not role models but they do make an impact on society.

We can have a bigger impact. Stop shopping at their stores. We always want someone else to make the sacrifice. How many Black folk in Cleveland flooded the malls buying holiday gifts? If I remember correctly wasn't there a call to buy Black for the holidays?

We always want to spend other people's money. Collectively let's stop buying from those who don't have our best interest in mind and we can have the same impact as we think LeBron sitting out would have.

Somebody is going to say we don't know who these companies are.....Google is such a wonderful tool.

Remember what President Bush said. You are paid to entertain us and not give your opinion! As you see, you only have the freedom of speech when you are politically correct!

It's a bunch of crap

1. Those who are asking Lebron to sit out (black folks) are they attending HBCU schools

2. Those who are asking Lebron to sit out (black folks) will still support white establishments (boycott everything, sports, clothing stores etc)

I mean dude didn't sit out when they were the Owner did his thing from the Clippers, we gotta understand that it starts within us.

These dudes are bought by cooperations

Why nobody ask Lenoard Forunuette (yea I jack his name up) or Ben Simmons to sit out, or take a stance on the situation or the QB for OSU?

I mean we gotta stop aiming for the top and start on smaller scales and then eventually the ppl at the top will get the picture.

Jim Brown and Ali weren't sitting out to protest. Hell when Ali was out of boxing for a few years it wasn't because he wanted to be out. They forced him out.

Exactly. Ali is my child hood hero. But you are correct.

And I wish black folks stop propping up that BLACK Woman beater/abuser Jim Brown. He is a hypocrit. My old man was on point about him years ago. Never was a fan of his like most old heads.

Right!

So many are frustrated and desperate for help in changing the system. They are beginning to reach for anything they believe may help move the needle from the current situation towards justice or at least a more equitable system.

Frankly, I am empty and at a lost for words as each incident becomes more and more difficult for me to fathom, what's next.

“I think it’s quite sad that LeBron hasn’t spoken out about my son,” Rice said in an interview on NewsOne. “I’m not asking him to sit out a game. I know his kids got to eat too, but you can at least put on a shirt or something. Some of the other athletes, some of them have said something, some of them haven’t. I think they should just make a statement. I’m not asking nobody to quit their job or anything, but make a statement for us black people out here.”

I would love to ask her what kind of activist was she in Tamir's life prior to this happening to him, he was black kid for 12 years!

and i'd say that would be unfair for you to question her in that context. she's a grieving parent seeking some semblance of justice, hope or anything that would alleviate her frustration over a system not holding anyone responsible for the death of her child.

i wrote several stories last year about the death of monroe bird. he was a 21-year-old kid who became paralyzed after being shot in the neck by a security guard outside an apartment in tulsa. bird died several months later from complications due to a blood clot. the security guard who shot him was not charged.

the kid's father often would call me at work and on my cell phone lamenting over his son's death, the district attorney who failed to file charges and the security guard who was not ruled liable for his actions.

this is no time to make an enemy of tamir rice's mother or lebron here. the cleveland police department and the prosecutor in the case should be the focus of ire.

Damn bruh....I read this four times. Do you feel powerless in situations like this? I mean to hear a parent talking about their child. I know when the conversation about my brother and cousin (my parents raised) is talked about around my mother I can see the sadness in here face.

Why sit out? Just let him talk about it with the city council and state reps in Ohio. He shouldn't be forced to lose money. Would you all sit out in response to a ruling from your job? You would be fired.

the monroe bird story is the only one in my career where i was frustrated i couldn't do more. i actually talked to the kid at his house way out in rural oklahoma. he was lying in this medical bed hooked up to a machine to help him breathe. he seemed to be a really good kid, smart, well-spoken. told me of all things he wanted to accomplish in his life.

i remember telling him before leaving his house that the way medicine is advancing he could be walking in the future. he died a couple weeks later. i was sad, man. i was upset for him, his parents and the fact he seemingly died in vain.

These are the stories we don't hear about that need to be told.
