How has Mary J had a longer career than Whitney? Whitney came out in the 80s and was kicking arse all the way into at least 2000. Mary J came out around what 93 or 94?

Folks said the same thing about Prince not being revelant. Yet he can sell out a 20K plus arena by himself. Whitney probably can do the same if she does it right. Aint too many of these new school can do that.

Aint nobody buying albums like talking about. The youngsters download like a mofo and us old heads just don't buy like we used to because alot of it sucks.

JR of course Whitney's voice was un matched but many of these ladies can play instruments, somewhat act and have better business acumen. Now Keisha is raw but I think she has a better voice than Mary J and is in her same lane, but boy I like looking at that little ghetto momma. :sperm::sperm::sperm:
She can bounce those tigo bitties in my face and sing all day.

Oh yeah I gained a respect for her when she did the VH1 thing live. She have no help and sounded great.


JR no knock on Whitney but she aint coming back as the Whitney we all knew. She can have a nice second go round but it will not be major.
 



Whitney is killing everybody on Shaw's list and if she sounds like she sounded at Clive's Grammy party her CD may go platinum in a week. I also heard a reference track that R. Kelly wrote for here and it's on the level with i will always love you and I have nothing. Older people are the ones who actually still buy records and that's who Whitney will probably appeal to the most.
 
Whitney's ass ain't killin' shit no moe, unless her voice has truly healed. I'd buy her album just to see for myself because I use to be a huge fan of hers. She is washed up now from all the drugs though.

I still will put some of the new talent up against whitney now. Not then now. you guys can buy her album, I'm sure it will make it's way here via rhapsody via my wife. Don't get me wrong she killed it,even though I'm not a fan, when she was hot but right now she is washed up. Mary J couldn't hold her jock back in the day but she can put together a hit record right now.
keys, beyonce, coles and the rest on the list can.

Sheesh none of these new cats can hold a candle to Al Green, Marvin Gaye, etc..but if those mofos dropped a Album today it would not sale in mainstream. Al Green has a great album but it's not chart topping today.

Shoot KC and Jojo can sing better than most of these R&B acts today but their cracked out ways and style have come and gone.

Actually Whitney was a pretty decent actress for the roles she got. You know they all get those singer roles. LOL. Now I am a huge Keys fan and absolutely love Jill Scott. Mary J grew on me as time went on.

Whitney is Whitney. One thing people like Mary J. Blige don't have is a whole lot of WHITE fans. Whitney has a whole different market and she has the execs to back her up. She is not waiting this long to put something out for nothing. She is waiting for the right songs and right people.

Toia, I am shole glad you told them about Britney. People are mad that she is not coming to some cities... :lol: Some people just have it and some don't. While I do agree that young people spend more money, if something is good, it will get bought.

Man Mary crossed over when she got happy. Why you think she be in those Cheve commercial and ish. She got white fans too. Whitney is dead man she been out the eye to long. Shoot Janet got white fans and she can't put out a decent record or tour to save her life now.

Im a Mary fan too but that is becasue I am more of a pop-rock fan than a hip-hop/R&B fan. Hip hop-soul ain't nothing but a more soulful form of pop-rock. However, with Mary, her azz just learned how to sing by taking voice lessons before recording the "Just Fine" CD.

...as far as Janet goes, crap is not going to sell and that is Janet's problem. With the money she has and the potential money to be made by her success, she can't seem to get the right material. She is not the Madonna type who can reinvent herself with every new CD. Janet is Janet and she has gotten away from being herself. In her last 3 CD's, she only had enough good material to make ONE decent CD. I bought 20 Y.O. and gave it away after one listen. It was pure trash.

I tell you what, you let Whitney go "duet" with any of those singers listed and i guarantee, she'll spank that ass without trying just like she does with all the rest of the singers that duet with her. They leaned back, working like shit, and she ain't even breathing hard.

IF she had a reason to bomb, it would have to be from bad marketing (which I sincerely doubt), but I got my money on this girl. Read it, store it in your blackberry and text it to whomever. Whitney IS THE standard. She WILL go multiplatinum. If she tours, she WILL sell out.

Mary J who??? Now that's a chick I never thought could truly sing. Just had to catch her on the right day. :lol:
