Black Athletes, White Schools...

Man, we NEED to be figuring out HOW and WHERE and WHEN to build NEW stadium(s)... What the f*ck should I be spending my 'idle' time tryna' get off into some other schools stupid ass business relating to waving a confed type flag on their campus? :retard: Hell, we BARELY make BUDGET EVERY SINGLE F*CKING year...WHY THE F*CK should I SPEND MYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY TIME DEALING with some mundane SH*T on someone else's PWCU CAMPUS?! :retard: Our sh*t is, point blank, f*cked up and we're making WINE out of VINEGAR (C-Mac and crew). Our salaries are good but they SHOULD be better! Too much stuff to deal w/ this way rather than getting off into other campuses stuff where they SINCERELY DGAF about us.

If they gave us a HOME game on their turf and paid us 750,000$, I'd be protesting and caring like a muthafugga. :emlaugh: Otherwise, wave y'alls flag over there----> people. :emlaugh:

It's not just southern PWCs, you can find people like those in the video throughout America.

But remember, it didnt take the federal government in the later part of the century to allow admission to us in the rest of the country. Hbcus don't exist everywhere. It's a reason for that. Racism is nationwide but not to the extent of not allowing admission to blacks to pwcs in the 1930s and 40's.

True.....but you and I know how bad it was in the South. There are racists every where in the country. One reason I don't like Michigan....(they had many incidents in the 80s when my cousin was there) but for the most part those schools did allow us to go as regular students back in the 40s and 50s and some even earlier than that. The Southern PWCs fought tooth and nail to keep our arses out. So I have more of an issue with them than I do with say an Ohio State obviously or a USC or a Syracuse or an UCLA where Jackie Robinson graduated from.

My Dad was the same way. Being that he marched in the Civil Rights movement in Ms and went to JSU then I got taught at an early age to dislike the Southern PWCs. Those images you see with that damn flag is what really burns me up.

his is my point. They don't like us up here either, but we were allowed to attend the college of our choice. That's a big difference.

Clearly thats the whole part of my thread all the Font in bold before the videos. I spoke on all of that.. WHats next?

i dont cheer for lsu i cheer for the black players on their team. i never been in tiger stadium and dont care if i ever get there or not. they are all being pimped anyway but they dont see it untill their eligibility is up. Ryan Perrilloux should have started this year most of these games would not have been close.

For years our parents, grandparents and great grands wanted to be able to attend and be a part of the best in this country. NOW we can and I'm supposed to be pissed that a few red necks are showing their colors? I don't have the time. The same ignorance you face at LSU, UA, UT, Texas A&M, etc you will find when you go to work in corp America, local/state/federal govt or the military. As long as my kids are in school and working to get their education and degree, then I am happy for them.

All Divison 1 athletes are being pimped..not just the ones who attend FBS schools.

Even the one's at our HBCU's........:pimp::mrt:

Basically. That's why I don't understand the reasoning for caring what they do over there when we do the same type thing over <<<<--------- here. :|

I'm pro-SWAC/MEAC/SIAC/CIAA... fugg the rest is my philosophy. :retard:

oddly enough....ain't many of "us" calling the shots after "successful" playing careers over there as alot of us who run through these factories are pigeonholed into one major

On the administrative side, it's lilly white still......the few who have got to the top were hand-picked due to an image they fit

Dude it is lily white in corporate America. What do you expect? LOL. Man some of yall live in a dream world. BTW it aint like our own take care of us either. I have seen classmates of mine from HS who have doctorates that are HBCU grads and can't even get an interview at their alma maters or any HBCU for that matter. Then when they do offer them, they offer some bs type of money. Guess where they end up being professors? At these same PWCs. Like P said we got our own issues. We aint no better.

I think that we should take these videos and collectively distribute them all over America to anyone and everyone who would receive them. Then, let America be the judge.

I believe this is the mindset that ultimate further established the financial disparity between African Americans and European Americans as well as other ethnicities.

For years our parents, grandparents and great grands wanted to be able to attend and be a part of the best in this country.

My parents, grandparents and great grandparents told me that they fought to provide me with an equal opportunity to have a choice and further more the push for equity to be established for our community. They never and have always told me that they never wanted for me to believe that being integrated into the America was to suggest that being apart of the majority was because that they were the best.

Very good Posts............Interesting thread........

Boy, folks on here show sound like hbcu's are sub-standard in every since of the word. Almost like the only purpose we serve is a good time (football games and the band). Everytime somebody makes the statement "my this and my that fought for equal oppurtunity this and that". If you truly had pride in your you know what, statements like this wouldn't be made. All I know is that I had a choice (two schools in IL and two in MS) . Didn't have to take into consideration the government being involved so I guess my perspective is different. The excuses and self hatred have to cease because that's all this sh@t is when it comes down to it.

EB, that's true and the other part is "some posters" enjoy watching SEC Football on the weekend. The question is why should any one care about what school anyone attends. At least they are doing something with their lives.

I would imagine those same students are up nights walking the floor, pulling their hair out wondering why someone attended Texas Southern. I would there should be more concerns in individuals everyday life, rather than wondering why someone attended University of Alabama or Southern MS.

While I feel the way that I do, I understand some of the posts in this thread. My take is what happens to some of these athletes when they get there in and out of the classroom. A lot of times they are cheered during the season and basically forgotten during the off-season.

JR......I don't know about you but let me work at an LSU or somewhere similar in corporate America and I would be lethal as my workload drops overnight (more full-time help involved) and I have unlimited resources....

some HBCUs have the same potential but these PWC grads in alot cases who run the school for some reason don't spend the money like they do at their alma maters to fund the department...problem is they rather keep us down for some reason as they are afraid to step out or we rather hire our homeboys in certain positions for fear the new blood will cause too much excitement and exposure

I had an opportunity to see a top-flight PWC fundraising arm......its no secret the major money comes for football but when you look at those boards only one person that's black is on there....so if our major black athletes stop attending the school for one reason or another and that was an issue...would a BCS school forsake their competitiveness for old values or would they change?

What is this black athlete at the white school stuff? Why are people so concerned with the decision of other people kids? I am so HAPPY for every black person who continues their education NO MATTER WHERE THEY DECIDE TO GO.

Don't ever believe your workload drops. When you are black in corporate America you have to work harder than that white boy in the same position. Aint nothing changed. Every brother that I have met that is an exec has told me that right off the bat. I live it everyday at my Sr level just below the Director and VP. I purposely work longer hours to upstage my white counterparts. Something I learned a long time ago. Sure LSU would have more resources than we do and you would think your work load is lighter. But in reality you just have more time that you had better be figuring out some other things to do and you better seem like your work load is heavy. Because they are not going to be happy with you in the long run even if you are getting the job done. Somebody is going to think you aint doing enough and have too much time on your hands. One of the traps alot of blacks in corporate America face. We get comfortable. Now if you work for the government then that is a different story. LOL.

Also you can forget about all this if all the athletes that are black stop going to PWCs that it would force them to do something. Why would it. If we stop going voluntarily and every PWC lined up white boys and no one deviated from that then they would be on TV in white America fielding white players and ratings would be sky high. Now America would not have any high paid blacks to be jealous of. They could root for their all white teams and be happy. I don't why you think if we boycott playing at PWCs going to affect them. The only way that would work if some PWCs would stray and start playing black players and that would cause the others to buckle. Aint like they would have to play us HBCUs. We would have all the great black players with no TV deals. Why? Because why would the ESPNs and ABCs need us? Notre Dame, USC, Texas, Ohio State, LSU and others will still be the ones who will be on TV with their all white teams.

Now do I think that would happen. No. Politics would be involved and I am sure you would have some black players cross the picket line....etc.... You just have to face facts TBF. You are not going to see college boards dotted with a bunch of us at these PWCs. Ohio State has 2 African American Board members and has had 3 in the past that included Clark Kellogg up until 2006. If I am not mistaken......Derrick Brooks of the Tampa Bay Bucs is still on the b the Florida State Board and their vice president of the board is a brother as well.

I agree with Sperm and others. I am just glad to see an African American kid go get an education. Every black kid can't come to a HBCU. For some it aint financially possible. For the athletes.........you already know why. If they are not a sharp cat like a Warrick Dunn, Derrick Brooks, and others who took advantage of a free education and their connections then I have no sympathy for you. They had a great opportunity. Like I said, I wonder if Dungy, Denny Green, Pete Richardson, Rod Broadway, and other coaches who did not go to HBCUs feel like they fugged up.

I like that point the most. I know we are a little upset that the elite amature black athlete is not attending HBCUs and turning them into to a cash cow like their PWC brothers.

However, that line of thinking only creates a mindset of not appreciating the student-athletes that have chosen the HBCU route and made a tremendous impact in society after graduating.

It seems like so many posters are saying that only PWCs are "pimpin" black athletes. That is not true. Talented black athletes, students, entertainers and business people are being pimped by everyone in a ledership position.

See, we crying about losing out on the great amature athletes because they made the PWC what they are today.

In reality we want to "pimp" them to do the same thing for HBCUs, too. It's nothing different except that it would be black people doing the pimping instead of white folks doing the pimping.

Why is it pimping? In reality, why do I go to Southern's games. Because they are Southern. It really doesn't matter who plays, the players change every year. IF you took the same 60 guys from Jackson State that 43,000 came to see and took that JSU off their uniform, 4,000 wouldn't show up to see them play. Put that JSU on 60 different guys, and guess what, 43,000 would show up looking at the program trying to figure out who was who. The same would apply to LSU. They give those players every chance to be successful. If they fugg it up, that's them. How do they "don't want you to succeed" when they give you access to the best of everything. If you have not been to the COX Academic center at LSU, you need to check it out.

Every race has its share of assholes and ignorant folks, we as black folks damn sure got ours. We would be mad as hell if they take comments/actions of a few of the most ignorant ones and painted all of us with them. A lot of us here don't realize how they look and sound just like those they despise with there comments/points of view.

Why is it pimping? .

It is pimping--especially at the FBS level--because there is a perception that the athletes are being used to generate power, presitige and wealth for their universities while the athlete is not being prepared for life after sports. I know that's not true, but there are cases where athletes do get a literal free ride through school without having to work for the diploma.

And that's the greatest fear of our people. They fear our talented athletes making a series of bad choices after leaving school because they were always told yes and never no. Or you have those that don't go to the pro ranks and fall on hard times as well.

However, there has been a tremendous success rate among black athletes in society after going to an PWC.

How that applies to HBCUs is that we want to be like the PWC in terms of getting the best black athletes to attend our schools. We want them to make our schools as well known and rich as Miami, Nebraska, Texas and USC through athletics.
