Im probably going to be called a FOOL for this topic, you know im NEVER right on this site.
But im serious about this and want a honest opinion about this

I mean, ok I get it ...PWCU's is where the cameras are... Better Facilities, Better Training and preperation, PWCU's is where the NFL recruiters are and PWCU's have nice campuses and PWCU's can offer opportunities that most HBCU's just can't afford to offer.I understand all of that JUST FINE, But MAN all I could think is what if we used our TALENT to force the industry to center around our HBCU's or at LEAST take them more seriously...???


Are we being bought Are we being pimped? Are we being straight up used to create funding for these universities?

Or am I just thinking about all this the wrong way??

Which also leads to this video which sort of proves my opinion on how MOST white schools only care about you running the Ball up and down the field and the court for them and thats it, they can CARELESS about you because you a BLACK, all they use you for are SPORTS!!
But thats my opinion and ill be a FOOL first before yall call me one.
So while BLACK FOLKS running up and down behind LSUThis is how they feel about you and your FAMILY and RACE!!!

Sir Gram, lol this horse has been ridden through the ground. Those kids @ LSU show <b>no</b>, as in no existance, of relationship and connectivity w/ either you or me. :) They're in their own world and out for their "own," whatever that means.

We all just happen to be grouped to the same "race" designation of folx here in america. That's all.

If those white people marched w/ that purple/gold cross and bars flags through every single street on lsu's campus is just fine w/ me. Godspeed to'em! :tup: :D lol

Do we ever realize that when we make these one sided post, like some of the ones on this thread, that you are basically being just as racist and segregated as the people you are accusing of the same ills. Truly, why is it that we continue to want to make people who are talented athletically carry the banner for all of black america. I am not saying that some of these guys aren't smart, but they are held in high regards for their abilities, and nothing more. So they shouldn't be ask to be the moral fiber, or trend setters for our race or any other. Celebrate them for what they are. It is sort of like how MJ would always be chastised for not speaking out on the issues, when of you ask me, who cares what MJ thinks. He is beloved for his playing ability, and nothing more.

I truly believe that it is more about the jelousy and envy of these young men and women that drives the disdain more than the historical aspects of the argument. Because if it were truly about history, you would not be upset at these kids and others taking advantage of an opportunity to better themselves through whatever talent they may possess. Jealosy and envy are two of the same traits that we readily accuse white america of, yet we can't see our own envy of ourselves can be just as harmful.

We love to get upset when white america uses some of our poor examples as spokepersons for us, and are quick to point out how we aren't all the same. Yet we will quickly take this video and make it the gospel of all fans of (insert school name here).

But i digress, you people continue on.......

Where does it seem like my response or opinion can resort from JEALOUSY or ANGER... And most of all I just asked a question, Maybe you need to re read the first Post again.

Those SNIPPETS were just a Extension and Example of ONE of the meanings and reasons why I feel this way and why I made this topic!

To be honest for the most part student athletes at BCS level and other PWC schools are isolated from the general student population. So they generally are not exposed to many of the activities (good and bad) that take place outside of their internal sports network.
 
I feel that a person should be able to attend the school of their choice. But I must say that this is an interesting thread.

BTW those images will not make my parents and their friends, many SU Jags and Grambling Tigers, like LSU.

True.....but you and I know how bad it was in the South. There are racists every where in the country. One reason I don't like Michigan....(they had many incidents in the 80s when my cousin was there) but for the most part those schools did allow us to go as regular students back in the 40s and 50s and some even earlier than that. The Southern PWCs fought tooth and nail to keep our arses out. So I have more of an issue with them than I do with say an Ohio State obviously or a USC or a Syracuse or an UCLA where Jackie Robinson graduated from.

My Dad was the same way. Being that he marched in the Civil Rights movement in Ms and went to JSU then I got taught at an early age to dislike the Southern PWCs. Those images you see with that damn flag is what really burns me up.

EB what happened to you in Minneapolis when you were here? Just curious on how it used to be for blacks here. To me it seems like they(white folks) try so hard to make you feel comfortable for some reason. They love Keith Ellison the Muslim congressman. Now I do realize they are undercover type racists. Not as open as a redneck from down in the SIP. Minnesota Nice is what they call it here. Fake at times and genuine at other times. LOL.

I was there for three years during the early to mid '70s. I must admit that was a long time ago. But I saw things there that I have seen in Texas, Louisiana or Georgia.

But I must say that I did meet some very nice people there.

I knew a kid that played for A&M...I caught up with him at the black leadership conference held on A&M campus one year and he looked lost walking around the campus.

EB, that's true and the other part is "some posters" enjoy watching SEC Football on the weekend. The question is why should any one care about what school anyone attends. At least they are doing something with their lives.

I would imagine those same students are up nights walking the floor, pulling their hair out wondering why someone attended Texas Southern. I would there should be more concerns in individuals everyday life, rather than wondering why someone attended University of Alabama or Southern MS.
