Listen everyone I know it's not my decision but I prefer my stepson attend a HBCU. I believe it's important for you to be around other blacks that are striving to be great like yourself. Why go to a no name white school that has to teach you about racism? A school where you don't know who is on your side or not. If i left the decision up to him, he would just go with whatever no name PWI school is reaching out to him. So far only D3 schools are reaching out. Trust me, He's good enough to go at least D2. The main problem i see is that he's 6'7 but plays for a non ranked high school and has to play center. Coach won't let him shoot jumpers at all. Personally I think that's what coaches wanna see. Shooting jumpers. Doesn't matter if it's 15 feet or the 3 pointer. I've been tweeting and tagging hbcu coaches in the MEAC AND CIAA. Also a few in the SIAC. I'm not hearing anything back. no feedback or anything. So I have a few questions.
1. Is there another method I should use to contact coaches besides social media?
2. What HBCU coaches do you like? Where if you had a child you would feel comfortable with your child playing for them? Obviously Moton's record speaks for itself. But who are some other really good HBCU COACHES?
3. What HBCU would be the best academic and basketball wise? (coaching staff, graduation, development, playing time, etc) I say playing time because some teams are so stacked, a freshman may not even see the floor. If it was up to me, It would be the MEAC OR CIAA or Siac (clark atlanta, Morehouse). But definitely open to the SWAC. We live in MInnesota. but am looking to relocate back east to either Raleigh, Philly or the DMV. Preferably a good STEM program.
