Listen everyone I know it's not my decision but I prefer my stepson attend a HBCU. I believe it's important for you to be around other blacks that are striving to be great like yourself. Why go to a no name white school that has to teach you about racism? A school where you don't know who is on your side or not. If i left the decision up to him, he would just go with whatever no name PWI school is reaching out to him. So far only D3 schools are reaching out. Trust me, He's good enough to go at least D2. The main problem i see is that he's 6'7 but plays for a non ranked high school and has to play center. Coach won't let him shoot jumpers at all. Personally I think that's what coaches wanna see. Shooting jumpers. Doesn't matter if it's 15 feet or the 3 pointer. I've been tweeting and tagging hbcu coaches in the MEAC AND CIAA. Also a few in the SIAC. I'm not hearing anything back. no feedback or anything. So I have a few questions.

1. Is there another method I should use to contact coaches besides social media?

2. What HBCU coaches do you like? Where if you had a child you would feel comfortable with your child playing for them? Obviously Moton's record speaks for itself. But who are some other really good HBCU COACHES?

3. What HBCU would be the best academic and basketball wise? (coaching staff, graduation, development, playing time, etc) I say playing time because some teams are so stacked, a freshman may not even see the floor. If it was up to me, It would be the MEAC OR CIAA or Siac (clark atlanta, Morehouse). But definitely open to the SWAC. We live in MInnesota. but am looking to relocate back east to either Raleigh, Philly or the DMV. Preferably a good STEM program.

Have not gotten a single email response. Not sure if coaches are checking their email or not. But I have emailed head and assistant coaches. NOTHING.

I get that you are frustrated, but hang in there. Division I and Division II are in the quiet period of recruiting this week so chances are you're not going hear back from anyone just yet. Take a look at the recruiting calendars, I hope they help you.

coaches come and go.... especially at HBCUs... Most of these schools have elite camps in the early fall .... thats where they get noticed at. Do you know how many emails these coaches get... you aint going to get no scholarship off an email. Plus I believe the dead period was extended.

All coaches have their email addresses and office phone numbers listed on school athletic websites.

Not Lindsey Hunter and I am gonna go out on a limb and say neither does Mo Williams. And those two I can understand why

Levelle Moton is the best HBCU coach out there and the results prove it. He should have been progressed up but that HBCU stigma is real. Seems like most in the SWAC and MEAC either get fired or move on (the former being the most likely)

Sending you a PM

If you can get him in a camp or seen in an AAU event. The other way also works which is if there are alums that the coach will listen to that will pass on a name with a recommendation.

Interesting point and there is some truth to that.

the transfer portal has made it Harder for freshmen high schoolers now. Kids who were over recruited coming out of high school or high major transfer are usually back in the portal soon and teams will pluck those kids as teams don’t have the luxury of waiting to develop freshmen as that’s a 2-3 year process now when some contracts are only 3 years.

add in lack of a summer cycle this year makes it worse for them.
