mustardman, ain't no way su's better at putting on a show than JSU.
Even our entrance and exit marching to "GET READY" is second to none.
This is what a showband is all about.

su's band is built for drilling, while JSU's band is the best showband I've seen this year.
This is one of the reasons we have five LIVE ACTIVE AND EXCITING drum majors while y'all have only one. I'm not exactly sure what his responsibilities are though, except for the back bend at halftime. Then it's lights out for him.

I think that so-called "show bands" are just using gimmicks and dancing drum majors to distract attention away from the fact that the fundamentals of marching just aren't there, and it shows during their drills(I.E. Crooked lines, poor knee lifts, no or improper horn swings.... The "J" floating in the wrong direction!)

"Show" comes 2nd to marching at SU. Hell, we don't even speak of the dance routine until the drill is perfect! If the drill don't get right till Thursday night, OH WELL! Doc gon come out the office and say, "Do that dance from LAST week."

So, JayRob, JSU can be the better show band. Just know that you might be fooling the fans with that, but I can see thru the shmoke, mirrors and p-poppin' DM's.
 
Besides SU, it has to be AAMU in my opinion. My top 3 besides SU.

1)AAMU
2)AlaSU
3)PVU

BTW, Every band I heard this year was great, but those are my top 3.
 
I didn't hear the Bamas but AAMU usually has a good band every year. PV sounded pretty good in the stands(like they always do).

Yeah, AAMU impressed me. They were better this year then last year. I would shole love to hear that Don't Phunk With My Heart again.

Maybe you drill bands are covering up the fact that y'all can't put on a decent show to keep your fans interested.
I'll put our "Get Ready" entrance and exit marching style against ANYTHING su has at anytime bruh.

We'll keep what we have and you shole can keep what you have.

JSU doesn't mimic su and don't care to... ya got that?
We're a bass oriented band while y'all are a treble somethin.

During a show you don't know what to expect but when you are Marching we know what you are going to do next;example, Enter the field, do your drill, spell the score " 0 to 7" finish your drill "SU", let the little girls dance, get to dance routine however you can, just stay in line, sections 1,2,3,&4, come off of the field. Is this a quality SHOW!:uzi:

i see u didnt study all of your tapes/dvd's of southern to well. We dont make the score every game idiot. Also what your are attempting to smack is called a Format!.. DM intro.. drill1..drill2... dancers.. dancer routine and exit.

Maybe you should buy a copy of the 2006 dvd and study a lil more buddy! :nod:
