Best and Worst HBCU Uniforms

With football camp still over a month away, we figured we'd have some fun and take an in-depth look at the best and worst uniforms of HBCU football. Here's what we came up with. Let us know if we got it right.

Virginia Union's uniforms are awesome...classic and stra9ght to the point.

As far as the SWAC goes, Jackson State, UAPB, and Alabama State lead the way as far as uniforms go. I'm not of fan of Southern's new white helmets...personally I think they should go back to the yellow joints from the 90s.

Quick question for JSU and Grambling kats...is red an official color for either one of your schools? I noticed Grambling and JSU have worn red at one point.

The white helmets are here to stay, and I like them with our jerseys. It looks great.

If you had alternate helmets and just wore the white helmets with all white unis you would have a point.
White helmets on colored jerseys suck. It just looks weird and makes your unis look awkward.

Bull...Orange and Green is an AWESOME combo LOL...I personally like our brand new all white uniforms

I also like the combo we wore against ya'll last year

And I personally like the new black uniforms as well

Yeah Fam has some hideous unis. Those all whites are nice, but you went too far with the black.
And those unis yall wear with the green pants with the orange on the front is a damn crime. SC STate has some awful unis too...or it could just be the white helmet.

To be honest I really do not like our uniforms...but I love the logo. That big "UAPB" on the front could use another font or style or something.

The white helmets are here to stay, and I like them with our jerseys. It looks great.

I am mixed about the white helmets. I rather have gold helmets of some sort. I mean we are gold and blue. I don't mind us keeping the white helmet for some uniforms. I also don't like the striping on the uniform pants. The all blue uniforms are not my favorite either. I rather see us in blue jerseys and gold pants or blue jerseys and white pants. The all white uniforms are nice. I also like the gold/yellow jerseys we still have from that BC. But it goes more with the old helmets than these. An all gold uniform with blue numbers would be nice as well.

FAMU has some of the worst uni's. I've always been a fan of JSU's uni's. I may not like the football team, but the uni's have always been classic. I remember going to the games in the late 80's to watch JSU. The blue helmets have always been nice.

That was the worstest helmet in creation. Lawd and that logo **** threw on there. It's makes me sad thinking about it.

I really like Bama States white uniforms from last season those looked nice at home too....I also like JSU's home uniforms, Southern's powder blue, Texas So. road whites, BCU,Tuskegee and FAMU black ones......

Red was put in by W.C. Gordon in the late 70s .....its not the official color of JSU....

I think the SWAC signed an extension til 2015 with Russell............They are horrible in terms of uniform options I will be glad when schools can hold their own in terms of uniform options thats why we are in this Russell deal now because some HBCU programs couldnt get the apropiate uniforms for their teams..And Russell provided a good deal...

Bama State white uniforms where the best in the SWAC last year IMO. I hope the new unis JSU will get this year matches those of ASU!

I do like SU's all white uniforms. The white helmets :tup: Always been a fan of Black Uniforms. I would like to see what SU would look like with Black Uniforms and our official colors.
