It is no reasoning with him. He don't understand what we are saying.

Exactly...

There is a ton to change for our schools.

GSU's athletic attendance has taken a hit for years because of the decline of student enrollment, alumni having no faith in the administration, inconsistent leadership, improper advertising, and a lack of pursuing athletic donors.

Some GSU folks will disagree but it's the truth....

We also need to put a better product on the field. Over the years, I have traveled all over the place to watch and support S.U. Football. Sometimes nowadays, it is very painful to watch SWAC football. Winning and a higher caliber of play would go a long way in getting butts back in the stands for S.U. and Grambling.

Definitely. Look at our schools time management on the field, air it up offense not giving the defense time to rest, place kickers (OMG), and basic defense mechanics....that game with Prairie View and North Dakota...:shame:

You say you don't post "just to be posting" but you do. Case and point, your words in bold. A decline in attendance doesn't necessarily mean the Classic is withering away.

The BC still generates revenue for New Orleans. If there is a
Decline in revenue generated for the city, then that would be a different story.

So a school located in Baton Rouge is bragging on making New Orleans rich? Hmmmm?

30% and 14% decline from what? Please explain how you derived of those percentages.

1994- attendance 76,000
2000-2004 average attendance 70,198
2006- attendance 47, 196 ( 39 percent decline from 1994 attendance)
2011- attendance 40,175 (14 percent decline from 2006 attendance)

When you look at the dates between 1994-2011, the BC has declined by approximately 47 percent. WOW!!

Anymore questions?

New Orleans is in Louisiana. There is a branch of SU in NO.

There are those in this conference that will always be jealous of the Bayou Classic no matter what one states. They will always be envious that our great universities have been showcased on national television for years. It comes with the territory when you're so successful for so many years. They will find the least little thing to nit pick which are metaphors for a crab in the barrel mentality. Their leaders in decisions making positions can't be influenced by them and don't respect their opinion. Hence, they are subjugated to message board banter and tirades. That's it in a nutshell. They are much to cowardice to effect change by working within their own ranks.

So basically, you want the SWAC to do things BACKWARDS from every other conference and school in the football world again. You want all the rival games on LABOR DAY WEEKEND and while the rest of the country is watching "rival Week" in November, we will be playing Concordia, Stillman, Miles, and the Edward Waters of the world.

Talk about a nose dive in attendance for season ending games.

In terms of weather, economic resources, television slots etc, doing it opposite the major conferences could work for HBCUs. We depend so much on walk up game day sales, having bad weather is a big risk for HBCU football.

Nobodies jealous of the B.C.
Just another HBCU classic to people that follow HBCU ball.

Just tired of people associated with it acting like GOD put that game together for the sake of all man kind. It's kinda funny listening to the comments about it. :goof:

No offense to any school so don't get mad............just making a JSU view point. :lecture:

I can just see JSU fans getting hyped up about a season ending, NCAA rival week game with Bamma A@M.

Please don't let the BC game attendance numbers skew your vision of the actual number of people in and around New Orleans. See while that 40,175 were in the dome watching the game, another 50,000+ were around town spending money.

Please. LOL!!

You have no idea how much the su branch gets. They may get nothing or Tulane my get more than su since the tax dollars are indirect.

This guy brought Tulane in the mix. August 29th! can't get here fast enough.

Exactly. Who hates a game that's declined in attendance by 47 percent?
The game isn't what it used to be but folks want to act like it is. Braveheart made some decent suggestions which is move the game to Labor Day. When your attendance drops by 47 percent, WHY KEEP DOING THE SAME THING EXPECTING DIFFERENT RESULTS?

New Orleans?! You bragging on making New Orleans folks rich? Heck, you can make money for New Orleans and get back up to 70,000 plus if the game was on Labor Day weekend.

You're wasting your time. These few people don't have good intentions relating to S.U, Grambling and Louisiana. Hell, their presidents (who is the person that have some degree of power) don't even listen to that garbage. :emlaugh:

You still haven't explained how you calculated your percentages. Maybe if I provided you an example, you would understand.

Below is an example on how to calculate the percent change of some school in Mississippi athletic budget from 2011 to 2012.

Athletic Budget
2012 $5,882,042
2011 $6,909,322

Budget difference between 2011 to 2012
$5,882,042 - $6,909,322 = -$1,027,280

Budget percent difference between 2011 to 2012
$6,909,322 / -$1,027,280 X 100% = -14.87% ~ -15%

Therefore, the school had an approximately 15% decline in its athletic budget from 2011 to 2012.

Now, do you see how easy that was?

I'd rather have those thousands of people roaming around JACKSON spending their money than in some neutral city, making them rich. Spending money in businesses downtown New Orleans don't do crap for the communities around Grambling or SU that support ya'll all year.

Just a thought.............. not a negative. :lecture:

You are got dam right I'm bragging on and pushing for my hometown. We need every piece of revenue we can get our hands on. It's a win-win situation for the city, state and both schools. That crap you typed in bold is a waste of time. What financial documents have you prepared to back that up. Man focus on Jackson, Mississippi. I'm looking forward to being home in New Orleans November 27th - Dec 1st in New Orleans. I might stay and watch the Saints Monday night game on the 2nd at Dragos.

I hear what you're saying but in the grand scheme of things, those city and state taxes with emphasis on the state tax portion do in fact go directly into the states general fund which is used to fund higher ed of SU and GSU get a portion of in their appropriation. I hear you but again its a win win situation. Taxes in New Orleans are 9% so the state gets 5% and the New Orleans get 4% on that two piece spicy with beans.
