On the side note..

That 99 Bayou Classic...man o man..I think that was my best classic I been too

Canal ST.. was a party on its own Lmao...the p-poppin that was going on that Friday night on Canal...lmao....it'll never get back to those days....I have tears....lmao...

Another factor you Bayou Classic folks have seem to have forgotten is that the New Orleans Saints are MUCH more popular than they were in the late 90s/mid 2000s. Like I have said, this ain't the Bill Clinton era where folks had a little extra money to spend. If I am the neutral fan who is neither affiliated with SU or Grambling and have to choose between the Bayou Classic and the Saints Game, which one do you think I'm going to attend.

BTW, those 50,000 outside the gates ain't helping shit because they damn sure not spending it on SU or Gram. They spending it on Saints stuff for the game THE NEXT DAY.

It is TIME for HBCUs to make some tough choices in order to survive in the Athletic Realm.

The great tragedy of it all is the fact that the problems are so simple...yet difficult due to folks who believe the 90s are alive and well.

Hell, Tim Tebow was one of the most popular Florida Gators of All Time and even Florida has moved on from his era. Got to move on.

Comments are just getting dumber by the post. lol

Just say that you are jealous of the Bayou Classic. Heck even if we moved it, would Alcorn come anywhere near getting a playoff bid?

ANOTHER THING: Playing your rival in week 1 means that 1 SWAC Game of that nine game mandate is already in the books. Eventually, we can work the schedule to where we can eventually make all of our important games early in the season. <-------------When this happens, THEN GO TO A 7-Game Mandate for the Playoffs. SWAC Champion would be determined by a formula similar to the BCS.

I give a damn about the Bayou Classic. Alcorn kicked both of your asses last year. I am proposing a system that somewhat improves the Revenue Earning Potential of the SWAC while being fair to EVERY TEAM including SU and Grambling. I could be a butthole and just say get rid of the game. I AM NOT DOING THAT. I know in-state rivalries are important. I'm simply proposing to move the date of the game to Labor Day.

But as I have already stated, I recommend The Bayou Classic, Soul Bowl, Magic City Classic, etc. ALL be moved to Labor Day so we the SWAC can put our best foot forward to America. America doesn't watch us on a consistent basis and when they do, it is usually some Thursday night game with hardly anybody in the stands.

Look, I know this is putting all our eggs in one basket. But sometimes you have to win a gamble in order to win your overall goal.

Why the he-- would the Magic City Classic need to be moved? That game is in October. Your own school doesn't care what you think, so you know SU and Grambling don't care. Why not have Alcorn move to the Southland so you won't have to deal with SU and GSU being selfish? lol

Nice try to turn the thread. But the gun is currently pointed at the Bayou Classic. Like I said, I am only PROPOSING. November in-state rivalry games have tended to not do so well as of the last decade.

As I have said for the umpteenth time, I could be a hard-ass and just propose getting rid of the Bayou Classic all together. But I know how important in-state rivalries are.

But SU and Grambling don't seem to want to meet halfway.

SU/Gram ain't moving shat. Move the soul bowl to labor day, and your fans won't have anything to look forward to the rest of the season.

Besides Homecoming and the in-state rivalry game, what does ANY SWAC team have to look forward to?

JSU has 4 (Homecoming, Soul Bowl, TN State, SU) 3 games of 9 game mandate
Alcorn has 3 (Homecoming, Soul Bowl, SU) 3 games of 9 game mandate
Valley has 3 (Homecoming, vs. Alcorn, vs. JSU) 3 games of 9 game mandate
Alabama State has 3 (Homecoming, Magic City Classic, Turkey Day Classic)
AAMU has 3 (Homecoming, Magic City Classic, JSU)
SU has 3 (Homecoming, Bayou Classic, JSU)- can't include FAMU (does not play on consistent basis like JSU vs. TN State)
Grambling has 4 (Homecoming, Bayou Classic, JSU, State Fair Classic)
TX Southern has 2 (Homecoming, Labor Day Classic)
PV has 3 (Homecoming, Labor Day Classic, State Fair Classic)
UAPB.....I can really think of any big rivalries within the SWAC UAPB has.

Why can't we make all the games we care about attending IN PERSON earlier in the season?

You're saying this like you have power. You can say whatever you want, but it doesn't mean s---. lol

Dude, This has nothing to do with the Saints being popular or not. Again you have no clue. You really think you are smarter and wiser than Ronald Mason and Chancellor Llorens and our AD at SU? Do you really think your idea is some novel idea that has not been discussed before in the whole history of the BC?

You act like SU and Gram is losing money from the Classic. We are not. You also don't even think about the 40-45K folks who are at the BOTB the night before. That's 80K mofos over 2 days to witness SU and Gram band and football. You did not do your research at all. You just want to move our game to Labor Day and think it will be some kind of success with no research done whatsoever. Just rhetoric. Mofos ain't spending stuff on the Saints the next day unless they have a damn home game. LOL. We ain't competing with the Saints. Dude most SU and Gram alums who are from La are Saints fans. They go to both games.

Them WHITE FOLKS are the main ones in the Saints games. So it don't matter if we play on Labor Day weekend or Thanksgiving weekend it has no bearing on who goes to watch the Saints. You act like folks are having to choose. NEWSFLASH. Even before Katrina, the poor New Orleans native could not afford to go to a Saints game. Nothing has changed post Katrina. The same mofos who went to see them then, go see them now. What has changed is FOLKS ACROSS THE COUNTRY who had nothing to do with either school don't have extra money to go no where. You see the drop with a lot of Classics. The dates have nothing to do with it.

Look dude, we ain't moving the Classic dates. If anything if your President was smart he would ask JSU President nicely to move the JSU and Alcorn game to Thanksgiving Day, cut out the promoters and just have the game in Jackson every year on Turkey Day so yall can make some bigger money. Actually that is the way it should be done. JSU and Alcorn would make big money that weekend. Rotate who is the home team in Memorial if it makes you feel better. Might as well, we ain't going to the playoffs at least for 3 years with the SCG locked in Houston.

Hell he can't even call Alcorn with no authority. LOL. They would hang up on him. He need to stick to hiring strippers or something. LOL.

The shotgun is still aimed at the Bayou Classic JR.

Oh and JR...when Katrina hit, SU and Gram seemed to have NO Problem moving the game to another state. How much harder could it be to move it to another date, not another state?

Somebody pinch GUD PLEASEEEEEE!!!!

No one can't say Alcorn's little coach isn't trying hard to get in the playoff.

You still haven't explained how you calculated your percentages. Maybe if I provided you an example, you would understand.

Below is an example on how to calculate the percent change of some school in Mississippi athletic budget from 2011 to 2012.

Athletic Budget
2012 $5,882,042
2011 $6,909,322

Budget difference between 2011 to 2012
$5,882,042 - $6,909,322 = -$1,027,280

Budget percent difference between 2011 to 2012
$6,909,322 / -$1,027,280 X 100% = -14.87% ~ -15%

Therefore, the school had an approximately 15% decline in its athletic budget from 2011 to 2012.

Now, do you see how easy that was?

Another REALLY dumb post but that's to be expected. He can't refute facts right before his face, so he turns to useless budget stats having nothing to do with the subject at hand.

Hell, even if it is relevant, just shows that SOME school still knows how to maintain a QUALITY athletic program and not let it fall to next to last place on the men's side. LOL!!

Unless those budget numbers I posted look familiar to you, they were used as an example on how to calculate percentages or percent change. Now tell me this, where in hell did you yank that 47% decline that is shown in your post below?

When you look at the dates between 1994-2011, the BC has declined by approximately 47 percent. WOW!!

Instead of pulling numbers out of your azz, you really need to pull your head out of your azz.

Simple math calculations would help you but if you never learned those skills in college, I don't have the time to help you. Figure it out for yourself.
Sine he likes to brag on his Engineering degree(s), PM JR to help you.
