This could be BH's final blue print.

And BH, make sure your protest sign reads, "SOUTHERN SHOULD MEET US HALFWAY". Jayrob could hold up the other end of your sign. That should definitely get someone's attention.

:emlaugh: :lmao: :bawling:

braveheart is like the annoying fat girl in the back of the classroom that won't STHU, NOBODY is listening to you.
Grambling Southern or JSU shouldn't take advice from a school that hasn't won a SWAC Championship since Adam bit the fruit.

The Bayou Classic attendance has been greatly affected by SU recent losing, it's no secret Jaguar Nation brings 50000 of the 70000 people in the Down.

A shame because in this thread, I hardly even mentioned playoffs...

I'm talking about IMPROVING THE IN-STATE RIVALRY GAMES THEMSELVES. By the the way yall talking, 40, 000 show to every SWAC Regular Season game (a damn lie )

This is Jaguar Nation of Today, NOT of late 1990s. Do 40, 000 come out vs. Valley, vs. PV, vs. AAMU, vs. Alabama State, etc.

What I'm proposing is to somewhat (notice I said somewhat) somewhat help make up for the low attended SWAC Regular Season games by maximizing the revenue earning potential of the in-state rivalry game.

WTF? Just stop. lol

...yet when is the last time Grambling won anything in the other sports the SWAC offers. Checks and Balances...get use to it.

BTW, would it piss you off if I said Doug is voice of Grambling?

Tell me something Jaguar and Grambling Nation...what do you envision the Bayou Classic becoming in the next 5-10 years?

Braveheart please don't allow me to bring up Track....before Coach Bibbs left our women's basketball team was feared. Plus don't try to change the subject because you are fighting a losing battle.

I will say this I support moving the classic if and only if it leads to us competing in the FCS playoffs. I believe in order for us to compete in the FCS playoffs the SWAC football team's schedules would have to be changed in order to play games that can lead to a better seed in the playoffs. That's just one aspect. There are a ton more. Such as what is the cost/benefit analyses to the schools? How do we market ALL of our schools on general scheme? The Bayou Classic is not the only game to be moved.

In short it's too much and quite frankly from the comments you have received there is a general consensus that moving the classic is not a viable subject. Usually what I do is for every one person I count them as 10.

The classic is not being moved and the SWAC will never compete in the FCS Playoffs...so enjoy the current arrangement.

Now a better subject to discuss that can be changed would be pushing our presidents to change the 9 game mandate but that is also like beating a dead horse.

Founder.....that is what I was trying to indirectly bring in as a model envisioned

Move all the games WE ACTUALLY ATTEND IN PERSON and LOVE earlier in the year. Then that will then leave SWAC regular season games where attendance is low. We got to break to ourselves from tradition FIRST (this will take 2-3 years) THEN we can go back to a 7-game mandate and losing those games won't hurt as much.

So basically, you want the SWAC to do things BACKWARDS from every other conference and school in the football world again. You want all the rival games on LABOR DAY WEEKEND and while the rest of the country is watching "rival Week" in November, we will be playing Concordia, Stillman, Miles, and the Edward Waters of the world.

Talk about a nose dive in attendance for season ending games.

After all those years of the SWAC HEADS and the Majority of the "HBCU ONLY GAMES" fans got what they wanted, NO PLAYOFFS, ya'll talk about this mess more now than ever.

THE SWAC AIN'T GETTING INVITED AGAIN.
MOVE ON!!!

:goof:

Frat, FCS is about to take a hit. The Big FBS conferences are talking about a BIG 4 Conference system which will open the door for the power house FCS schools to make their way to join what is left of the lower tier FBS level schools like the MAC, WAC, Sunbelt etc..

Money is about to drive all decisions FOOTBALL related. FCS is going to be left behind. Because like I said, in the grand scheme of things, no one really gives a rats arse about FCS level schools. No one. If this Big 4 thing comes to fruition, the domino effect is going to be felt.

FCS may have to invite the SWAC once all their big programs bolt to FBS level. They will do it if the SEC, Big Ten, Pac 12, Big 12 are all gone on to this Big 4 level of competition they are talking about. No need to be scared to move up to lower tier FBS then. Those schools could compete with those mid major programs.

I was that dude who booked the room. Used pops alumni discount. Sheraton on Canal. 75.00 a nite.

The Shreaton during the 90's use to be wow. Didnt have to walk on canal or bourbon. Women every where. I use to make so much money selling wrist bands to get into the lobby  .

We Got To base it In the Market WE THE SWAC are in. Last I remember, the SWAC doesn't have a rival week. We just play regular games.

PV vs. TX Southern showed me the light. FBS would love to play us later in the year because it somewhat gives them a break before the real grind of the season starts.

We can only base it off of the situation of the SWAC, not the SEC.

Let's be honest, do people attend JSU vs. PV more than JSU vs. SU. Do more people attend Alcorn vs. Valley than AAMU vs. Alabama State? Do more people attend Alcorn vs. JSU than Alcorn vs. UAPB? The games in which attendence is low can possibly be sacrificed in a 7-game mandate model.

Man who you telling? reservations were made the day I found out the classic was. Even paid for it in advance in 91.

look at the attendence of PV and TSU.

Frat.
Every college that is not in the BIG 5 conferences is about to take a hit. Everybody saw this coming years ago when athletic budgets at these bohemith schools started going towards the $70 to $100 million plus mark. If your small budget behind is not already in one of those conferences, (Ms. State, Vanderbult, Ole Miss---Memphis & Tulane starting next year), you screwed. You will forever be minor leagues.

This is the final nail in the coffin for "small schools" to compete for the FBS National Championship. This is the break-away answer to people that wanted those conferences to form paid-super conferences. Nobody under $70 million athletic budgets need apply.

Con-USA, MAC, Mountain West, etc, schools will never be able to move up. It will never matter to HBCU's like us. WE AIN'T NEVA GONNA HAVE THAT KIND OF LOOT TO MOVE UP TO THAT LEVEL so our situation is basically unchanged. Don't affect us one bit. :noidea:

It may help us some Frat. FCS bigger programs will move up to join the non power FBS schools because they will not feel like they will get beat down now that the power 4 or 5 conference will exclude themselves from the rest of the FBS world. That would mean FCS would be left with the barely haves and have nots to compete for their playoffs. The bigger FCS schools are going to bolt to lower tier FBS because they can be competitive and make money when the bigger FBS schools move up. FCS will have to revamp themselves and even invite some D2 programs to move up.
