Bayou Classic

Would you really want to play a major rivalry game at the beginning of the season...the football would be HORRIBLE

Besides, I like seeing the Bayou Classic in November...just wish they would play it the week before Thanksgiving...but that's a different can of worms...

From an on the field standpoint, of course. But these are HBCU fans of today. If both teams suck, they not coming 0-0 vs. 0-0 would have much better draw than 4-5 vs. 6-3

How could you GUARANTEE that???

SU is 0-0 going into the Labor Day Bayou Classic. Grambling is 0-0 going into the Labor Day Bayou Classic.
You will have more money to spend because you don't have to worry about saving for the Holiday Season. Football is the only thing going on worth watching. That potential additional revenue stream is there AND I have catered to my target consumers (black people). And the Bayou Classic is in a Dome so weather won't be factor.

Want to get that 70, 000 average back in sea?

Won't happened....ppl come home to come to this game for the holidays...

Aint nothing like it being cold and rainy and in November for this game anyhowz...but hey IDK

What up folk?

Good point. More SU and Gram alumni come here for Turkey Day vs. Labor Day.

That works in Theory..... But NOT Reality.

See the problem with the Bayou Classic is that that fans will not want to be at the game if SU losing. GSU's following has never been as great as SU's at the classic. Some GSU people will disagree but it's the truth. Let SU have a winning season and notice how full the dome would be. Look back at the years when the numbers were high and then examine SU's record.

Good point. One of the best attended games was the 03 Classic. I think 04 was packed too.

Based on both teams record last year, it would be in the best interest of both schools if the game was the first game of the season.

Who wants to go see two teams with a combined total of five wins?:smh:

...and let me remind yall. I'm just not talking about moving the Bayou Classic to the 1st game of the year for both teams. I'm talking about Alcorn vs. JSU, Magic City Classic, etc. 0-0 vs. 0-0 is the way to go.

Why? Is this purely attendance based or prepping for fan dropoff due to a potential bad season...I don't think I can get on board with that

Thanksgiving is the most traveled holiday in the United States. So it is understandable folks come back to the Boot from everywhere that week. Folks just go home for that holiday.

why can't the Bayou Classic be played the on the Sunday of Labor Day Weekend? the game would be the only football game on TV at that time, and this move would allow the SWAC Champion to enter the playoffs

See.... Texas Southern and Prairie View were so forward thinking about 30 years ago that we moved our annual game up from the final game of the season to Labor Day weekend because we saw this happening and didn't want to hold the conference back. :swink:

Break out the cardio electro shock paddles.
SU and Gram fans are about to start having massive chest pains.

Putting on my Kevlar vest and helment.
Don't want to get hit by all these rocks coming from B.R. and Grambling Louisana.

We must cater to TODAY'S HBCU Fanbase. This isn't the 90s where fans supported their team in rain, sleet, or snow. In 2013, there are basically two games HBCUs fans of today show up IN PERSON for and those are the homecoming game AND the in-state rivalry game. For JSU vs. SU and JSU vs. TN State, ain't nothing you can really do to improve them. The in-state rivalry games CAN IMPROVE. Move them to MAXIMIZE REVENUE EARNING POTENTIAL. 0-0 vs 0-0 is the way to go (Thanks PV and TX Southern).

Dude, my post was topic related. Calm down.
You know I'm right. The BC attendance has declined considerably since Katrina. Yall need to do something before the game withers away even worse than it already is withering.
Braveheart has made a good suggestion for the BC.

Dude focus on what's happening in Jackson, Mississippi. The hell you worrying about the attendance records of a game with two teams you claim not to be concerned with. How do you know its a good suggestion? What concrete evidence do you have that can support a move. Please show me something factual because the money generated in New Orleans that weekend speaks volumes.

You educated (I presume). Find it yourself.

Last I checked attendance went up this past season with 2 losing records

The BC generated $6 million, which is enough to get Conference USA's attention. :emlaugh:

his handling of the football coaches situation was SHAMEFUL and a lot of internal problems, and Im not one to sit back and be quiet, I let him know in email, phone, facebook, twitter and instagram

If you feel that strongly about it get your soldiers together (organize) and have a non violent demonstration. Go on a hunger strike until your conditions are met. Also, get your group to lock their arm in human chain in front of the athletic dining hall so no one can get in until your conditions are met. Get the Fruit of Islam to teach your soldiers that fancy march they do (very intimidating and your president will know you're serious). Show up, show up on time and show out! Keep your eyes on the prize ungawa Black Power! As-salamu alaykum! If you need anymore ideas just let me know because I have tons of them (the revolution will NOT be televised....It may be on You Tube though).

And if all of the above fails, they can set themselves on fire in the middle of Grambling's campus.
