BAYOU CLASSIC ATTENDANCE

I have had some good classics and bad classics. The football games most times have been irrelevant me and I think the attendance of the game reflects the significance for the fans in attendance.

I have had far more fun at the Southern Heritage Classic than I have had at some Bayou Classics. And the fun didn't have anything to do with the games. The Bayou games are always better, but Memphis at the beggining of fall treats a Diesel good. I love it and I love the town.

I have had a good time at the Soul Bowl. The McNair games were cool, but the town can treat you bad when JSU loses. My Jackson friends aren't very nice after they lose and they don't want to go anywhere. But, D&L will serve a Jaguar fan some barbeque, you just cant sit in the place and eat it. LOL.

The 100 Black Men Classic in Atlanta is the crummiest football classic I have been to. No exceptions.

So, I don't know or care which is bigger. I judge them by the good time and hot damnit, I have enjoyed myself.

Alot of people say that about the ATL Classic.... I have been about 5 times... had fun some times and it was boring at other times. Why do people say that about the 100 Black Men? Is it the sponsors?

general admission tickets were $30... $20 before the day of the game.

WHAT does it matter honestly? Now ticket prices matter? lol yall killin me.

Hill, I gotta give u some respect, cuz u r determined to argue ur point no matter how WRONG it is.
Honestly, Da Hill look at through some unbiased glasses. The MCC may have recently caught up with The Classic in attendance the last 2 years but look what it took for that to happen-a natural disaster. We went to H-Town and still sold over 53,000 tickets right after Katrina. Then, we came back the next year with two SORRY ARSE teams and sold 45,000 which isn't bad, but not good enough for The Classic.
We have the BOTB which has sold out the last couple of years(40,000+) so if not the teams, the bands can pack the house. Plus you have the pageants, job, college fair, fan fare, concerts w/big names all weekend(Lil Wayne came last year, Confunkshun this year), hell our drummajor and somebody from gram threw a party on Bourbon last year that was off the hook.
On top of that our fans get retanto 51/50. Hell, they coined the name "Jaguar Nation" for a reason. Its nationally broadcasted and still draws 70,000.
Ya'll really don't want us to go back the days before NBC when having over 72,000 was the norm (btw the 1st classic drew over 76,000).

if the Bayou Classic could easily sell out every year, why isnt it happenning? You think there arent many AAMu and ASU fans who come and choose not to party and look at the game on big screen? The MCC is only a football game? Are you crazy? There are more people outside in the parking lot/area around Legion Field tailgating than there were at the Bayou Classic GAME last year. Over 100,000 at the parade, estimated 120k in the immediate area around Legion Field gameday.

Now I know the Bayou Classic is a great classic and atmosphere, but im not going to let you discredit the MCC when you have NEVER been.

First things first, this is A BAyou Classic thread! We let you bammas have your MCC threads.
Secondly, you cannot compare a game where 60,000+ in attendance are the only ones that see the game, to a game with national TV coverage. You cannot compare a free parade with 100,000 people that walk outside, to a 18 dollar a ticket battle of the bands with 40,000+ people in attendance in addition to 10,000-20,000 copies of the DVD being sold.
Thirdly, The Bayou Classic's events begin on Tuesday. The Miss Bayou Classic Pageant draws 10,000+.
Fourthly, regardless of actual game attendance. The BC brings as much revenue to the city of New Orleans as does the Sugar Bowl, or Supr Bowl!!! All hotels are booked up. And at least 200,000 people are there participating in BC related events.
But if this isn't enough for you. Try this: The next time you are not in Alabama or Louisiana, choose 10 random people(black, white, young, old, etc...) and ask them if they have ever heard of The MCC or The BC. I've been doing this all week in Houston, Dallas and Prarie View. In my results, not 1 person that I'd asked had ever heard of The MCC, NOT ONE! About 95 percent had heard of, or seen, ar been to the Bayou Classic. When you try this please post your results here.
The MCC has great attendance, but its a Bama thing, stop trying to compare it to the Bayou Classic which is nationwide and beyond. If it was soley based on game attendance, The MCC wins, but it's not.

once again.. Have you EVER been to the MCC? The things you are naming are nothing new to the MCC. Lil Wayne is from NO, he is suppose to perform at the MCC. Their are concerts at every HBCU Classic (TI was the headline concert for this years MCC until he got arrested). There are job fairs, alumni pep rally's... all that bs at the MCC... plus a 4-5 hour parade with an estimated 100k people in attendence in downtown Birmingham. You say we have a BOTB with 40,000, we have over 40,000 outside the stadium tailgating from Wed to Sunday.

Good Post Juke!!

The MCC still doesn't compare to the BC, just get it through your head Bama ST and AAMU: the MCC is an Alabama thing event, Bayou Classic is a National Black event that is nationally known, recognized and televised by a major network. You say MCC has events but i guarantee not on the level of the Classic, the Bayou Classic battle of the bands itself will out do many Classic Football games itself. The Battle of the Bands itself could draw 70,000 easily but they only let a certain number in because they want everyone on one side of the dome, that's why i laugh when Bama St and AAMU try to compare the MCC to the Bayou Classic. GSU and SU have a intense rivalry like no other and love beating the mess out of each other in everything from football to track lol it's not just a football thing, both teams have the richest football history out of all HBCU's and that's what sets the classic apart from the MCC. The band programs are the most known in the world so that's another added factor. Not knocking the MCC but it's just not a classic that i would try to break my neck and go to, now i have been to the Florida Classic and i have to say i enjoyed it because those two schools are very intense when in playing each other and both band programs have stellar bands. The atmosphere at the Florida Classic reminds me of the Bayou Classic because of the intense rivalry and band comp. Still the Florida Classic lacks the media coverage, a real battle of the bands, not that field stuff, and the events that go with the classic. I'm not knocking the MCC or Florida Classic but when you have a Black Football Classic that is covered heavily by the media, with major events surrounding it and a city that never sleeps, intense rivaly with two well known universities, nationally known bands, and two football teams with a winning history and tradition how can you compare another classic with the Bayou Classic? Not braging but just being real!

once again you have NEVER been to the MCC... how can u compare a classic you have NEVER been to.

On the real the MCC has never caught my attention and Birmingham is not a city that i just love going to! The only way i will go to Birmingham is for the SWAC Championship if Grambling's in it or the SWAC-Meac Game if Grambling's in it! Now i went to the Florida Classic last year and two years before that and i enjoyed it because those two teams and schools interest me, so it's my preference not to attend the MCC because the teams don't do nothing for me, i wouldn't enjoy it because Birmingham is boring to me! So i guess it's all about preference! Still without going the MCC the Bayou Classic is the best, i can honestly say it because i been to the Florida Classic their attendance is higher than the MCC! If you jugde a classic for attendance you are mistaken about many things anyway. When you take your classic to a different state and still attract 50,000 plus then say something about the Bayou Classic until then my statement stands! The truth be told not many know about the MCC, that's a big clue right there!

LOL dude all you had to say is you dont like A&M and call it a day! lol...

none of what your saying is making any sense! how you gone say not many people know about the MCC???..maybe people YOU know! lol your not the spokesman for "everybody" hahahah

you contradicted yourself about 10 times just in this one paragraph...

once again if you never been you cant make a comparison... thats like me saying Pepsi is better than Coke and I have never tasted a Coke.

This year, we expect each school to walk away with $500,000 net proceeds from the game

For the MCC to be small time as you bumpkins say it pays of well.

general admission tickets were $30... $20 before the day of the game.

WHAT does it matter honestly? Now ticket prices matter? lol yall killin me.

Once again the Bayou Classic has no general admission tickets. The tickets range from $30-$60 dollars.

 but SU and GRAM makes 4 time that amount at the Bayou Classic.

It's one thing that I can truely say. You guys have to be some the most ignant people on earth. It's beyond sad that black folks are always trying to put each other down. Sad. These PWC's would be glad to have any of our classics. Crabs!!!!!!!

Ay yall, we are going to put this to rest. I'm gonna get DAHILL to go to the Bayou Classic with me this year and he'll do a post game comparison. lol. Deal?

Why are yall still arguing. Sheesh.........It is what it is. Our Classics entertain us across the board. Folks love the MCC for their reasons and folks love the BC for their reasons. Can't we let it go.......not that this directed to anybody in particular. Just in general. We can agree our schools benefit from these games in a positive way.

Cee,
You must be talking about FCS PWCs? Otherwise the real big PWCs shole don't care about our classics. Actually most of the big name PWCs in FCS like App. State and others don't care either. They get their alums and boosters to give them that kind of money. One of the reason the Montanas, Deleware's, and others like Northern Iowa, Youngstown State etc are successful. They may not make what we make on a game or have as big of stadiums as we do. But one thing about them other folks. They give what they can to their alma maters with no questions asked. We just show up for classics and hobnob and go home until classic time next year. But believe me, they aint jealous of our classics. Until we start scheduling them and whooping their arses in the regular season then we will get their attention. Until then they aint thinking about us.....unless we going to bring a crowd to their stadium when and if we play them.
