Basketball Signing Day

Who won all three games :) . He got off because a 6'10" was guarding him, that wasn't that athletic. SU has signed some really athletic bigs, that won't happen in the future. But outside the conference, where they won't let the 6'5" get away with all the fouling, like they do against SU bigs, what's going to happen. Look at how competitive SU was OC. The bigs were the reason for that. Banks is building to make a run in the NCAA tournament.

Yeah people aren't mentioning how horrible the SWAC refs officiate games, which also contributes to how our teams perform. I remember against Alcorn, when they refused to call a foul on those illegal screens until late in the 2nd half. The Alcorn dudes kept sticking their legs out to trip the SU defenders which of course would free up their teammate for an open shot. You would it would have been an obvious call since the SU defenders kept mysteriously falling over right when the screen was set.

Very interesting!

If you in the SWAC.... you are wasting your time signing alot of bigs.... this is a guard league... I cant recall a GREAT big in this league in the last 15 years. If you 6'9 and taller and coming to a SWAC school.... you simply arent THAT talented.

I don't agree with that at all because in the last 15 years 3 big men helped Valley achieve much of the success we had during that time. Henry Jordan (R.I.P.), Larry Cox, and Attarius Norwood all put in work in the SWAC for us.

Wasn't Jervaughn Scales 6-7 from SU?

Yep. He was. Plus we had the other kid that around 6'7 back then. Can't remember his name. Wait it was Leonard White that was on the 93 team as well I believe. He was around 6'7 I think.

that sums it up...you just need a guy with heart to to rebound and go from there...lol..I've seen teams with 7-0 across the board stink it up

Leonard White and Scales were both listed at 6'7 but Scales wasn't quite as tall as White.

Now you know you can't believe what SU people say, esp not SUjagtillidie. If he says 8, double that!

Nah, we just got off APR trouble and all we had was 8 scholarships. The full allotment comes for this class/team for 2013-14 season.

That Frank Snow kid SU signed went to Grambling...him and Johnson were GSU players at one time...is there a farm system being ran?

Yeah they did. I wonder if they left after that kid died at Gram and all the hoopla behind it? Both ended up at JCs and then at SU after the fact.

I remember Scales being undersized for the power forward position. But he could run and jump. Plus he and White had good strength to battle for rebounds.

Can you give us a report on the state of PV Men basketball? How did the recruiting class make out? When was the last time you guys went to the tourney (old JROCK hasn't been keeping tabs)? How many times has PV basketball made it to the big dance? What place did you all come in this year? Does PV have a chance of vying for the SWAC title next year?
