Bama State head basketball coach

Maybe the JUCO coach fits our needs better than the senior west coast coach who recently interviewed at San Diego State. We’ve wasted 2 years. We must make a move quickly if we want to take advantage of the upcoming signing date.
How does he fit the needs better? There's no proof that he can dominate on the D1 level. Menzies is younger than Jones at Texas Southern. They are not complaining about his age. He's a proven winner on the D1 level.

If I was AD I’d throw a blank check to Sherman White in Atlanta. Praying we can find a good coach to restore the program!

I like White as a high school coach… we had a couple of players from his team. His college experience is lacking though. He was an assistant for a year a Ga State before he went back to high school.

Wow, what is going on!!! Bama St used to be an attractive job for basketball in the Acadome. You all might as well hire a local high school coach!

You will find out at his next job! We’re passing on a young upcoming coach who has been recommended by our so-called search committees twice. Bring the old man in along with J.J.Jackson. Hopefully he will use his international connections and J.J. recruitment ability and reel in some players via the portal. Mo was making approx $130k.

JJ will have you on probation quicker than yesterday. It’s a reason he ”stepped down” so fast at Carver Montgomery.

130k? that's part of the problem right there. couldn't hire tomeka reed to coach the team for 130k apparently. if you want a championship coach, you have to pay for it. bama state wants a proven head coach with a record of success, but wants to pay like they're looking for a high school coach that has never won the region before. you ... get... what... you ... pay ... for.

I disagree…. Alcorn came in first place in the SWAC with a coach making 105k….

I realize that. He however, is coaching at alcorn where we aren't drawing a lot of fans. he also was an unproven assistant coach when he took the job. I bet he won't accept 105k on his next contract from alcorn. If bama state wants to hire a swac assistant instead of a veteran coach with a proven track record (that's clearly what they want) then they can pay 105 -115k for a coach... but u get what u pay for.

IMO the end results is wins… I could care less if they are veteran or not… I just want to win. If it can be done with a cheap high school coach… LETS DO IT. If you throwing money at a coach who losing to a 105k coach then you waisting money.

Results do win... and here are the results. they are looking for their 3rd coach in 4 seasons, and the coaches that the selection process brought to them have pulled their name out. how are those results?

We will not know the results until next March.

If he were being considered for the AAMU job, would you want him to coach at a D2 or JUCO first?

I was surprised when he came back to the high school level after leaving GSU. If I’m not mistaken, he also is apart of the coaching staff for one of the USA junior teams.

He had an amazing run at Miller Grove and his Pace Academy teams are yearly state title contenders. I’d like to see him in college & the nba one day.

We wouldnt interview one of the best high school coaches in the nation from right here in Huntsville… so I know we wouldnt interview a high school coach from another city. Jack Doss has won 10 state titles and 3 different inner city schools… won national high school coach of the year and was head coach of the McDonalds All American game and we wouldn’t interview him (IMO… because he white).. He wanted the job bad when Pettaway was fired… he even said that he would resign if he didn’t win the SWAC Championship in 3 years.

Oh wow..how did y’all feel about him not getting interviewed?

He has a $50k buy out. The former New Mexico State coach was offered $235k

I know he has a proven record but he had to have known that no SWAC school was gonna come close to what he was making at NMSU (the base salary of the coach who just left was just under $300K plus over $210K from private donations for his salary)
