This might help individuals see a clearer picture:

With AAMU, there will be 12 football schools in the MEAC.
The difference between ASU's average travel distance per MEAC school versus its average travel distance per SWAC school: 621 - 404 = 217 miles/school
Not including ASU itself, ASU's total extra travel distance to MEAC schools: 11 schools X 217 miles/school = 2,387 miles

Without AAMU, there will be 11 football teams in the MEAC and ASU's average travel distance to MEAC schools becomes 657 miles/school.
The difference between ASU's average travel distance per MEAC school versus its average travel distance per SWAC school: 657 - 404 = 253 miles/school
Not including ASU itself, ASU's total extra travel distance to MEAC schools: 10 schools X 253 miles/school = 2,530 miles

Basically, ASU could possible add over 2,500 miles to their annual travel budget as a MEAC member school. Basically, 2,500 miles times whatever the average cost per mile for ASU's athletic teams and other support units (band, cheerleaders, etc.) to travel would be a good estimate to add to their budget.

They would have to add another $2-$3 million to their athletic budget just to cover added travel expenses. Also the SWAC have a bigger fanbase than every school in FCS. If they said they were moving to Ohio Valley, Southern Conference, or up to the Sunbelt, I can see the reason. FAMU and Bethune-Cookman have a case for joining the SWAC but not Alabama St. joining the MEAC.

JSU, A&M and Bama State have all been to the SCG 4 times (A&M 6 times) and each has won it once. Go sit down somewhere and try to figure out how to retake Mississippi from Alcorn. Mighty JSU, who is about to build a dome and who is supposed to be the super power of the east is getting ran over by a tiny school in the woods of Mississippi.

With the additional 2,500 miles, all ASU needs to do now is come up with an average travel cost per mile as a multiplier to determine a good estimate to add to their athletic budget.

I don't recall saying anything about Bama State, but since you voluntarily chided in, yall can go too. Nobody will miss yall either. Heck, your fans come to see JSU far more than JSU fans come to see Bama State. The only thing I might miss are your dancing girls but we can always see them for free on reality tv.
By the way, one can only wonder what article Josh Moon is cooking up right about now.:snicker:

Let 'em go. After a couple years of losing big dollars they don't have, they'll be on their knees begging to get back in and Josh Moon will be laughing and writing up a storm about how unsmart they were to leave in the first place, especially after looking at those numbers.

Instead of getting our asses kicked by 40 and getting broke up by UGA, or these big schools, let's create rivalries among our own.
