Re: APR

.....
Look at this bullshyt here...just thumping the fingers just to be thumping....Go look at that APR List and tell me where you see Texas Southern...I'll wait...I am not surprise we are not there... we tried to tell you butts that we have our shyt worked out starting from 3 years ago but it would not be seen until now...Now let me clear you up on somethings, the lady Bama St got from us was just hired in May and was not on their staff when they got these numbers...she knows her stuff as she was trained by one of the best and she was apart of keeping us off this list....so know your facts before typing sir...Bama St will be fine as long as they stay out of her way and let her do her job...Ya'll better hope they don't get a wavier otherwise you all will be sitting in front a TV come December!

Heck, I already know which side you're on anytime JSU is mentioned.

And it matters not whether Bama State is on probation or not cause having Barlow as their coach is just like being on a waiver.

By the way, Bama State wasn't on probation last year and what happened....and at THEIR place?!:snicker:

“We have to make sure that information is accurate,” Barlow said. “Unfortunately, we had one young man, Darius Mathis, where the school had no record of him graduating. His name is in the graduation book, he’s got a picture with the president shaking his hand and (the Mathis family) sent us a picture of his degree, but the school doesn’t have him graduating. When you’ve got those types of issues, who knows what is the real information?...

“I don’t think our people here know how to calculate it, how to keep up with the data. We have 21 guys who graduated from ASU who were never ineligible, but we lost points (for failing to accurately report their academic progress). We had guys who we might have gotten three for four (years’ in points) when he was here the whole time, was never ineligible, played every year and received a degree.”...

Baseball coach Mervyl Melendez had a similar experience...“I think we’re going to be OK,” Melendez said last month. “We have submitted the right numbers. There was a lot of missing information, a lot of frustrating time for me, but our coaching staff did an amazing job of getting all the data to get those points back.”

We can’t even get teachers to put the grades in on PeopleSoft (a software for student administrators). You might have some grades on there, some grades that aren’t on there.”

wow! can we get someone down here from the deans office to get them to put grades in please! This is not a good look

Why would Barlow put the compliance office on blast like that in public. He's basically saying they don't know what the hell they're doing.

Sounds like the registrar of the school doesn't really know who graduated and who didn't. Your dept may clear you to walk but the transcript does not say graduate - degree conferred. If it did, all the compliance person would have to do is put the person's name in the system and it would show their date of graduation.

Re: APR

WAFB doing that shat on purpose. They knew SU mens team wasn't banned, yet that's the first story on the 6pm news :smh: . SU just had it's camp. They see what SU is building.

th

Look at this ...you just could wait to put us in it...Yet I don't see Texas Southern on the list anywhere...gone on with this old shyt...that you don't know anything about how you gonna put up a link about our violations that has nothing to do with the topic at hand and still not know what the hell is going on...:retard:

Now you know damn well these folk are :retard:ed

which side of the fence are you on...SU peep do the same shyt!

:smh: You are so damn petty.

Re: APR

YALL CAN ME CRAZY NOW, but its like I have said time and time again...every thread I post has a purpose ...

Remember that thread I started 2 weeks ago about it is time for the SWAC Presidents to start cutting out some of those smaller sports in place of others? THIS APR SHIT and the lack of attendance from us in those smaller sports is why I proposed that. Those sports have become more risky investments over the years and risk just isn't worth the reward anymore. Think About it. If African-American students can't do what they need to do in smaller sports, why don't we just eliminate those mostly African-American driven smaller sports in favor of more diversified smaller sports like archery, swimming, etc? Yes, I know about Title IX.

Amazing how shit comes to fruition ain't it . Yall better start letting some of these traditions go and look forward to the future. But who the hell am I to tell yall that? Get off of that black vs. white and Get On, "I'm Black and I'm competing against anybody, no matter the race".

I don't see the problem with trying to ensure that athletes get an education.

That should be the purpose of your college or university. Even for the athletes at your college or university.

The number of sports programs shouldn't matter. Educate them all.

Heck, I think there should be an APR for all students.

Re: APR

But once they figure out the athletes who did graduate from Bama State, their score will change.

Re: APR

Not necessarily. Graduation is NOT factored into APR. They could have had 30 kids to graduate and it won't matter if only 4 freshmen didn't do well and left. Barlow talking about graduation makes him seem APR ignorant. APR does not reward you for doing good. It only penalizes you for the bad. That 900 really stands for 90%. So that 90% who is doing good, you don't get credit for them. That 10% that is doing bad is what you need to worry about.

I have said so many times before that many people on these boards DO NOT understand APR. It's not a simple calculation and it has nothing to do with an actual graduation rate. It's a graduation predictor.

Well, if they are incompetent, they need to be removed. At least they applied from waivers. Remember, ours compliance officer didn't even apply.

Re: APR

Drill their asses NCAA, drill their asses!!!!!!! No vaseline!!!

EXACTLY. They should have been on their compliance office hard anyway during times like this.

I am laughing at Barlow for trying to use a picture as proof of graduation.. LOL They always tell you that marching does not mean you graduated.

I thought they look at your athletes that graduate as well.

Barlow running up to Indiana with a pic in his hand talking about they made a mistake. They need their asses banned just on that principle alone.

Re: APR

Don't just kick the kids out of school, kick the coaches and administrators out who can't do the job.
:scared:

btw, this whole APR stuff is gonna get worse. Right now, the minimum 4 year score is 900. Next year, that minimum goes up to 930. Right now, no SWAC school would meet that minimum.

That is a lie, sir

•Calculate the Academic Progress Rate (APR) by looking at each team's scholarship student-athletes at the beginning of the next term:

SA 1
SA enrolls full time, earns eligibility and returns for spring semester.

SA is Academically Eligible (1 point) + SA Retained for following semester (1 point) = 2 points

SA enrolls full time, earns eligibility and returns for fall semester.

SA Academically Eligible (1 point) + SA Retained for following semester (1 point) = 2 points

Total Points Earned/Total Possible Points = 4/4 points

first, don't mistake me for trying to co sign anything that Barlow does/says :lol:

but what you're saying seems contradictory. If a kid comes to school and "didn't do well and left", that is reflected in the "10% that is doing bad". I would think that your boy Barlow is saying that some that is counted in the "10% that is doing bad" shouldn't be. If a kid came to school and graduated, he shouldn't be in the "10% doing bad"

Could be... if he had semester where he didn't remain eligible, but returned to school anyway. An athlete can have a horrible fall semester that results in him not retaining NCAA eligibility for the spring, but then return for the spring on academic probation and regain is eligibility based on his academic performance in he spring and summer. That athlete would have ended up losing 1 point for that school year, thus contributing to the reduction in APR points for that program.

Now, the semester he graduates, he does get an automatic 2 out of 2 points if he is still considered a student athlete at the time he graduates.

Re: APR

read this in the usa today:

"A lot of them have as their mission to provide college opportunities for first-generation students who come from very modest backgrounds financially, so if you are asking me do I think should I change their missions? I think not," said University of Hartford president Walt Harrison, who chairs the NCAA committee on academic performance. "There's a real place for those institutions, so I wouldn't criticize them at all for their fidelity to their mission. There's an honest commitment by all of us to provide more resources to help them achieve their mission."

does this mean that alabama st, valley, southern will get waivers? will grambling basketball receive a waiver because if im mistaken this is their 2nd apr ban in the last 4 years.
